Analysis of Temperature dependent Thermal Expansion Behavior of $\textrm{SiC}_\textrm{p}/\textrm{Al}_2\textrm{O}_{3f}/\textrm{Al}$ Composites ($\textrm{SiC}_\textrm{p}/\textrm{Al}_2\textrm{O}_{3f}/\textrm{Al}$ 복합재료의 온도에 따른 열팽창 특성 해석)

  • This study developed SiC$_{p}$/A1$_2$O$_3$$_{f}$/Al composites for electronic packaging to which reinforcements were added with the volume fractions of 49%, 56% and 63% by the squeeze casting method. 0.8 wt. % of the inorganic binder as well as the A1$_2$O$_3$ fiber and SiC Particles with the volume fraction of 1:10 were added to the composites, which were produced in the newly designed mold. For the produced SiC/Al composites, the CTEs (coefficients of thermal expansion) were measured from 30 to 300 and compared with the FEM numerical simulation to analyze the temperature dependent properties. The experiment showed the CTEs of SiC$_{p}$/A1$_2$O$_3$$_{f}$/Al composites that were intermediate values of those of Rule of Mixture and Turner's Model. The CTEs were close to Turner's Model in the room temperature and approached the Rule of Mixture as the temperature increases. These properties analyzed from the difference of the average stress acting between the matrix and the reinforcements proposed in this study.

A Study on The Development and Evaluation of The Pine Needle Flavor oil (솔잎 향미유의 제조와 기호성에 관한 연구)

  • In this study, development of the pine needle flavor oils and their application to foods, especially to traditional Korean foods, were investigated. The pine needle flavor oils were prepared by the autoclaving method, and their volatile flavor components(VFCs) were determined by capillary gas chromatographic method The major flavor components of the pine noddle flavor oil were a -pinene 31.1%, pentane 9.8%, tricyclene 7.5%, camphene 6.8%, hexanal 6.2%, propane 6.0%, ${\beta}$-pinene 5.6%, limonene 3.9%. The acceptability of the pine needle flavor oils, sensory evaluation including a preference test and quantitative descriptive analysis(QDA), of the pine needle flavor oil, a sesame oil, and a blended oil (pine needle flavor oil : sesame oil 50 : 50 v/v) was carried out. The blended oil and sesame oil showed much higher preference scores than the pine needle flavor oil, and blended oil was almost as acceptable as sesame oil(P < 0.05). The results seem to indicate that blended oil can be used as a unique substitution for sesame oil in some foods, especially in some traditional Koran food.

Understanding Interfacial Charge Transfer Nonlinearly Boosted by Localized States Coupling in Organic Transistors (Carbon Nano Tube 및 산화그래핀을 첨가한 폴리우레아 복합재 제조 및 그 화학적 특성 분석)

  • Polyurea has been investigated as a polymer matrix for composite materials because of its high mechanical strength. Although polyurea has a similar chemical structure to polyurethane, it has much higher strength and durability. In this study, the fabrication of polyurea composites reinforced with carbon nanotube (CNT) and graphene oxide (GO) is demonstrated to enhance the tensile strength of the glass fibers composite. Using FTIR and Raman spectroscopies, the chemical structures of polyurea, CNT, and GO are investigated. As a result, spectroscopy analysis reveals that the chemical structure of CNT, GO, and polyurea is maintained during the fabrication of the composite structure. Scanning electron microscopy reveals the uniform distribution of CNT and GO across the polyurea matrix. The reinforcement of 1 wt% CNT in polyurea enhances the tensile strength of CNT/polyurea composites. In contrast, the reinforcement of GO in polyurea induces the degradation of the tensile strength of GO/polyurea composites.

The Effect of Dietary Fiber Levels on the Size of Brolier′s Gut and Chromium Turnover Time in Each Segment (사료내 섬유소 수준이 브로일러의 소화기 발달과 장 내용물의 통과 시간에 미치는 영향)

  • Three-week-old, broiler-type, mixed sex chicks were divided into replicate groups of 10 birds each and fed for 5 weeks. The wheat bran was defatted and added at 0, 10 and 20% levels. A fourth group received the 20% wheat bran plus a cellulase enzyme added at the level of 0.008%. After a five-week experimental period without a marker a 24-pen battery on the four diets were supplemented with 1% chromic oxide and fed 100g daily. After a 2-day preliminary period, feces were collected three times daily from each diet group for two days at 2, 4 or 8 hours after feeding. At the end of 4 days, within each diet group, birds were randomly selected for slaughter at 2, 4 or 8 hours after feeding and the entire gastrointestinal tract was removed and ligated to form five compartments. The lengths of each segment were measured after straightening, and the gizzard was emptied and weighed. The summarized data showed that the group fed on the high-energy basal diet had the lowest gizzard weight (P〈0.05). Chromium turnover time (minutes) in the each segment and entire GI tract of chicks was not influenced by the high fiber diet or cellulase.

Effects of Supplementation of Mixed Methanogens and Rumen Cellulolytic Bacteria on Biochemical Methane Potential with Pig Slurry (양돈슬러리를 이용한 혐기소화에서 미생물 첨가가 메탄발생에 미치는 영향)

  • The study investigated the biochemical methane potential (BMP) assay of pig slurry supplemented with mixed methanogens and cellulolytic bacteria to improve anaerobic digestion for methane production. For the BMP assay, 7 different microbial supplementation groups consisted of the cultures of mixed methanogens (M), Fibrobacter succinogenes (FS), Ruminococcus flavefaciensn (RF), R. albus (RA), RA+FS, M+RA+FS, and control. The cultures were added in the batch reactors with the increasing dose levels of 1% (0.5 mL), 3% (1.5 mL) and 5% (2.5 mL). Incubation for the BMP assay was carried out for 60 days at $38^{\circ}C$ using anaerobic digestate obtained from an anaerobic digester with pig slurry as inoculum. In results, 5% RF and RA+FS increased total biogas up to 8.1 and 8.4%, respectively, compared with that of control (p<0.05). All 5% microbial culture supplements significantly increased methane production up to 12.1~17.9% compared with that of control (p<0.05). Total solid (TS) and volatile solid (VS) digestion efficiencies showed no relationship to the increased supplementation levels of microbial cultures. After incubation, pH values in all treatment groups ranged between 7.527 and 7.657 indicating that methanogensis was not inhibited during the incubation. In conclusion, the results indicated that both hydrolysis and methanogenesis stages for methane production in anaerobic batch reactors were influenced by the supplemented microorganisms due to the chemical characteristics of pig slurry, but only the 5% supplementation level of all microbial culture supplements used in the experiment affected methane production.

Quality Characteristics of Dolsan Leaf Mustard Kimchi Added with Seasoning of Sea tangle and Lentinus edodes (다시마와 표고버섯 혼합조미농축액 첨가에 따른 돌산갓김치의 품질특성)

  • To increase the marketability of Dolsan leaf mustard Kimchi, seasonings were prepared by sea tangle and Lentinus edodes. Gat Kimchi A (GK-A) and Gat Kimchi B (GK-B) were prepared by addition of complex seasoning with Sea tangle (CSS), complex seasoning with Lentinus edodes (CSL), respectively and evaluated the quality characteristics. GK-A contained high minerals and dietary fiber and showed the effect of delaying pH-lowering and acidity-rising. There were no significant differences in salinity test after 70 days. Reducing sugar of test groups was higher than control. During the fermentation, Leuconostoc sp. was grown in GK-A and GK-B than control. Growth of control's Lactobacillus sp. increased 20 days after. Up to 30 days, lightness of control was high. Yellowness were increased browning potential in GK-B, 20 days after. From the initial to 10 days, Hardness of GK-A showed higher than the others. glutamic acid and aspartic acid content of GK-A was higher significantly than the others in the entire fermentation period (p<0.05). At 0, 10, 30 days, sweet-tasty amino acids of GK-A showed a significantly higher level than the others (p<0.05). From 10 days to 40 days of fermentation, the sensory evaluation of GK-A is better than the other groups. Comprehensively reviewed the above results, the conclusion is as follows: CSS made with sea tangle as a main ingredient. GK-A by seasoning the CSS to 90 g GK-A is expected as a new Dolsan leaf mustard products that can provide flavor and nutrition to the consumer at the same time.

Effect of the Particle Size and Unburned Carbon Content on the Separation Efficiency of Fly ash in the Countercurrent Column Flotation (向流컬럼浮選機에서 石炭灰의 크기 및 未燃炭素 含量이 分離特性에 미치는 영향)

  • Fly ash was composed of the unburned carbon and mineral particles. The former was able to attach on the bubbles, while the latter was not. Therefore, it was possible to separate the unburned carbon and the mineral from fly ash using the froth flotation process. This study was carried out to evaluate the separation efficiency as a function of the ny ash particle properties in the column flotation. Separation efficiency was analyzed for various size fraction of -38 fm,38~125 fm and 1125 W, and for various fly ash samples containing 7, 11, and 20 wt% unburned carbon. For the size fractions of -38 fm containing 7 wt% unburned carbon, separation efficiency was 86ft, whereas separation efficiency was found to be 74% for the size fraction of +125$\mu\textrm{m}$ containing 20 wt% unburned carbon. The results indicated that separation efficiency increased with the decrease in the particle size and the unburned carbon content of the fly ash.

Regeneration of Intervertebral Disc Using Gellan Sponge Loading PLGA Microspheres (PLGA 미립구가 함유된 젤란검 스폰지를 이용한 추간판 조직 재생)

  • Gellan gum as a natural polysaccharide has good heat resistance, acid resistance and enzymes resistance. However, one of the drawbacks of gellan gum might be the lower mechanical strength. In this work, gellan gum scaffolds were mixed with poly(lactic-co-glycolic acid) (PLGA) microsphere in order to improve mechanical properties. The gellan gum scaffolds with various contents of PLGA microsphere were prepared for the regeneration of disc tissues. To evaluate the mechanical strength of hybrid structure of gellan gum and PLGA microsphere, compression strength of the fabricated scaffolds was measured. MTT analysis, SEM observation, histological evaluation and RT-PCR were performed to confirm the effect on the cell growth and extracellular matrix secretion. As a result, it showed the best cell proliferation and extracellular matrix secretion in gellan gum sponge containing 50% PLGA microspheres. In conclusion, this study confirmed that the hybrid structure of gellan gum and PLGA microspheres was found suitable in regeneration of the intervertebral disc.

A Study on the Fundamental Mechanical Properties of Hydrophobic Cementeous Mortar using Silane Admixtures (실란계 혼화제를 활용한 소수성 시멘트 모르타르의 기초물성 연구)

  • In this study, emulsion type hydrophobic admixture was prepared by mixing polyvinyl alcohol surfactant, polymethyl hydro-siloxane and meta kaolin, and the compressive strength and mechanical properties such as permeability and contact angle test of the mortar were evaluated. The developed hydrophobic admixture showed no decrease in strength and the mortar specimen with magnesium oxide developed the early strength. In the case of permeability, total seepage was significantly decreased when the hydrophobic admixture was directly mixed with the mortar, but the effect of meta kaolin contained in hydrophobic admixture was not significant. The surface of specimens coated with hydrophobic admixture shows that the contact angle on the surface was highly increased compared with reference mortar specimen. Further researches to obtain the optimum mix proportion of the PVA fiber, nano-silica and meta kaolin for producing the super-hydrophobic surface are required.

Study on Design and Performance of Microwave Absorbers of Carbon Nanotube Composite Laminates (탄소나노튜브 복합재 적층판을 활용한 전파흡수체의 설계 및 성능에 대한 연구)

  • In this paper, we present an optimization method for the single Dallenbach-layer type microwave absorbers composed of E-glass fabric/epoxy composite laminates. The composite prepreg containing carbon nanotubes (CNT) was used to control the electrical property of the composites laminates. The design technology using the genetic algorithm was used to get the optimal thicknesses of the laminates and the filler contents at various center frequencies, for which the numerical model of the complex permittivity of the composite laminate was incorporated. In the optimal design results, the content of CNT increased in proportion to the center frequency, but, on the contrary, the thickness of the microwave absorbers decreased. The permittivity and reflection loss are measured using vector network analyzer and 7 mm coaxial airline. The influence of the mismatches in between measurement and prediction of the thickness and the complex permittivity caused the shift of the center frequency, blunting of the peak at the center frequency and the reduction of the absorbing bandwidth.
