  • This paper presents a new method of detecting rotor position in Toroidal Switched Reluctance Motor(TSRM). In this paper, low cost and robust characteristics of rotor position detection method are focused in order to compensate for disadvantage of general sensors. Search coils wound through the hole of the stator poles are used for detection of the rotor position in TSRM. Rotor position detection is achieved through electromotive force patterns induced by time-varying flux linkage in the search coils and then adequate phase is excited for drive. The initial rotor position estimation method is also described. The validity of the method is verified by experimental results.

  • A method for driving and position sensing of TSRM(Toroidal Switched Reluctance Motor) using the search coil is presented in this paper. Position information of the rotor is essential for SRM drives. The rotor position sensor such as an opto-interrupter or high performance encoder is generally used for the estimation of rotor position. However, these discrete position sensors not only add complexity and cost to the system but also tend to reduce the reliability of the drive system. In order to solve these problems, in the proposed method, rotor position detection is achieved using the voltage waveforms induced by the time varying flux linkage in the search coils, and then the appropriate phases are excited to drive the SRM. But the search coil EMF is generated only when the motor rotates. Therefore the rotor position sensing method at standstill is also suggested.

  • 지구 화석연료의 고갈로 불안정한 고유가 시대를 살아가는 현대인들에게 자동차 연비는 소비자들이 자동차를 구매할 때 반드시 고려하고 있는 필수 조건이 되었다. 또한 자동차 연비향상 문제는 이산화탄소 배출로 인한 환경문제와도 직접적인 연관이 있다. 연료펌프는 연료탱크로부터 직접적인 펌핑을 통해 유체를 전달하는 장치이며 전동 모터에 의해 구동 된다. 본 논문에서는 연료펌프 전동 시스템인 모터와 제어기를 개발 하였다. 한편 모터를 제어하기 위해서는 회전자의 위치 검출이 필요한데 그 방법으로는 Hall 센서, 엔코더, 리졸버 등을 사용하게 된다. 하지만 연료펌프의 내부는 고온, 고압의 환경 조건이다. 이에 따라 센서리스 제어 방식을 선택 하였으며, 센서를 제거하여 비용절감이 되는 부분에서 본 논문의 주제와도 부합 된다.

  • In this paper, a novel indirect rotor position sensing method is proposed to improve the performance of sensorless drive of brushless DC motors. Fast mode change to the sensorless operation is difficult in the existing indirect rotor position sensing methods because precise rotor position can not be obtained when an excessive input is applied to the drive during synchronous operation mode. To cope with this problem, the relationship between terminal voltage and back-emf waveform is analyzed in this paper, also a novel indirect position sensing method which can detect a precise rotor position at low speed range is proposed. The effectiveness of the proposed method is verified through the experimental results.

  • The first purpose of this paper is to develop the sensorless drive at adjustable speed without any mechanical position or speed sensor. For this, this research analyzes terminal voltage, finds the rotor position information and makes the source of commutations of phase current. The second purpose is to propose the sensing method of initial rotor position without instantaneous rotating. Experimental results show the validity and practical use of the proposed sensing method.

  • In this paper, a detection technique of initial rotor position at a standstill in Toroidal Switched Reluctance Motor(TSRM) with built-in interior central pole search coil is proposed. In case search coils are used as a position sensor, it has many advantages like low cost, decrease in the volume, high robust characteristics and wide applications. However, the initial rotor position detection is very difficult because the search coil's EMF is not exist at a standstill. In this paper, a new detection method of initial rotor position is suggested using interior central pole search coil. The simulation and experiment for the proposed method and their results support the validity of the proposed scheme by verifying the operation of a 6/4 TSRM using search coils.

  • In this paper, we show that the rotor position of the bifilar-wound hybrid stepping motors for the closed-loop drives is detected by the phase current measurement. We propose an instantaneous phase current equation, which is the function of electrical angle, by the modeling of the stepping motor including motor driving circuits. We also analyze the relationship between phase current and rotor position from the computer simulation results. It is shown that the information about the rotor position is obtained from the phase current amplitude and its derivatives at the instance of ${\pi}/2$ electrical angle of excitation voltage.

  • In this paper proposes a very simple method to estimate the rotor position of a switched reluctance motor. By on-line estimating the self-inductance of the motor, the rotor position of the SR motor is obtained, and a closed-loop drive system can be achieved. Proposed methods can easy implement to application with sensorless SR motor drive system. Speed 2000rpm SR motor simulation executed with self inductance estimation and result represented. Simulation result verified the rotor position using the proposed self-inductance estimation method.

  • This paper describes a novel method of detecting excitation position in switched reluctance motor(SRM) drive. Some strategies of position sensorless control methods for the motor include the measurement of phase current and applied pulse voltage in an unexcited phase is suggested. The principle of the estimation of a rotor position is based on the detection of inductance by pulse currents. This sensorless method is very simple to detect excitation position estimation and gives efficient control of drive system. Suggested method is verified by some simulations.
