  • This research enables the user to have access to the desired service which is on the multi-platform display device by establishment customized Digital Signage System using the SaaS method. This system is significantly favorable due to the following points: the expandibility and portability is outstanding compared with the existing signage system, establishment expenses may be reduced because the platform can be established in various configurations independently, maintenance and management, and the strong point of the system is that costs can be reduced due to the fact that the electric power can be controlled according to environmental situations. Various researches should be conducted simultaneously such as researches on automatic pattern recognition technologies which recognizes the sex, age, location among other data of the user and various methods of image processing for the production of contents to elaborate lively contents to provide diverse experience and enjoyable configurations for the future generation.

  • Computer users frequently request large scale multimedia data such as images. voice, video rather than conventional formal data. Data in virtual fossil museum are represented as points, shape, location in multidimensional space and interrelation with other spatial object. Informations in virtual fossil museum should be maintained to manipulate spatial object and non-spatial object. In this report we propose virtual fossil museum which is consisted of two parts. In the first step, basic system is implemented in internet for non-specialist such as primary students. This system is implemented based on visual multimedia information system so that non-specialist about computer can access easily. In the second step, expert system is designed which allows computer users can store, magnify, reduce, and retrieve the spatial data. This expert system uses animation, spatial query and VRML.

Block-based Contrast Enhancement Algorithm for X-ray Images (X-ray 영상을 위한 블록 기반 대비 개선 기법)

  • If typical contrast enhancement algorithms for natural images are applied to X-ray images, they may cause artifacts such as overshooting or produce unnatural visual quality because they do not consider inherent characteristics of X-ray images. In order to overcome such problems, we propose a locally adaptive block-based contrast enhancement algorithm for X-ray images. After we derive a weighted cumulative distribution function for each block, we apply it to each block for contrast enhancement. Then, we obtain images that are removed from block effect by adopting block-based overlapping. In post-processing, we obtain the final image by emphasizing high frequency components. Experimental results show that the proposed block-based contrast enhancement algorithm provides at maximum 5-times higher visual quality than the exiting algorithm in terms of quantitative contrast metric.

  • Informations of multimedia centering in the images, are combined acoustic and letter, etc. Although the network advances and the capacity of the storage media extends, these huge informations will not be able to accommodate. From meaning which is like this, International standards for the compression and a multiplexing of image, acoustic and voice H261 where admits standard, JPEG, JBIG, MPEG-l, MPEG-2, MPEG-4 and H263, G series etc, are core techniques of multimedia. At initial step of the base technique which creates the base of like this multimedia service time, we developed the real-time MPEG-4 transmission systems to provides real-time MPEG-4 multimedia services. This system means becomes the base technique which hereafter is developed and is applied various system. This system Will be able to apply from a videoconference, a building protection system and a VOD video system to use the Internet. And, They, the image sensing, embedded linux, and MPEG4 software, will become sourceful technique to develop the different system.

  • Injection molding is the most widely used process for the industrial forming of plastic articles. During an injection molding process of composites, the fiber-matrix separation and fiber orientation are caused by the flow of molten polymer/fiber mixture. As a result, the product tends to be nonhomogeneous and anisotropic. Hence, it is very important to clarify the relations between separation·orientation and infection molding conditions. So far, there is no research on the measurement of fiber orientation using image processing. In this study, the effects of fiber content ratio and molding condition on the fiber orientation-angle distributions are studied experimentally. Using the image processing method, the fiber orientation distribution of welding parts in injection-molded products is assessed. And the effects of fiber content and injection mold shapes on the fiber orientation in case of fiber reinforced polymeric composites are studied. experimentally.

  • In this paper, we design a entorpy encoder of HDTV/DTV encoder blocks on the basis of MPEG-II. The designed entropy encoder outputs its bit stream at 9Mbps bit rate inserting zero-stepping block to protect the depletion of buffer in case that the generated bit stream is stored in buffer and uses not only PROM bit combinational circuit to solve the problem of critical path, and packer block, one of submerge, is designed to packing into 24 bit unit using barrel shifter, and it is constructed to blocks of header information encoder, input information delay, submerge, and buffer control. Designed circuits is verified by VHDL function simulation, as a result of performing P&R with Gate compiler that apply $0.8{\mu}m$ Gate Array specification, pin and gate number of total circuits has been tested to each 235 and about 120,000.

  • In this study, locality of scleroderma was detected. Diagnostic method is difficult for scleroderma (skin curing; Scleroderma), and it is done by comparing the images of the normal subjects to the scleroderma patients, after performing monochrome processing. The saturation, brightness, and contrast are adjusted, and they were converted by using the process of Well Filter. As a result, the images were able to be used to clearly distinguish the symptoms of scleroderma. In addition, in a video of a healthy person, the line of sight of the observation given the image of scleroderma patients above sea level of height as $0^{\circ}$ is to implement the closing process to the rear Well Filter even only in so that the horizontal plane, and out at intervals of graph the amplitude difference of the video have I asked. The diagnostic criteria were determined for the healthy subjects and the scleroderma patients.

  • Recently many robot manipulators are used for various areas of industriesand factories. It has been frequently observed that the robot manipulator fails to complete the function when the object changes its original position, Due to the unexpected impacts and vibrations the center and direction of the object would be shifted in many real application. In this study, a visual sensing algorithm for the robot manipulator is proposed. The algorithm consists of two parts : Detection of the object migration and adjustments of the orobot manipulators Tool Coordinate System. The image filtering technique with visual sensor is applied for the first part of the algorithm. The change of illumination intensity indicates the object migration. Once the object migration is detected, the second part of the algorithm calculates the current position of the object. Then it adjusts the robot manipulators Tool Coordinate System. The robot manipulator and the Visual sensor communicate each other using interrupt technique via proposed algorithm. It has been observed that the proposed algorithm reduces the malfunction of a robot manipulator significantly. Thus it can provide better line balance-up of the manufacturing processes and prevent industrial accidents efficiently.

  • Skin detection research is important role in the 3G of mobile phone for video telephony and security system by using face recognition. We propose skin detection algorithm as preprocessing to the face recognition, and use YCbCr color space. In existing skin detection algorithm using CbCr, skin colors that is brightened by camera flash or sunlight at outdoor in images doesn't acknowledged the skin region. In order to detect skin region accuracy into any circumstance, this paper proposes 3-channel skin detection algorithm.

Antimicrobial Activities of Opuntia ficus-indica var. saboten Makino Methanol Extract (손바닥선인장 줄기 methanol 추출물의 항균활성)

  • The Opuntia ficus-indica var. saboten Makino (Cactus) is a tropical or subtropical plant, which is cultivated or grows naturally in Jeju island. It has been widely used as folk medicine for burned wound, edema and indigestion. In addition, its extract has been claimed to have several biological activities including anti-inflammation in oriental medicine. In this study, we examined the antimicrobial activities of the methanol extract of Opuntia ficus-indica var. saboten Makino. The extract showed a broad spectrum of antimicrobial activity against pathogenic bacteria, including antibiotics resistant bacteria (MRSA, R-P. aeruginosa, VRE) and Propionibacterium acnes, yeast, and fungi. The extract retained the activity after heat treatment for 15 min at $100^{\circ}C$ and $121^{\circ}C$ and after extended storage, up to 10 weeks storage period at $4^{\circ}C$ and $25^{\circ}C$, also stably retained its activity. It showed a better inhibitoring effect to the growth of E. coli than sodium benzoate did it at the same concentration. Addition of various salts or metal ions did not affect on its antimicrobial activity. Therefore, the antimicrobial characteristics of the extract can be applicable as a natural preservative and an antimicrobial agent for bacterial disease.
