  • In this work, we present an iris pattern recognition method as a biometrically based technology for personal identification and authentication For this, we propose a new algorithm for extracting an unique feature from the iris of the human eye and representing this feature using the discrete Walsh-Hadamard transform. From the computational simplicity of the adopted transform, this can perform the personal identification and authentication in a fast manner to accomplish the information security.

Exploration of Economic Valuation Model for the UX Design using the Contingent Valuation Method - Focusing on the Screen Unlock Interfaces (조건부 가치측정법을 이용한 사용자 경험 디자인 가치평가 모델의 탐색 잠금해제 인터페이스를 중심으로)

  • This study aimed to assess the economic value of the UX design and applied contingent valuation method (CVM) to the three smartphone screen unlock interface types: touch, fingerprint, and iris recognition. The contingent valuation method was chosen from various economic valuation approaches because the interface components such as the screen unlock are important user experience values but non-market goods which are not traded independently. Using the double-bounded dichotomous choice approach of the contingent valuation method, the survey results of the logit model showed that the economic value of touch unlock interface was 529 won, fingerprint was 4,214 won, and iris recognition was 1,316 won. That is, the fingerprint interface had the highest economic value, followed by iris recognition and touch interface. The main contribution of this research is that we examined a method for economic valuation of the UX design and generated systematic and credible results.

  • This paper presents an improved HOLP neural network that adds 25 average values to a typical HOLP neural network using 25 feature vector values as input values by applying high-order local autocorrelation function, which is excellent for extracting immutable feature values of iris images. Compared with deep learning structures with different types, we compared the recognition rate of iris recognition using Back-Propagation neural network, which shows excellent performance in voice and image field, and synthetic product neural network that integrates feature extractor and classifier.

  • 본 논문의 목적은 여러 생리학적 특징중 높은 신뢰성을 갖는 것으로 알려진 홍채로부터 고유한 특징을 추출하고, 인식/검증하는 알고리즘을 개발하는데 있다. 홍채패턴은 크게 주름과 주름내부의 패턴부분으로 구성되며 그 고유한 패턴은 주로 내부에 집중되어 있다. 본 논문에서는 홍채의 주름윤곽과 주름내부의 패턴 특징의 추출을 위해, 동공중심을 기준으로 반지름길이에 따라 홍채영역을 분리하여 ID신호를 추출하여 특징으로 사용하였으며, 전처리부에서는 thresholding 방법에 의해 안구로부터 홍채영상을 획득하고, 획득된 반지름별 ID 홍채특징으로부터 매칭시험을 수행하였다. 제안된 방법은 주름윤곽으로부터 ID 특징신호를 사용한 방법에서 무시한 홍채내부 패턴을 고려하였으며, 홍채 전체영역에 대해 2D 웨이블렛을 이용한 홍채특징추출 방법과 비교시보다 신속한 특징추출이 가능하다.

  • In this paper, we introduce the implementation of the security system using iris recognition. This system acquires images with infrared camera and extracts the 2D code from a infrared image which uses scale-space filtering and concavity. We examine the system by (i) extract 2D code and (ii) compare the code that stored on the server (iii) measure FAR and FRR using pattern matching. Experiment results show that the proposed method is very suitable.

  • 본 논문은 웨이블릿 필터를 이용하여 홍채영상의 에지를 검출하고 패턴매칭 기법을 적용하여 홍채의 결함조직에 대한 위치를 추정하는 연구이다. 필터는 웨이블릿 변환을 이용한 2차원 주파수 영역의 고역통과 필터를 사용하여 홍채영상의 에지를 검출하고, 이를 표준진단패턴과 오버랩 매칭으로 결함조직을 검출한다. 실험결과 처리속도가 기존의 에지검출기법에 비해 처리속도향상과 에지검출영상의 PSNR 증가에 따라 오버랩 패턴매칭기법에 의한 인식률에서 92%로 홍채결함조직을 자동 진단시스템에 응용 가능하다.

  • The personal identification based on the biometrics has emerged as one of the new trend. This study attempted to explore and examine the user recognition in the use of the personal identification based on the biometrics in the respect of self-efficacy, trustiness, security, and safety alongside the effect of the recognition on the future use intention through survey. The result of this study demonstrated the effect on the use intention of the perceived trustiness and ease of the fingerprint identification, perceived ease of the iris identification and the perceived trustiness of the vein identification. The result of this study is expected to suggest direction on the application of the biometrics considering user recognition.

  • 사회구조가 복잡해질수록 보안(Security)의 확보는 점차 중요한 사회문제로 대두되고 있다. 보안의 문제에서 가장 중요한 것이 각 개인의 본인 여부를 정확하고 신속하게 판별할 수 있는 자동화된 인증(Authentication) 기술의 개발 여부라고 할 수 있다. 이를 위해 사용되는 개인식별은 신체의 일부를 이용한 지문인식, 두개골함성, 장문인식, 족적인식, 입술인식, 홍채인식, 골격인식 등 불변하는 신체의 특징을 이용하는 연구가 주도적이었다. 본 연구에서는 개인식별에 관한 총체적인 영상시스템을 위한 영상처리 자료를 정리한다.

A Novel Circle Detection Algorithm for Iris Segmentation (홍채 영역 분할을 위한 새로운 원 검출 알고리즘)

  • There is a variety of researches about recognition system using biometric data these days. In this study, we propose a new algorithm, uses simultaneous equation that made of the edge of objects, to segment an iris region without threshold values from an anterior eye image. The algorithm attempts to find a center area through calculated outskirts information of an iris, and decides the area where the most points are accumulated. To verify the proposed algorithm, we conducted comparative experiments to Hough transform and Daugman's method, based on 50 images anterior eye images. It was found that proposed algorithm is 5 and 75 times faster than on each algorithm, and showed high accuracy of detecting a center point (95.36%) more than Hough transform (92.43%). In foreseeable future, this study is expected to useful application in diverse department of human's life, such as, identification system using an iris, diagnosis a disease using an anterior image.

Extraction of Iris Codes for Personal Identification Using an Iris Image (홍채를 이용한 생체인식 코드 추출)

  • In this paper, we introduce a new technology to extract the unique features from an iris image, which uses scale-space filtering. Resulting iris code can be used to develop a system for rapid and automatic human identification with high reliability and confidence levels. First, an iris part is separated from the whole image and the radius and center of the iris are evaluated. Next, the regions that have a high possibility of being noise are discriminated and the features presented in the highly detailed pattern are then extracted. In order to conserve the original signal while minimizing the effect of noise, scale-space filtering is applied. Experiments are performed using a set of 272 iris images taken from 18 persons. Test results show that the iris feature patterns of different persons are clearly discriminated from those of the same person.
