Estimation on Storage Yard Occupancy Ratio of Container Terminal: A Case of Busan New Port Container Terminal (컨테이너터미널 장치장 점유율 추정 연구: 부산항 신항 컨테이너 터미널을 중심으로)

  • With advancements of quay side handling equipment and technologies, congestion in terminal operation has moved to the storage yard side from the quay side. The importance of storage yard management has increased in overall terminal operation. Thus, many studies have been conducted to optimize the storage yard management of container terminals. However, there is no academic work to estimate the change of storage yard occupancy ratio by itself in the future. This paper examines the probability of storage yard occupancy ratio in the container terminal of Busan New port using the Markov chain analysis which explains probability change with passing time. The result shows that it is most likely to have the probability of maintaining a high level of storage yard occupancy ratio in the container terminal of Busan New Port.

  • Busan Port is being operated inefficiently by a number of container terminal operators, which are dispersed in small groups. In particular, the small terminal at Busan Port is causing the dispersion of quantity, the increase of ITT cargo and the occurrence of a ship waiting at sea as the ship's Alliance became larger in 2016. As a result, studies such as integrated operations for the larger container terminals are being conducted. Therefore, in this study, we intend to set up a type of integrated operation for terminals at the new port of Busan and measure the practical effects through simulation to present an ideal direction for integrated operation.

  • Most q the domestic container terminals are inferior to throughput q container. The reason why they have the difference between the handling capacity q planed quay and its real. By putting into quay handling equipment, the productivity of quay can be improved, waiting rate q the ship can be lowed. This paper suggests more resonable terminal construction, throughout comparing with previous construction way, improved handling capacity and the economical efficiency of equipment costs, labor costs, construction costs, operation costs on change of terminal size by adding the equipment.

  • It is connected with various gauges existing in Euro-Asian continents. Such differences impedes the operation seriously as on the contact of railway tracks of different gauge the cargo must be either transshipped or the running assemblies of rail vehicles must be exchanged. Those operations are costly, time-consuming and require extended infrastructure together with very expensive storage and transshipment facilities at border-crossing point. Moreover, those operations extend transportation time considerably. Therefore, effectiveness of railway transportation systems significantly depends on track gauge change 1435/1520mm, which connects with complicated handling-shifting operations. The paper concerns assessment of effectiveness in strategical rail systems with gauge changing. The paper presents short description of transport system with gauge changing and initial assessment of shifting technologies. Method of system assessment comparison based on Life Cycle Cost model is described here as well.

  • CRM (Customer relationship management) has become increasingly relevant in the public sector as citizens have become accustomed to high levels of service in private sectors. Public sectors have begun to emphasize on their customers and customer service quality. Thus to improve the service quality in citizens, public sectors conduct several types of surveys to analyze customer satisfaction and employee satisfaction on their product/services. Most of the public sector organizations, however, are reluctant to conduct the total survey targeting the whole teams and analyze the relationship among types of surveys because of the limitation of budget and time. In this paper, we propose the methodology to analyze the relationship of customer satisfaction index, employee satisfaction index and KPI achievement of whole teams and a framework which identifies key action initiatives and builds KPI.

  • In order for Busan New Port to secure more trading volumes than the competing ports at home and abroad, an alternative plan for the new port management policy needs to be sought. By the way, aiming to minimize trial and error while maximizing effect in establishing and driving the new port management policy, there is necessity of referring to the developmental strategies of the advanced ports such as Singapore and Hong Kong that are possessing the globally leading position as well as maximizing the substantial value added and the employment-creation effect even qualitatively. Accordingly, the purpose of this study is to propose for a reasonable development strategy for Busan New Port in line with conditions and characteristics of Busan New Port by comparing and analyzing conditions and characteristics of these two advanced ports and by comparative analysis on the developmental strategy according to this.

A Critique on Kim, Mandoo -Based on His Social Work Practice and Literatures- (김만두 비평 -그의 실천경험과 연구문헌 중심으로-)

  • This study aims to grasp a slice of development of Korean Social Welfare. For this study, a character critique has been conducted on Kim, Man-doo who had been superbly equiped by social work practice and study as well. The accomplished critique came from literature criticism is based on his social work practice and his literatures. Five and six themes have been elicited each from Kim's social work practice and his literatures. Through the association of those two kinds of themes has been finally reasoned out another five themes; emphasis on integrated approach, encompassment of social welfare from America and Japan, virtuous cycling formation of Social Welfare, paradigm shift of Social Welfare, and regrettable unfinished harmony of practice and study. In regards to the results, some subjects are discussed as follows; Kim's social work practice had been refined crossing the social welfare system, a slice of Korean social welfare in 1960-90s was exposed, children-based social work practice in 1960s had been practiced unitedly, and Korean Social Welfare in 1960-80s had been structured differently according to the scholars'inclination.

  • 최근에 세계화, 무역자유화에 따른 컨테이너 물동량이 증가하고 있다. 그에 발맞추어 초대형 컨테이너선이 등장하게 되고 신개념, 고효율의 항만인프라의 도입이 요구되고 있다. 이런 배경에 따라 최근에 국내외에서 부유식 안벽에 관한 기술 개발 및 연구가 더욱 필요한 상황이다. 부유식 안벽은 이동가능한 부유식 구조로 기존 항만의 확장 또는 신규 항만 건설시 환경문제를 최소화하고 기항, 선박수 및 선박의 크기에 따른 안벽 배열을 최적화 할 수 있어 항만 기능을 고도화함으로써 녹색항만을 구현하는데 많은 기여를 하게 될 것이다. 특히 컨테이너선의 양현하역과 환적이 가능하게 되어 컨테이너 터미널의 화물처리능력을 확대할 수 있을 뿐 아니라 기항선박의 체류시간을 최소화 할 수 있는 장점이 있다. 또한, 우리나라는 삼면이 바다로 크고 작은 항만들이 해안선을 따라 위치하고 있다. 이러한 항만들을 안전하게 보호하기 위한 방파제는 항만 기본시설인 외곽시설 중의 가장 중요한 구조물이다. 국내에 설치된 방파제는 대부분 사석이나 케이슨을 이용한 중력식 방파제로써 해저에 고정되어 해수면상으로 건설되므로 항내 외 해수교환을 차단하여 항내 수질악화를 초래할 뿐만 아니라 수심에 따라 막대한 건설비용이 소요된다. 따라서 친환경적이고 경제적인 새로운 형식의 방파제에 대한 연구 및 개발이 필요한 실정이다. 그 중 하나의 대안인 부유식 방파제는 공사기간이 짧고 비교적 수심에 대한 제약이 없는 것이 특징이다. 또한 해수의 원활한 흐름이 가능하기 때문에 중력식 방파제에 비해 경제적이며, 환경적 측면에서 큰 장점이 있다. 하지만 아직까지 부유식 방파제에 대한 국내 및 해외에서의 연구는 이론적인 해석을 중심으로 이루어져 부유식 방파제 실용화를 위한 많은 연구가 수행되어야 할 것으로 판단된다. 본 연구에서는 부유식 안벽 내에서 정온도를 효과적으로 유지하기 위하여 부유식 방파제를 설치하고 소파성능과 부유식 안벽내의 영향성을 수리모형실험을 통해 분석하였다.

An Analysis of a Mediating Effect of Job Satisfaction on the Relationship between Education and Training of Female Managers and Life Satisfaction (여성 관리자의 교육훈련과 삶의 만족의 관계에서 직무만족의 매개효과 분석)

  • The purposes of this study were to examine the relationships between education and training, job satisfaction, and life satisfaction for female managers and to analyze the mediating effect of job satisfaction on the relationship between education and training and life satisfaction. Statistical analysis was conducted on a total of 1,381 female managers using the data from the 6th Korean Women Manager Panel Survey. The results of the study were as follows. First, education and training had a significant positive impact on job satisfaction. Second, education and training had a significant positive impact on life satisfaction. Third, job satisfaction had a significant positive impact on life satisfaction. Fourth, job satisfaction had a partial mediating effect on the relationship between education and training and life satisfaction. Additional research on education, job satisfaction, and life relations of female workers is needed. In order to establish a virtuous cycle of education and training, work, and life for female managers, related government policies and systems need to be improved.
