Realistic Seeing Through Method and Device Through Adaptive Registration between Building Space and Telepresence Indoor Environment

  • We propose a realistic seeing through visualization methods in mixed reality environment. When a user wants to see specific location beyond a wall in indoor environment. The proposed system recognizes and registers the selected area using environment modelling and feature-based tracking. Then the selected area is diminished and the specific location is visualized in real-time. With the proposed seeing through methods, a user can understand spatial relationship of the building and can easily find the target location. We conducted a user study comparing the seeing through method to conventional indoor navigation service in order to investigate the potential of the proposed seeing through method. The proposed seeing through method was evaluated in navigation time in comparison with conventional approach. The proposed method enable users to navigate target locations 30% faster than the conventional approach.

  • Space planning is one of the popular applications of VR technology including interior design, architecture design, and factory layout. In order to provide easier methods to accommodate physical objects into virtual space planning task, we suggest applying mixed reality (MR) interface. We describe our hardware and software of our MR system designed according to requirements of the application domain. In brief, our system hardware consists of a video see-through display with a touch screen interface, mounted on a mobile platform, and we use screen space 3D manipulations to arrange virtual objects within the MR scene. Investigating the interface with our prototype implementation, we are convinced that our system will help users to design spaces in more easy and effective way.

증강현실 오디오 시스템에서의 객체 오디오 획득 및 렌더링 기술

  • 본 고에서는 증강현실 오디오에 대한 개념을 기술하고, 이를 실현하기 위하여 필요한 요소 기술들을 논한다. 먼저, 실사 오디오의 객체화를 위하여 실사 오디오의 획득 방법 및 이를 객체화하는 방법에 대하여 서술한다. 또한, 실사 오디오와 가상 오디오의 혼합을 위하여 필요한 실사 오디오의 공간 정보 추출 및 가상 오디오의 공간 정보 부여 기술을 설명한다. 그리고 오디오 증강을 위한 객체 오디오의 렌더링 기술에 대해 소개한다. 마지막으로 이러한 요소 기술들을 통합한 증강현실 오디오 시스템의 사례를 기술하는 것으로 본 고를 마무리한다.

  • This paper introduces a Mixed-Reality based Software technology in Smart-Phone Environment. The field of Mixed-Reality in mobile environment is relatively young. but Cause to develop Mobile infra and improvement of mobile device, open-platform mobile OS, the request extended This paper suggest the method for Marker Detection and Marker Tracking method. This method is the one of some kind of a base-technology in Mixed Reality. this method is to effect to location and registration. This paper suggest the method in low CPU computing power. Using a deformable searching area, the method improve computing power. and Using a Cam-shift algorithm, we suggest a calibration free method.

  • Applications about systems integration of sensors and virtual environments have been developed increasingly. Accordingly, there is a need for the ability to represent, control, and manage physical sensors directly in a 3D virtual environment. In this research, a method of representing physical sensor devices in a 3D virtual environment has been defined using mixed and augmented reality, including virtual and real worlds, where sensors and virtual objects co-exist. The research is intended to control and manage various physical sensors through data sharing and interchange between heterogeneous computing environments. In order to achieve this, general sensor types have been classified, and a sensor based 3D scene graph for representing the functions of sensors has been defined. In addition, a sensor data model has been defined using the scene graph. Finally, a sensor 3D viewer has been implemented based on the scene graph and the data model so as to simulate the functions of sensors in indoor and outdoor 3D environments.

  • This study looks at the recently increasing metaverse platform from the perspective of users. Therefore, to understand the metaverse concept as an extended space, we looked at the spatial theory and looked at the paradigm from the perspective of lifestyle and technological change. The case was viewed as 'big tech', and it was shown to be developing in various forms. simulation, Immersense, It is reclassified into Tranconnect and Explorience interfaces to suggest directions for use in various fields.

  • Recently commercial mixed-reality devices have be launched and a variety of mixed-reality content has produced, but narrow field of view, which appear to be hardware technical limitations, are mentioned as an important issue for hindering immersion and limiting the scope of use. We propose a new innovative system that cooperate multiple beam projectors and a number of mixed reality devices. Using this technology, users can maximize immersion and minimize frustration of narrow viewing angles through 3D object rendering on background of large 2D screens. This system, named BtS (Beyond the Sight), is implemented on a client-server basis and includes the ability to calibrate between devices, share spatial coordinate systems, and synchronize real-time renderings as core modules. In this paper, each configuration module is described in detail and the possibility of its performance and application is shown through the introduction of mixed reality content case created using BtS system.

Extended Reality-based Simultaneous Multi Presence for Remote Cooperative Work

  • In this paper, we propose an extended reality-based simultaneous multi presence system in a process of remote cooperative work. The proposed system generates a ring-shaped invisible screen which surrounds a user, and it provides position and manipulation of remote workspace and personal workspace. With the proposed system, the user easily navigates the several workspace for the remote collaboration or he/she selects a specific space for immersion. The proposed system also provides manipulation of personal workspace for the user during the remote cooperative work. We conducted a user study to prove effectiveness of the proposed system. According to the results, the proposed system increased understanding spatial information and usage of time during the remote cooperative work.

  • What difference does the metaverse experience have from the real world? This study investigated the effect of space size and dialogue topic on metaverse user experience. The results from a 3(space size: reality vs. metaverse in an open room vs. metaverse in a closed room) x 2(dialogue topic: positive vs. negative) mixed factorial design experiment (N = 75) revealed statistically significant effects of space on responsiveness, and dialogue topic on closeness. This result implies that designing metaverse for non-immersive devices should include careful considerations regarding the characteristics of the user's real space.

  • 실제적인 객체를 컴퓨터로 재구성하여 실제 공간에서의 경험 대상을 가상 세계의 경험 대상으로 변환하여 실제 세계와의 혼합된 세계를 제공하는 증강현실 실제 세상과 정보 전달에 필요한 증강현실 객체를 혼합하여 제공한다. 이러한 가상객체가 존재하는 환경은 컴퓨터를 이용하여 실제 객체를 인식하여 표현할 뿐만 아니라 제공된 입력 자료에 상응하는 서비스를 제공하게 된다. 본 논문에서는 증강현실 시스템을 지원하기 위한 정보를 체계적으로 표현하고 전달체계에 이용되는 메타데이터를 구성하기 위한 구조적 모델을 제시한다.
