  • Emergency response guidelines play an important role which reduce consequence of accident. For development of useful emergency response guidelines, engineering methodology should be applied to the development procedures. In this study accident propagation model, bow-tie methods, emergency response decision methods were applied to existing emergency response guideline develop procedure. In this way, this study suggest generalized emergency response guideline develop procedures. Also a sheet was developed using suggested procedures to make sample guidelines for a case.

  • 전 세계적인 기후변화로 인하여 선박 내 이용되는 물과 관련된 배출 규제도 매년 강화되고 있는 추세이다. 심해지는 규제를 만족하기 위하여 다양한 선박용 수처리 기술이 개발되고 있으며, 고도화 연구가 활발히 진행되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 선박 내에서 이루어지는 수처리 공정인 선박 평형수(ballast water)처리, 조수기(fresh water generator)를 통한 선박 내 용수 공급, 대기오염 저감을 위한 스크러버(wet scrubber) 폐세정수 처리 공정과 관련된 국제해사기구(international maritime organication, IMO)와 같은 국제적인 규제 및 특정지역과 연안에 위치한 주정부 기관의 규제 현황에 대해 문헌조사를 통해 정리하였다. 이를 바탕으로 다양한 선박 내 수자원 활용과 규제에 부합하기 위해 적용되고 있는 관련 수처리 기술을 용도별로 정리하였으며, 현재 기존기술의 효율 개선 및 신기술 도입과 관련된 연구 현황을 정리하였다. 이러한 선박 내 수처리 현황 및 향후 적용될 기술개발연구를 바탕으로 지속가능한 해양환경 조성 및 기후변화 대응이 가능할 것으로 기대된다.

An Experimental Study on Evaluation of Axially Compressive Buckling Strength of Corroded Temporary Steel (부식 손상된 가시설 강재의 축압축 좌굴강도 추정에 관한 실험적 연구)

  • Steel structures have been generally painted to prevent corrosion damage. However, the painted film is deteriorated with increase in service life, and then corrosion damage resulting in cross sectional area occurs on steel surface. As a result, the buckling strength of steel structures can be decreased due to the corrosion damages. The evaluation method of the axial buckling strength of columns about a variety of section shapes and supporting conditions have been presented, but evaluation method of buckling strength about irregular nonprismatic columns is not established. In this study, the axial buckling strength of corroded steels was evaluated based on the buckling test results of corroded steel specimens that were cut off at a temporary steel structure. The corroded specimens were picked up total 10 specimens according to various slenderness ratio from the web of a temporary structure's main beam. The length of specimens is 200, 300, 400, 500 and 600mm respectively. The rust productions were removed by the chemical treatment. Then, the surface geometry was measured at intervals of $1{\times}1mm$ by using the optical 3D digitizing system, and the residual thickness of the specimens was calculated. The axial buckling test was performed on 10 corroded specimens and 12 non-corroded specimens under the fixed-fixed support condition. From the test results, the effect of corrosion damages on axial buckling load was investigated. Regardless of corrosion damage degree, the axial buckling strength of corroded specimens and non-corroded specimens was evaluated identically by using minimum average residual thickness or average residual thickness to minus its standard deviation. Reasonable measuring intervals of residual thickness was proposed by using the results to apply for practical works.

Interfacial Properties of Propylene Oxide Adducted Sodium Laureth Sulfate Anionic Surfactant (프로필렌 옥사이드를 부가한 소듐 라우레스 설페이트 음이온 계면활성제의 계면 특성에 관한 연구)

  • In this study, ASCO SLES-430 surfactant was synthesized by adducting 3 moles of ethylene oxide and 1 mole of propylene oxide to lauryl alcohol followed by a sulfation process, and the structure of the synthesized ASCO SLES-430 was elucidated by performing FT-IR, 1H-NMR and 13C-NMR analyses. Interfacial properties such as critical micelle concentration, static surface tension, emulsification index, and contact angle were measured, and environmental compatibility indices such as oral toxicity and skin irritation were also estimated for ASCO SLES-430. Both results were compared with ASCO SLES-226 and ASCO SLES-328 SLES surfactants possessing 2 moles and 3 moles of ethylene oxide, respectively. In particular, both foaming ability and foam stability were evaluated for ASCO SLES-430 and compared with ASCO SLES-226 and ASCO SLES-328, which have been widely used in detergent products, in order to test the potential applicability of ASCO SLES-430 in detergent product formulation for a small capacity built-in washing machine.

An Analysis of Research Productivity by Fields in Science and Engineering (이공계 분야별 연구생산성 분석)

  • This study will show the determinants of research productivity by fields in science and engineering. However, we present the differences between fields by personal attributes, research resources, and research productivities. The data includes 1,383 researchers who participated in the BK21 PLUS program during 2010-2012. The fields are physics, chemistry, biology, mechanics, electricity and electronics and chemical engineering. As for research productivity, 3 indices are used such as the number of papers publicized, patents and combination of papers and patents. As for explanation factors, two kinds of variables are used. The personal factors include sex, age, academic rank, location of affiliation, and country of PhD acquisition, and the resource factors are the number of graduate students, 3 types of research funds such as government fund, industrial fund and overseas fund. This study is unique in several aspects; Dealing with 3 productivity indices, and using massive official data, 6 different fields, and determinants of research productivity. The results are as follows; 1) there is a big difference in determinants by fields. 2) No variables affect the research productivity of all the fields at the same time. 3) In science, the number of determinants are quite low than engineering. 4) The ratio between papers and patents are different by fields. 5) The correlations between paper and patent by fields are different; no relationship in the field of physics and chemistry and positive relationship in the other 4 fields.

Characterization and Performance of MEA for Direct Methanol Fuel Cell Prepared with PFA Grafted Polystyrene Membranes via Radiation-Grafting Method (방사선 그라프트 PFA-폴리스티렌 멤브레인으로 제조한 직접 메탄올 연료전지용 MEA의 성능과 특성)

  • In order to develop a novel polymer electrolyte membrane for direct methanol fuel cell (DMFC), styrene monomer was graft-polymerized into poly(tetrafluoroethylene perfluoropropyl vinyl ether) (PFA) film followed by a sulfonation reaction. The graft polymerization was prepared by the $\Upsilon$-ray radiation-grafting method. Subsequently, sulfonation of the radiation-grafted film was carried out in a chlorosulfonic acid/1,2-dichloroethane (2 v/v%) solution. The chemical, physical, electrochemical and morphological properties of the radiation-grafted membranes (PFA-g-PSSA) were characterized by fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The water uptake, ionic conductivity, and methanol permeability of the PFA-g-PSSA membrane were also measured. The cell performances of MEA prepared with the PFA-g-PSSA membranes were evaluated and the cell resistances were measured by an impedance analyzer. The MEA using PFA-g-PSSA membranes showed superior performance for DMFCs in comparison with the commercial Nafion 112 membrane.

  • Causal relationship means what relations the result occurred have with a fact as a reason. In general, a formular that no result exists without reasons is used for the method to confirm existence and inexistence of causal relationship. Problematic causal relationships in Private Law are reparations (Article No. 393 of Private Law) due to debt nonfulfillment and reparation due to tort (Application of Article No. 393 by Article No. 750, and No. 763 of Private Law). The purpose pursued by reparation system in private law is to promote equal burden of damages, and the range of reparation at this time is decided by the range of damage and the range of damage is decided by the principle of causal relationship. That the causal relationship theory fairly causes confusion by treating one problem and the other problem as the same thing, instead of dividing them according to the purpose of protection presented by the law is a reason of the criticism from different views.

Improvement of adhesion strength of Butadiene Rubber using Atmospheric Plasma (대기압 플라즈마를 이용한 부타디엔고무 소재의 접착력 개선)

  • An atmospheric surface modification using plasma treatment method was applied to butadiene rubber to improve its adhesion strength by plate type reactor. In order to investigate the optimum reaction condition of plasma treatment, type of reaction gas(nitrogen, argon, oxygen, air), gas flow rate(30~100 mL/min), treated time(0~30 s) and primer modification method(GMA, 2-HEMA) were examined in a plate type plasma reactor. The results of the surface modification with respect to the treatment procedure was characterized by using SEM and ATR-FTIR. As the gas flow rate and treated time increases the contact angle decreases. The greatest adhesion strength was achieved at optimum condition such as flow rate of 60 mL/min, treated time 5 s and modification primer containing 2-HEMA for air. Due to the atmospheric surface modification using plate plasma method consequently reduced the wettability of butadiene rubber and resulted in the improvement of the adhesion.

  • 분류층 가스화기는 석탄과 산소(공기) 및 수증기가 반응하여 $1200{\sim}1600^{\circ}C$의 고온, 20~60기압의 고압에서 작동되어 합성가스를 생성하며 합성가스에 포함된 입자 및 황화합물 등을 정제설비를 통하여 정제 후 발전 및 화학원료로 사용한다. 석탄가스화 중 석탄에 포함된 대부분의 회분은 용융슬래그 형태로 가스화기 벽면을 따라 흘러 내려 가스화기 하부의 냉각수조에서 급랭되어 배출된다. 이때 용융슬래그의 원활한 배출을 위해서는 일정범위의 점도를 유지하는 것이 필요하다. 슬래그의 점도는 가스화기 온도 및 Ash의 조성에 따라 크게 변하며 가스화기 설계 및 운전 시 매우 중요한 변수이다. 따라서 최적의 설계 및 운전을 위해서는 Ash의 점도예측이 중요하며, 분류층 가스화기내부에서 Ash 점도 예측을 위한 DooVisco 프로그램을 개발하였다. DooVisco는 가스화기 내부에서 슬래그 용융온도 및 온도별 점도, 가스화기 최소 운전온도 및 석회석 투입 효과 분석뿐만 아니라 석탄의 혼합 사용 시의 특성 예측도 가능하도록 개발되었다. DooVisco는 슬래그 주요 4성분인 SiO2, Al2O3, CaO, FeO 성분에 대한 Phase Diagram을 이용하여 1차적으로 슬래그용융온도(Liquidus Temperature)를 예측하고, 주요 4 성분 외에 Na2O, MgO, K2O, TiO2 등을 고려한 Kalmanovich Model을 이용하여 점도를 예측한다. 최종적으로 슬래그 용융온도와 점도를 활용하여 분류층 가스화기 운전가능 온도범위를 예측한다. 개발된 DooVisco를 활용하여 300MW급 실증 IGCC 플랜트에 사용가능성이 있는 석탄을 대상으로 슬래그의 용융온도 및 점도 등을 예측하였으며 최적 운전을 위한 슬form점도 조절용 Flux인 석회석 투입량 등을 평가하였다. 평가 결과 슬래그 용융온도가 $1700^{\circ}C$ 이상으로 석회석 투입이 필요하다고 판단되었다. 약 가스화기 내부 온도를 $1500^{\circ}C$ 정도에서 원활한 운전을 위해서는 석탄 대비 약 10% 내외의 석회석 투입이 필요할 것으로 평가되었다. DooVisco는 분류층 가스화기 설 계시 가스화기 최적 운전 온도 설정 및 Flux 투입필요성, 종류, 투입량 선정에 활용될 수 있을 뿐만 아니라 플랜트 운전시 석탄의 탄종 적합성 등을 판단하는데 활용될 수 있을 것이라 판단된다.

Characteristics of Organic NLO Materials in Silica Matrix Prepared by Sol-gel Process (졸-겔공정에 의해 실리카 구조체에 도입된 유기 NLO 물질의 특성)

  • Organic nonlinear optical materials such as MNA(2-Methyl-4-nitro-aniline), Carbazole 1(5-Nitro-9-hydroxyethyl Carbazole), Carbazole 2(5-Nitro-9-ethyl Carbazole) and DR 1(Disperse Red 1) were incorporated into silica matrix to form a composite thin films. The thermal stability and degree of degradation were compared to these organic-inorganic composite film. Among those films, Carbazole 1 and DR 1 which have terminal -OH group showed enhanced stability for thermal degradation. The effect of polarization and degree of relaxation for the composite thin films incorporated with Carbazole 1 were measured by the absorbance change of UV spectra with time. With polarization treatment of Carbazole 1 incorporated composite film, the intensity of UV absorbance was remarkably reduced. And slow relaxation of Carbazole 1 molecule was suggested from the slightly recovered intensity of UV absorbance after removing the electric field at rooma temperature.
