A Study on Ventilation System of Underground Low-Intermediate Radioactive Waste Repository (지하 동굴식 중-저준위 방사성 폐기물 처분장의 환기시스템 고찰)

  • The pollutants (Rn, CH, CO, HS, radioactive gas from radiolysis) were generated from the process of construction and operation of underground repository, and after disposal of low-intermediate radioactive waste inside there must be controlled by a ventilation system to distribute them in area where enough air is supported. Therefore, a suitable technical approach is needed especially at an underground repository that is equipped with many entry tunnels, storage tunnels, exhaust-blowing tunnels, and vertical shafts in complicated network form. For the technical approach of such a ventilation system, WIPP (Waste Isolation Pilot Plant) in U. S and SFR (Slutforvar for Reaktorafall) low-intermediate radioactive waste repository in Sweden were selected as the models, for calculating the required air quantity, organizing a ventilation network considering cross section, length, surface roughness of the air passage, and describing a calculation of resistance of each circuit. Based on these procedures, a best suited ventilation system was completed with designing proper capacity of fans and operating plan of vertical shafts. As a result of comparing the two repositories based on the geometry dimensions and ventilation facility equipment operation, more parallel circuit as in WIPP, brought decrease in resistance for entire system leading to reduce of operating costs, and the larger cross-sectional area of the SFR, the greater the percentage of disposal capacity. Accordingly, the mixture of parallel circuit of WIPP repository for reducing resistance and SFR repository formation for enlargement of disposal capacity would be the most rational and efficient ventilation system.

  • The objective of this research is to analyze the ventilation performance of mechanical ventilation systems to enhance removal efficiency of indoor hamful gases. The ventilation performance is evaluated using a step-down method based on ASTM Standard E741-83. The ventilation performance is evaluated as a function of the ventilation rate and supply/extract locations using a tracer gas ($CO_2$) technique. As a result, the $CO_2$ concentration as a function of time is decayed exponentially and the ventilation performance is found to increase with increased the ventilation rate. The ventilation performance of the second type ventilation system is better than that of the first type or the third type. The ventilation performance without human occupancy increases up to 55% and the ventilation performance with one person increases up to 25% at the supply air of 570Lpm comparing with a natural reduction after one hour in the test chamber. The ventilation performance is better than 15% comparing with natural decay at the supply of 570Lpm in an office room.

A numerical study on the ventilation characteristics of rainfall in road tunnel (강우변화를 고려한 도로터널의 환기특성에 관한 수치해석)

  • When rainfall occurred on road tunnel, that is likely to have influence upon ventilation force in the tunnels but the tunnels ventilation system did not consider factors of rainfall. Thus, this study investigated effects of rainfall upon ventilation force in the tunnels at no rainfall and changing of rainfall by 3 dimensional numerical method. Flow rate into road tunnels decreased as many as 52.34% at rainfall of 150 mm/hr, and pressure drop of road tunnel between entrance and exit decreased as many as 22.22%, so that rainfall had influence upon ventilation force in the tunnel. The number of necessary jet fan in road tunnels is 12 at no rainfall but, when rainfall of 80 mm/hr on road tunnels, the number of necessary jet fan in road tunnels is 16, when rainfall of 150 mm/hr on road tunnels, the number of necessary jet fan in road tunnels is 17. So, factor of rainfall should be considered at estimation of ventilation system of road tunnel.

  • 1970년대부터 사용된 변풍량 공조 시스템 (Variable Air Volume System)은 실내 부하 변동에 따라 급기 온도를 일정하게 유지시키고 실별, 존별 송풍량을 변화시켜 실온을 제어하는 방식으로, 에너지 절약, 개별 제어 등의 장점 때문에 적용이 확대되었고 특히 단일덕트 변풍량 공조 시스템은 이러한 이유 때문에 많은 건물에 적용되고 있다. 그러나 현 제어시스댐의 풍량 측정의 문제점과 공조기내에서 풍량변화 및 급/배기 댐퍼의 개도 변경으로 인한 환기 댐퍼의 비선형 특성을 고려하지 않고 제어하기 때문에 외기량 확보를 정확히 유지 못하는 실정이다. 따라서 단일덕트 변풍량 시스템의 환기댐퍼 및 급기, 환기 팬의 제어 방식의 종류와 특성 및 문제점에 대하여 설명하고자 한다.

  • The present research aimed at development of a computer code for the optimal design of ventilation system based on one-dimensional analysis of the air flow. Model experiment and three-dimensional flow analysis have been implemented to determine loss coefficients that were needed for the optimization technique. A research on optimum shape of ventilation shaft has been also carried out through the three-dimensional analysis of the flow.

  • 최근 인구 증대 및 도시 집중화에 따른 지상공간 부족의 대안 및 택지 이용도 효율 방안으로 지하공간 개발의 필요성이 증대되고 있다 특히 날로 증대되고 있는 지하공간에서의 문제점으로 설계 및 용도에 적합한 환기 시스템의 도입 및 운영의 미흡으로 공기질 악화 현상과 국민 보건상의 문제로 노출되고 있는 실정이다. 환기시스템은 일상적 공간환기는 물론 화재시의 배연기능을 포함한다. 따라서, 정상적인 작동(일반 환기)과는 별도로 비정상 환경(화재시의 배연)에서의 중요성이 인식되고 있다. 따라서, 시스템 설계 오류는 화재발생시 중대한 인명피해로 연결됨으로서 그 중요성은 아무리 강조하여도 지나침이 없다 이미 미국, 일본, 노르웨이 등의 선진 외국에서는 지하공간의 최적환경 개선은 국민 삶의 질 향상이라는 관점 하에 꾸준히 진행되어오고 있다. $^{(1~3)}$ 우리나라에서도 서울1기 지하철을 시작으로 교통난의 해소를 위하여 2005년까지 총연장 60km에 이를 것으로 전망됨에 따라 지하공간의 공기질 개선 및 화재시의 배연설비의 최적화가 요구된다.(중략)
