Recently, noise reduction in an axial fan producing the small pressure rise and large flow rate, which is one type of turbomachine, is recognized as essential. This study describes the design and optimization techniques of MPI parallel program to simulate the flow-induced noise in the axial fan. In order to simulate the code using 100 million number of grids for flow and 70,000 points for noise sources, we parallelize it using the 2D domain decomposition. However, when it is involved many computing cores, it is getting slower because of MPI communication overhead among nodes, especially for the noise simulation. Thus, it is adopted the one-sided communication to reduce the overhead of MPI communication. Moreover, the allocated memory and communication between cores are optimized, thereby improving 2.97x compared to the original one. Finally, it is achieved 12x and 6x faster using 6,144 and 128 computing cores of KISTI Tachyon2 than using 256 and 16 computing cores for the flow and noise simulations, respectively.

이용한 해마의 부피측정은 해마경화증 환자의 진단에 있어 육안적인 MR 진단이 어려운 제한된 경우에만 실제적 도움을 줄 수 있는 보조적인 방법으로 생각된다.ofile whereas relaxivity at high field is not affected by τS. In this study, scale-down design of full-scale Korean Utility Helicopter (KUH) main rotor blade has been investigated. The scaled model system were designed for the measurement of aerodynamic performance, tip vortex and noise source. For the purpose of considering the same aerodynamic loads, the Mach-scale method has been applied. The Mach-scaled model has the same tip Mach number, and it also has the same normalized frequencies. That is, the Mach-scaled model is analogous to full-scale model in the view point of aerodynamics and structural dynamics. Aerodynamic scale-down process could be completed just by adjusting scaling dimensions and increasing rotating speed. In the field of structural dynamics, design process could be finished by confirming the rotating frequencies of the designed blade with the stiffness and inertial properties distributions produced by sectional design. In this study, small-scaled blade sectional design were performed by applying domestic composite prepregs and structural dynamic characteristics of designed model has been investigated.

In this paper, a dynamic model for the rotor shaft-coupling-blade system is developed. The blades are attached to a disk and driven by an electric motor shaft which is flexible in torsion. We assumed that the shaft torsional flexibility is lumped in the flexible coupling which is usually adopted in rotor systems. The Lagrangian approach with the small deformation theory for both blade-bending and shaft-torsional deformations is employed for developing the equation of the motion. The assumed modes method is used for estimating the blade transverse deflection. The numerical results highlight the effects of both structural damping of the system and the torsional stiffness of the flexible coupling to the dynamic response of the blade. The results showed strong coupling between the blade bending and shaft torsional vibrations in the form of inertial nonlinearif, stiffness hardening and softening.

Golf ball spin rate after impact with club is created by the contact force, which is greatly influenced by ball and club mass, material, impact speed, and club loft angle. Previous studies showed that the contact force is determined as the resultant force of the reaction forces normal and tangential to the club face at the contact point. The normal force causes the compression and restitution of the ball, and the tangential force creates the spin. Especially, the tangential force takes either positive or negative values as the ball rolls and slides along the club face during impact. Although the positive and negative tangential forces are known to create and reduce the back spin rate, respectively, the mechanism of ball spin creation has not yet been discussed in detail. It is shown in this work that the linear impulse of the tangential force is directly related to generation of back spin rate of golf ball. The linear impulse can be calculated from the tangential force, which depends upon many factors such as ball and club mass, material, impact speed, and club loft angle. In this research, the influence of the contact force between golf club and ball is investigated to analyze the mechanism of impact. For this purpose, the contact force and the contact time at impact between golf club head and ball are computed using FEM.
This research presents a nonlinear model to analyze the ball bearing nitration due to the waviness in a rigid rotor supported by multi-row ball bearings. The waviness of a ball and each races is modeled by the superposition of sinusoidal function, and the position vectors of inner and outer groove radius center are defined with respect to the mass center of the rotor in order to consider five degrees of freedom of a general rotor-bearing system. The waviness of a ball bearing is introduced to these position vectors to use the Hertzian contact theory in order to calculate the elastic deflection and nonlinear contact force resulting from the waviness while the rotor has translational and angular motion. They can be determined by solving the nonlinear equations of motion with five degrees of freedom by using the Runge-Kutta-Fehlberg algorithm. Numerical results of this research are validated with those of prior researchers. The proposed model can calculate the translational displacement as well as the angular displacement of the rotor supported by the multi-row ball bearings with waviness. It also characterizes the nitration frequencies resulting from the various kinds of waviness in rolling elements, the harmonic frequencies resulting from the nonlinear load-deflection characteristics of ball bearing. and the sideband frequencies resulting from the waviness interaction.

A very abnormal vibration was occurred at the LP(low pressure) turbine continuously during the pre-operation for a 550MW class USC(ultra super critical) steam turbine. This vibration was initiated at the rotating speed of about 3,450rpm and then the vibration amplitude was highly increased the number by $2{\sim}3$ times with the increase of the rotating speed to the rated speed(3,600rpm). In this paper, this abnormal vibration named spike vibration. This spike vibration was caused by the rubbing between the rotating bucket tip seal and the Lower Half of spill strip. Also, this paper presents the mechanism of the spike vibration and the proper method to eliminate this abnormal vibration problem. This result would be good practice to find the solution of similar high vibration in the USC steam turbines for power plant as well as industrial rotating machineries.
