  • This study is the performance test of the vitiated air heater with high temperature and high pressure. The vitiated air heater to provide hot air about 2000 K was designed, and the performance test is carrying out. The designed vitiated air heater uses methane, oxygen, and mixing air by working gases, and uses mixing air for cooling of the bottom of a mixing head. By this reason, the vitiated ar heater has to be designed with heat-resistance from hot frame, and to be tested for its proof. In this paper the performance of he vitiated air heater is analyzed to some test results.

  • The test facility for confirming performance of a propulsion system is essential infra-structure to develop launch vehicle system. Using the PSTC, cold flow and combustion tests are performed to the propulsion system of individual stage in launcher. Moreover the ground test for the total launching process is conducted. In order to construct the PSTC, we not only have surveyed technology of internal and external countries, but also actively use the case in terms of the system. The test facility consists of feeding system, test stand, control and measurement, and flame deflector.

Comparative Study on the Effect of Turbulence Models for the Numerical Analysis on Exhaust Plume of Oxidizer-Rich Preburner (산화제과잉 예연소기 배기플룸 수치해석에서의 난류모델에 따른 효과 비교연구)

  • The oxidizer-rich preburner's combustion tests were fulfilled in the development process of staged combustion cycle rocket engines. The exhaust plume from an oxidizer-rich preburner is relatively transparent because combustion takes place in oxidizer rich state. During hot fire tests a still and infrared images were captured to visualize the plume structure, temperature distribution and so on. In addition, the exhaust plume was numerically investigated to figure out the detailed characteristics. The combustion was not considered for the numerical modeling, but the mixing of exhaust plume with circumstantial air was modeled by species transport model with several turbulence models. The inner structure of plume was configured out by the comparison of numerical results with experimental results, and the validity of applied numerical models was verified.

Study on the Fire Behavior of Spring Bed Mattress with and Without a Cooling Frame (냉각프레임 설치 유무에 따른 스프링 침대 매트리스의 화재성상에 관한 연구)

  • To improve the fire safety of spring bed mattress, a cooling frame including cooling material (water) was made and a cooling frame was installed under the bed mattress or between the bed mattress and bed mattress base; fire tests (real scale) were conducted with or without a cooling frame. Similar fire behavior was observed at the beginning of the test (approximately 3 minutes). Subsequently, rapid fire growth in the mattress without a cooling frame, but with a cooling frame, the decline progressed without growth. The flame spread on the top surface of the bed mattress was similar in the semicircular direction, and the average flame speed velocity was analyzed at approximately 0.005 m/s. The maximum flame height was found to be approximately 2.7 m without a cooling frame, and approximately 1.8 m with a cooling frame installed. In addition, the maximum heat release rate was measured to be approximately 740 kW without a cooling frame, and approximately 400 kW with a cooling frame installed. As a result, the flame height and heat release rate were reduced when the bed mattress was fired through the installed cooling frame.

The Flame and Distributed Temperature Restraint Properties of Fire Venetian Blind Louver in Buildings (차양식 방화루버의 화염 및 온도 전파 억제 특성)

  • The purpose of this study is to improve the fire prevention performance using the fire venetian blind louver subjected to burning by fire flame. The investigation is based on testing 2 full scale specimens, which is $3m{\times}3m$ module, $850mm{\times}1,500mm$ open, and $900mm{\times}900mm{\times}175mm$ venetian blind louver. Two louver thickness (1.5 and 2.0mm) were adopted. The specimens were exposed to fire flame temperature levels of ISO834 at the lower surface of the fire venetian blind louver specimens with exposure duration of one hour in Korea Institute of Construction Technology (KICT). It was found from the test results that the values of distributed temperature, decreased for all specimens for protecting to fire flame by venetian blind louver. The results of tests were a good fire prevention performance between in initial to 6 mins. At 60 minutes around ISO 834 fire loading, the percentages of distributed temperature in 500mm and 800mm height ranged between 11 and 10% respectively, regardless of louver thickness. This study, therefore, will improve the fire venetian blind louver for fire protection and prevention performance.

  • 우리나라 송전선로의 위치는 대부분 산악지형에 포설되어 있어 산불 발생으로 인한 피해에 취약한 구조이다. 주로 산불에 의한 화염, 열, 연무 등 복합적인 환경 요인이 송전선로에 영향을 미치게 되며, 이로 인해 송전 선로를 구성하는 전선 및 애자를 포함한 금구류 등이 본래의 기능을 상실하게 되어 전력 공급에 문제가 발생하게 된다. 또한 산불 진화에 사용하는 물과 방재용 약재에 의해 발생하는 부가적인 송전 선로의 특성 변화 역시 잠재적인 사고 발생 요인으로 볼 수 있다. 본 논문은 이러한 산불 발생시 송전선로에 미치는 영향 및 특성 연구를 위해 산불의 특성을 살펴보고 특성을 모의하여 시험 할 수 있는 산불 모의 실증 시험 설비를 구축에 대해 설명한다.

  • The test apparatus that can be protected from the high-temperature combustion flame and coolant injection was successfully manufactured. In this study, the coolant-injection module had a controllable consistent pressure, and the entire combustion module was protected using a nonflammable composite liner. Every flange was designed in accordance with the DIN standard, and the entire body of the module was designed in accordance with the EN 13445 code. Additionally, the hydraulic pressure test was performed in accordance with the 2014/68/EU directive and EN 13445 standard. Finally, after manufacturing, performance tests (such as pressure tests) were conducted to verify the reliability and safety.

  • In general the data such as thrust, pressure, temperature and combustion time are measured in developing the propulsion system of solid rocket motor through static firing test. But in the case of personal surface to air missile there are required a severe safety specifications in order to eliminate gunner hazard from the exhaust plume of motors. The safety requirements lead to the design of separation device and safety igniter device. The dynamic firing test for the designed two devices should be conducted under the flight environmental conditions to verify the requirements compliance. In this study the technique for dynamic firing test of propulsion system of personal surface to air missile is proposed and the method to design the dynamic test bench is also studied.

  • This paper deals with a waterproof and mechanical feature of concrete using an inorganic self waterproof agent. The waterproof agents having been used in our country were a membrane agent, penetration agent and an organic waterproof agent. However, these agents have a lot of problems such as losing the effect of waterproof in the environment of lots of water, the difficulty of dispersion. For the clear of problems of these water -proof agents, we used the inorganic waterproof agent. This agent was made from inorganic fluosilicate. Generally, a waterproof agent has been used only for the waterproof effect. In this paper, however through the some tests of concrete using the inorganic self waterproof agent, we recognized that the concrete using the agent is more excellent in some peculiar properties than general concrete's properties. In this paper, we performed compressive strength, permeability, pore volume test, etc. As a result, the concrete of using the agent is more excellent in economy, waterproof, compressive strength.

  • The paper presents the results of the experimental study about flow discharge characteristics of double swirl coaxial injectors for a liquid rocket engine. Flow discharge characteristics of injectors become one of critical design issues for LRE combustion devices. Tap water and liquid oxygen/kerosene were used for ambient and hot firing tests, respectively. A combustion discharge coefficient varies depending on a mixture ratio and a recess ratio, and magnitudes of the variations are different with respect to injector shapes and operating conditions. The variation of a combustion discharge coefficient with a LOx injector is considered to result from flame structure changes due to physical property changes.
