Reflector Matching Mechanism for AGV's Localization (AGV 위치측정을 위한 반사체의 매칭 기법)

  • 본 논문은 레이저 내비게이션(laser navigation)의 위치측정을 위한 반사체 매칭(matching) 기법을 제안한다. 레이저 내비게이션은 레이저 헤더가 360도로 회전하면서 벽면에 부착되어 있는 반사체의 위치를 측정하는 장치이다. 기존의 레이저 내비게이션을 이용한 매칭방법은 계측된 반사체들을 이미 알고 있는 실제 반사체의 각각에 평행 이동시켜 회전 하면서 매칭하는 방법이었다. 하지만 기존의 방법은 연산량이 많아 AGV의 위치를 측정하기 위해 많은 시간을 요구한다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 기존 문제를 해결하기 위해, 실제 반사체들의 위치를 AGV의 위치로 가정하고 실제 반사체들을 회전하여 계측된 반사체를 매칭하는 방법을 제안한다. 실험은 레이저 내비게이션이 설치된 실제 AGV를 5회 회전 주행시켜 반사체를 계측 받고 제안된 방법으로 위치측정한 결과를 분석하였다. 실험 결과, 제안된 방법은 적은 연산으로 정확히 반사체를 매칭 할 수 있음을 확인하였다.

Fault diagnosis system of the short circuit conditions in windings for synchronous generator (동기발전기 권선단락사고 고장진단 시스템)

  • As the increasing of capacity and technology of power facilities, rotating machines are getting higher at capacity and voltage scale. Thus the monitoring and diagnosis of generators for fault detection has attracted intensive interest. In this paper, we developed fault diagnosis system for monitoring the fault operations in bad power systems. In order to verify the performance of this fault diagnosis system, we made the small scaled testing system which has the same winding structure of the real synchronous generator. The magnetic flux patterns in air-gap of a small-scale generator under various fault states as well as a normal state are tested by hall sensors and the fault detection system.

  • Physically-based researches on simulating helicopter motions have been achieved in the field of aeronautics, aerodynamics and others. These results, however, have not been appled in the computer graphics area, mainly due to their complex equations and heavy computations. In this paper, we propose a dynamics model of helicopter rotor blades, which would be easy to implement, and suitable for real-time simulations of helicopters in the computer graphics area. Helicopters fly by the forces due to the collisions between air and rotor blades. These forces can be interpreted as the impulsive forces between the fluid and the rigid body. Based on these impulsive forces, we propose an approximated dynamics model of rotor blades, and it enables us to simulate the helicopter motions using existing rigid body simulation methods. We compute forces due to the movement of rotor blades according to the Newton's method, to achieve its real-time computations. Our prototype implementation shows real-time aerial navigation of helicopters, which are murk similar to the realistic motions.

A Study on High Speed Image Rotation Algorithm using CUDA (CUDA를 이용한 고속 영상 회전 알고리즘에 관한 연구)

  • Image rotation is one of main pre-processing step in image processing or image pattern recognition. It is implemented with rotation matrix multiplication. However it requires lots of floating point arithmetic operations and trigonometric function calculations, so it takes long execution time. We propose a new high speed image rotation algorithm without two major time-consuming operations. It use just 2 shear translation operations, so it is very fast. In addition, we apply a parallel computing technique with CUDA. CUDA is a massively parallel computing architecture using prevailed GPU recently. As GPU is a dedicated graphic processor, it is exellent for parallel processing of pixels. We compare the proposed algorithm with the conventional rotation one with various size images. Experimental results show that the proposed algorithm is superior to the conventional rotation ones.

Rotated Face Detection Using Symmetry Detection (대칭성 검출에 의한 회전된 얼굴검출)

  • In many face recognition applications such as security systems, it is assumed that upright faces are given to the system. In order for the system to be used in more general environments, the system should be able to deal with the rotated faces properly. It is a generally used approach to rotate the face detection window and apply face detector repeatedly to detect a rotated face in the given image. But such an approach requires a lot of computation time. In this paper, a method of extracting the axis of symmetry for a given set of points is proposed. The axis of symmetry for the edge points in the face detection window is extracted in a way that is fast and accurate, and the face detector is applied only for that direction. It is shown that the mean and standard deviation of the symmetry detection error is $0^{\circ}$ and $3^{\circ}$ respectively, for the database used.

  • This paper described the ultimate strength and deformation limit of the new uniplanar T-joints in cold-formed square hollow sections. In the configuration of the new T-joint, only a branch member is orientated to a chord member at 45 degrees in the plane of the truss. This study focused on the branch-rotated T-joints that were governed by chord flange failure in previous studies. Test results of the T-joint in cold-formed square hollow sections revealed a deformation limit of 3%B for $16.7{\leq}2{\gamma}(=B/T){\leq}33.3$ and $0.27{\leq}{\beta}(=b1/B){\leq}0.6$. The existing strength formulae for traditional T-joint were determined and a new yield-line model for the branch-rotated T-joint proposed. Finally, the strength formula on the yield-line analysis was compared with test results and the application range of the proposed formula recommended.

동적반복하중을 받는 R/C 부재의 해석모델에 관한 최근 연구 동향

  • 현재까지의 철근콘크리트(R/C)부재의 이력거동을 예측하기 위한 이론적 연구는 대부분이 휨 변위량이 전체 변위량을 지배한다는 가정하에 휨 해석을 행하고 있다. 그러나 지진과 같은 탄성한계를 벗어난 강한 동적반복하중을 받는 경우 철근 콘크리트 부재의 변위량은 휨 변위량 뿐만 아니라 전단 변위량 및 부재연결부에서의 회전 변위량에 의해 지배됨이 많은 연구를 통해 밝혀졌다. 전단이력거동은 강성과 강도저하가 심하게 나타나고 낮은 에너지 발산능력을 갖는 특징에 의해 휨 이력거동과는 구별되며 반복하중이 계속되면 강성이 저하되는 경향때문에 전단변형이 R/C부재의 거동을 지배하게 된다. 이러한 부재거동의 특징에 견주어 볼 때 현재 사용되고 있는 해석모델을 이용하여 동적응답을 예측하고, 해석하여 설계된 기존의 R/C부재는 강한 동적하중을 받을 경우 해석적으로는 전혀 예측치 못하게 되는 결과를 초래하게 된다.

  • In this study, the rheological characteristics of kerosene based gel propellants were investigated. For the gelling agent, Thixatrol$^{(R)}$ has been used with 100 nm nano-sized aluminium particle addition. Three gellant contents of 2.5 wt%, 5 wt% and 7.5 wt% kerosene gels were first investigated where aluminium particles contents of 10 wt% and 20 wt% were added to 7.5 wt% gellant case. The viscosities of each sample measured by rotational rheometer show that the viscosity augments as gellant or aluminium content increases while the 20 wt% aluminum content resulted in failure of measurement due to the agglomerations of aluminum particles.

  • Seed separation from half-cut red pepper were investigated with free falling, up-and-down shaking and rotating collision methods. The separation rates were related with impact appiied and the rotating case was distinguished from the other two methods. Beside the impact effect, velocity of the pod and tumbling factors were involved. Momentum effectiveness of seed separation were calculated as $2.50{\times}10^{-6}$, $2.09{\times}10^{-6}$, and $3.94{\times}10^{-8}$ for free falling, shaking and rotating method on the same velocity basis, respectively. The tendency of separation rate was similar to that of red pepper drying rate against time.

Analysis of Drying Efficiency for Circulating and Falling Movements on Indirected Drying Process of Food Waste (음식물류폐기물 간접건조과정에서의 순환 및 낙하이동에 따른 건조효율 평가)

  • Indirected heating dryer is used as one of the food waste treatment technologies for the production of the drier material supplied to the recycling facilities or end user. This study investigated the effect on drying efficiency for the operation of rotating screw with the circulating and falling movements on indirected drying process of food waste. The screw operating condition showed higher drying efficiency despite of the shorter drying time compared to the screw non-operating condition. The moisture content decreased to 14.4% from the initial moisture content of 77.1% after drying 5 hours in the screw operating condition. On the other hand, in the screw non-operating condition, the moisture content decreased slightly to 35.6% after drying 16 hours. During the drying process, variations of the water evaporation rate and particle size showed different tendencies depending on the moisture content regions. In the higher moisture content region above the glue zone(moisture content of about 50%-60%), the particle size increased and the water evaporation rate reached the highest peak. In the range of glue zone, the particle size maximized while the water evaporation rate decreased sharply. In the lower moisture content region below the glue zone, the water evaporation rate and particle size both decreased at the same time. The particle size distribution was widely ranged from 25.0mm to 0.25mm in the screw operating condition while it was narrowly distributed in the screw non-operating condition from 25.0mm to 3.56mm, especially highly concentrated to 25.0mm. It was regarded that the hygroscopic, capillary and gravitational water evaporated more easily from the intra-particle during the circulating and falling movement caused by the rotating of the screw and the difference of the cohesional force of water within intra-particle depending on the moisture content regions. Comparing the effect of the circulating and falling movement on drying efficiency, the water evaporation rates per time and per weight of dry solid in the screw operating condition were higher about 364% and 356%, respectively, than those of the screw non-operating condition.
