Viability Selection at an Allozyme Locus during Development in European Beech (Fagus sylvatica L.) (유럽 너도밤나무(Fagus sylvatica L.) 유묘발달(幼苗發達) 동안의 한 동위효소(同位酵素) 유전자좌(遺傳子座)에서의 생존력선택(生存力選擇))

  • The genetic structures at one leucine aminopeptidase locus (LAP-A) of acorns, seedling raised in greenhouse and forest form the two beech provenances. West Germany and Rumania, were investigated and compared with each other. In many pair wise comparisons significant differences in genotypic structure as well as genic structure were ascertained between different developmental stages. In both the provenances, the allele $A_2$ seems to have advantage at both seedling stages raised under two different conditions. Homozygous carriers of $A_2$ allele survived best in greenhouse, while heterozygous carriers especially with $A_2$ allele possessed great viability under more variable environmental conditions. Since a distinct different genetic background was present in two base populations, the identical effect of the allele $A_2$ confirms the adaptiveness of this locus. With aid of some measures such as viability parameter and genetic distance, the character of occurred viability selection of further explained. The possible significance of this locus at this early stage is discussed in relation to adaptation of this long lived tree species to heterogeneous environment.

Evolution of sea Urchin Strongylocentrotus intermedius Based on DNA Sequences of a Mitochondrial Gene, Cytochrome c Oxidase Subunit I (미토콘드리아 유전자, 치토그롬 옥시다제(subunit I)의 염기서열을 이용한 새치성게(Strongylocentrotus intermedius)의 진화과정 분석)

  • Sea urchin S. intermedius occurring in the Korean east coast is a cold water species that belongs to the family Strongylocentrotidae of Echinoidea. Although it is known that there are nine species in the family, species identification criteria, phylogenetic relationships, time and process of evolution of the family members have not been uncovered clearly. In the present study, I tried to find some clues to such problems for S. intermedius by means of DNA sequences. For this, cytochrome c oxidase subunit I (COI), one of the mitochondrial genes that evolve fast and follow maternal inheritance was analyzed. DNA was extracted from the female gonad of S. intermedius, a segment of COI gene amplified by polymerase chain reaction (PCR), and finally a total of 1077 base pair sequence of COI obtained by cloning and sequencing the PCR product. The sequence was compared with homologous genes of other sea urchins and echinoderm species. Phylogenetic trees of the COI gene segment revealed that S. intenedius is a sister species of S. purpuratus which lives along the east coast of the Paciflc. With reference to the fossil records of sea urchins and genetic distances in the molecular phylogenies, it is estimated that the two species were separated about 0.89 million years ago when the earth temperature fluctuated significantly. The current disjunct distribution patterns of the two species and the climate change of the earth at the time of separation suggest that speciation might have occurred by vicariance. The COI gene sequence obtained here now can be used as a molecular character which discerns S. intermedius from the other sea urchin species of Strongylocentrotidae.

Molecular characterization of juvenile hormone signaling pathway-related genes in the brackish water flea Diaphanosoma celebensis (기수산 물벼룩의 유충 호르몬(Juvenile hormone) 신호전달경로 관련 유전자의 특성 분석)

  • In crustaceans, molting is regulated by interactions between ecdysteroid and juvenile hormone (JH) signaling pathway-related genes. Unlike the ecdysteroid signaling pathway, little information on the role of JH signaling pathway-related genes in molting is available in zooplanktonic crustaceans. In this study, three genes (juvenile hormone acid O-methyltransferase (JHAMT), methoprene-tolerant (Met), and juvenile hormone epoxide hydrolase (JHEH)) which are involved in the synthesis, receptor-binding, and degradation of JH were identified using sequence and phylogenetic analysis in the brackish water flea, Diaphanosoma celebensis. Transcriptional changes in these genes during the molting cycle in D. celebensis were analyzed. Sequence and phylogenetic analysis revealed that these putative proteins may be functionally conserved along with those of insects and other crustaceans. In addition, the expression of the three genes was correlated with the molting cycle of D. celebensis, indicating that these genes may be involved in the synthesis and degradation of JH, resulting in normal molting. This study will provide information for a better understanding of the role of JH signaling pathway-related genes during the molting process in Cladocera.

  • This paper proposes bridge diagnosis system using Embedded LINUX and Genetic algorithm. The proposed system consists of MPC860 processor, FPCA, Bridge sensors and Genetic algorithm for bridge diagnosis. And the proposed system can operate with World Wide Web in GUI environment by lava, therefore, system is useful in diagnosing bridge at all times. Using genetic algorithm, this system can measure various bridge sensors with best gain and offset, therefore, range of measurement can be enlarged. Proposed system is certified by system-based test. .

  • 본 연구에서는 수중 음의 전달에 작용하는 기하와 지음향 매개변수들을 전역 최적화(global optimization) 방법인 유전자 알고리듬을 사용하여 추정하려한다. 유전자 알고리듬은 목적함수가 불규칙적인 경우에도 모든 가능한 매개변수들을 조사하지 않으면서 전역 최대치 또는 최소치를 추정할 수 있는 최적화 방법으로, 정합장처리와 관련된 매개변수의 조사에 적합한 방향성 조사법이라 할 수 있다. 유전자 알고리듬을 이용하여 천해 해양환경에서 수치실험을 통해 매개변수 역산의 가능성을 살펴보도록 하였다.

  • 본 연구에서는 유전자 재조합 발광 박테리아를 이용하여 농약에 대한 박테리아의 스트레스 반응과 세포 독성을 분석하였다. 15종류의 농약에 대하여 유전자 손상, 생물막 손상, 산화적 손상 및 단백질 손상을 측정할 수 있는 발광 박테리아와 독성 유무로 인한 세포 독성을 측정할 수 있는 발광 박테리아, 5종을 이용하여 스트레스 반응을 분류하고 세포 독성 정토를 분석하였다. 그 결과, 농약의 화학적 구조가 박테리아의 스트레스 반응에 영향을 미치며, 산화과정이 진행 됨에 따라 독성의 작용 기작이 변하는 것을 확인 할 수 있었다. 이와 같은, 유전자 재조합 발광 박테리아를 이용한 생물체내의 독성 메커니즘에 대한 분석은 생태계 유해물질들에 의한 독성을 분석하고 예상하기 위해 적용될 수 있을 것이다.

  • 통신 시스템에 대한 관심은 인터넷의 급격한 발전에 의해 가상공간의 출현과 유비쿼터스 컴퓨팅 환경 구축에 대한 요구가 증대됨에 따라 관련 이론 및 기술의 발전을 주도해 왔다. 이와 관련한 문제들 중에 가장 근간이 되는 문제들 중 하나는 최적 통신 걸침 나무 (OCST: Optimal Communication Spanning Tree) 문제이다. 본 논문에서는 이러한 최적 통신 걸침 나무 문제를 해결하기 위해 유전 알고리즘 (GA)를 이용한다. 유전 알고리즘을 이용함에 있어서 중요한 단계중 하나는 유전자표현을 어떻게 문제에 적합하게 설계하느냐이다. 본 논문에서는 걸침나무를 표현하기 위해 기존의 $Pr\ddot{u}fer$수 기반의 유전자 표현법을 개선하여 n개의 노드에 대해 n-2개의 숫자열로 표현가능하면서도 보다 더 최적 통신 걸침 문제에 적합하도록 고안한 새로운 유전자 표현법을 이용한다. 임의로 생성된 예제에 대한 수치 실험을 통해 통신시스템의 기본 문제 중 하나인 최적 통신 걸침 문제의 해법으로서의 제안 알고리즘의 유용성과 효율성을 확인한다.
