  • The purpose of this study is to define the implications for improving the performance confidence of nursing students. The study was conducted by surveying a target sample of nursing students. The following data were collected: students' knowledge regarding patient safety, performance confidence, and nursing professional value. The subjects were 309 junior and senior students in the department of nursing science in K University located in G and K province. The data was collected from October 15, 2017 to November 15, 2017. The collected data were analyzed with the SPSS 23.0K using descriptive statistics, t-test, One-Way ANOVA, and Pearson Correlation Coefficient. The study results were that the senior students showed a significantly higher level of knowledge about patient safety than did the junior students (t=3.69, p<.001). With the exceptions of two attributes, education regarding the patient safety and nursing professional value, all other characteristics were variables to a significant difference in performance confidence (p<.05). Moreover, all characteristics except for the school year were variables to a significant difference in nursing professional value (p<.05). A weak correlation was shown between the knowledge regarding patient safety and performance confidence (r=.148, p<.001). A moderate correlation was shown between nursing professional value and performance confidence (r=.456, p<.001). Reinforced education regarding patient safety is recommended to improve the nursing students' performance confidence for clinical practice.

Subjects were 164 associate nursing students associate nursing students(3·4rd). The data were collected using self -report questionnaire from May 17 to June 14, 2019. Data were analyzed by descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson correlation and hierarchical multiple regression with SPSS/WIN 23.0. Mean point of perception of importance of communication(5 point scale) was 3.75. self-esteem(4 point scale) was 3.64, and communication skill(5 point scale) was 3.60 and patient safety attitude(5 point scale) was 4.44. Patient safety attitude were positively correlated with perception of importance of communication (r=.57, p<.001), self-esteem(r=.32. p <.001) and communication skill(r=.34. p <.001) of nursing students. Perception of importance of communication(β=.520, p<.001), self-esteem(β=.165, p=.039) explained 34.76% of total variance of patient safety attitude of nursing students. Using the SPSS Win. 25.0 program, technical statistics, t-test, one-way ANOVA, Pearson correlation coefficient, and hierarchical multiple regression were analyzed. As a result of analyzing variables affecting the subject's patient safety management activities with multiple regression using hierarchical selection, the higher the shared leadership, the higher the patient safety management. In order to efficiently perform nursing for nurses' patient safety management activities, research should be continuously conducted to develop specific intervention programs that can support patient safety nursing activities and verify their effectiveness

  • The safety and success of dental sedation for children depend mainly on respiratory status of patients. A special condition, that is, nasal breathing in supine position with their oral airway blocked by rubber dam, should be considered. Therefore, irrespective of medical consultation, pediatric dentists themselves should do respiratory assessment especially adenotonsillar hypertrophy, nasal obstruction, posterior nasal drainage and airway hypersensitivity. Patients with sinusitis, allergic rhinitis, asthma, snoring and OSAS(obstructive sleep apnea syndrome) can induce the sedation failure and complete management of these can improve the safety of dental sedation.

  • In this study, we analyzed situation and length of stay(LOS) variations of inpatients with pressure ulcer using patient safety indicators developed by the United States Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality(AHRQ) and proposed management of medical quality and development of policy. The dataset was taken from 1,373 database of the hospital discharge injury survey from 2005 to 2008. Analysis method was used frequency and chi-square test, ANOVA, multiple linear regression analysis. In result, distribution of inpatients with pressure ulcer by sex were 52.5%(male), 47.5%(female), respectively and aged $65{\geqq}years$ was the highest in age group. LOS of inpatients with nervous system principal disease was the longest. Independent variables which were statistically associated with LOS of inpatients with pressure ulcer were year, sex, insurance type, bed size, operation, principal diagnosis. Therefore, hospital should develop the standardized strategy and guidelines to manage pressure ulcer inpatients efficiently and apply it into the medical information system.
