A Study on the Stability and Sludge Energy Efficiency Evaluation of Torrefied Wood Flour Natural Material Based Coagulant (반탄화목분 천연재료 혼합응집제의 안정성 및 슬러지 에너지화 가능성 평가에 관한 연구)

  • Sewage treatment plants are social infrastructure of cities. The sewage distribution rate in Korea is reaching 94% based on the sewage statistics based in the year of 2017. In Korean sewage treatment plants, use of PAC (Poly Aluminum Chloride) accounts for 58%. It contains a large amount of impurities (heavy metal) according to the quality standards, however, there have been insufficient efforts to reinforce the standards or technically improve the quality, which resulted in secondary pollution problems from injecting excessive coagulant. Also, the increase in the use of chemicals is leading to the increases in the annual amount of sewage sludge generated in 2017 and the need to reuse sludge. As such, this study aims to verify the possibility of reusing sludge by evaluating the stability of heavy metals based on the injection of coagulant mixture during water treatment which uses the torrefield wood powder and natural materials, and evaluating the sedimentation and heating value of sewage sludge. As a result of analyzing heavy metals (Cr, Fe, Zn, Cu, Cd, As, Pb, and Ni) from the coagulant mixture and PAC (10%), Cr, Cd, Pb, Ni, and Hg were not detected. As for Zn, while its concentration notified in the quality standards for drinking water is 3 mg/L, only a small amount of 0.007 mg/L was detected in the coagulant mixture. Maximum amounts of over double amounts of Fe, Cu, and As were found with PAC (10%) compared to the coagulant mixture. Also, an analysis of sludge sedimentation found that the coagulant mixture showed a better performance of up to double the speed of the conventional coagulant, PAC (10%). The dry-basis lower heating value of sewage sludge produced by injecting the coagulant mixture was 3,378 kcal/kg, while that of sewage sludge generated due to PAC (10%) was 3,171 kcal/kg; although both coagulants met the requirements to be used as auxiliary fuel at thermal power plants, the coagulant mixture developed in this study could secure heating values 200 kal/kg higher than the counterpart. Therefore, utilization of the coagulant mixture for water treatment rather than PAC (10%) is expected to be more environmentally stable and effective, as it helps generating sludge with better stability against heavy metals, having a faster sludge sedimentation, and higher heating value.

Quality Characteristics of Mixed Makgeolli with Barley and Wheat (보리와 밀 혼합막걸리의 품질특성)

  • This study was conducted to evaluate the quality of barley (Huinchalssalbori) and domestic wheats (Keumkangmil, Baegjoongmil, Jogyeongmil). The pH and total acidity of mixed Makgeolli were 4.04~4.12% and 0.94~1.06%, respectively. The total acidity, sugar and alcohol contents of Makgeolli, but not pH, varied significantly by wheat cultivar (p<0.05). In terms of color values, the L-value of Baegjoongmil, a-value and b-value of Keumkangmil were highest. The reducing sugar contents was approximately 5.65~7.85 mg/mL, and those of Jogyeongmil and imported wheat were approximately 5.70 mg/mL lower. The yeast cell numbers did not differ significantly, with the exception of in the rice Makgeolli (p<0.05). Among the organic acids (citric, malic, pyruvic and lactic acids) in Makgeolli, citric acid was present at the highest concentration. Regarding the sensory characteristics of Makgeolli mixed with barley and wheat, taste and overall acceptability were highest in Baegjoongmil, and appearance and flavor were highest in Keumkangmil. The rice Makgeolli showed the lowest sensory values, with the exception of appearance. The results of this study suggest that mixing Makgeolli with barley and wheat is an expected to replace the wheat materials in the domestic wheat to be imported.

마이크로웨이브 공정에 의한 마늘 올레오레진의 추출조건 설정 및 특성

  • 마늘을 MAE(microwave-assisted extractiona)방법에 의하여 물, 30% 에탄올 및 50% 에탄올로 추출하고 그 특성을 비교하였다. 마늘과 각 용매의 비율은 1:2.5로 하여 마이크로웨이브 60W로 각각 5분 및 20분 동안 추출하였다. 마늘 올레오레진 수율은 50% 에탄올로 20분동안 추출한 추출물이 14.1%로 가장 높았으며 polyphenol함량도 물로 20분동안 추출한 경우가 579.0mg%로 가장 많은 함량을 나타내었다. 전자공여작용 효과 및 피르브산 함량도 물로 20분 동안 추출한 추출물이 각각 32.7% 및 마늘 1g당 13.4$\mu$molus로 가장 높게 나타났다. 각 용매에 대해 20분동안 추출한 추출물들을 37$^{\circ}C$에서 8일동안 저장하면서 피르브산 함량과 전자공여작용의 변화를 조사한 결과, 피르브산 함량은 물 추출물이 에탄올 추출물보다 높은 함량을 나타내었고 저장 시간이 증가할수록 그 함량은 감소하는 경향을 나타내었다. 전자공여작용도 물 추출물이 가장 높은 효과를 나타내었으며 추출시간에 비례하여 증가하다가 저장 6일째부터 감소하는 경향을 나타내었다. 각 용매에 대한 추출물의 색깔을 조사한 결과 물 추출물이 가장 밝고 옅은 갈색을 나타내었으며 30% 에탄올 추출물이 가장 어둡고 푸르스름한 노란색을 나타내었다. 또한 각 추출물들을 37$^{\circ}C$에서 10일간 저장하면서 갈색화 정도를 측정해 본 결과 물 추출물이 에탄올 추출물이 에탄올 추출물보다 갈색화가 많이 진행되었으며 0.1% cysteine을 첨가한 추출물과 에탄올 추출물의 갈색화는 비슷한 경향을 나타내었다. 마늘 추출물을 추출한 후에 0.1% cysteine을 첨가하여 저장한 것 보다 추출하기 전에 첨가하는 경우가 갈색화 억제 효과가 뚜렷하였다.문에 밀가루에 일부를 대용한 wheat flour dough를 사용하고 가정용 제빵기로 구워 최종 단계에까지의 제빵성 결과를 산출했다. amarans folur 5%의 대체에는 빵의 비용적이 비교적 증대했지만 그 이상 amarans flour을 대처하면 확연히 비용적은 감소했다. amarans flour 10% 대체에 hemicellulase 1250U 이상을 첨가하면 비용적은 눈에 띄게 증대했다. farinograph에 있어서 반죽의 안정성은 amarans flour 10% 대용에 현저히 감소했다. 반죽의 점탄성(아축응력, 탄성률, 점성계수)는 amarans flour 10%를 대용한 것이 무첨가한 것보다 많이 단단해졌음을 알 수 있었다. 혼합중의 반죽의 조사형 전자현미경 관찰로 amarans flour로 대체한 gluten이 단단해졌음을 알수 있었다. 유화제 stearly 칼슘, 혹은 hemicellulase를 amarans 10% 대체한 밀가루에 첨가하면 확연히 비용적을 증대시킬 수 있다는 사실을 알 수 있었다. quinoa는 명아주과 Chenopodium에 속하고 페루, 볼리비아 등의 고산지에서 재배 되어지는 것을 시료로 사용하였다. quinoa 분말은 중량의 5-20%을 quinoa를 대체하고 더욱이 분말중량에 대하여 0-200ppm의 lipase를 lipid(밀가루의 2-3배)에 대하여 품질개량제로서 이용했다. 그 결과 quinoa 대량 7.5%에서 비용적, gas cell이 가장 긍정적 결과를 산출했고 반죽의 조직구조가 강화되었다. 또 quinoa 대체에 의해 전분-지질 복합제의 흡열량이 증대된 것으로부터 전분-지질복합제의 형성 촉진이 시사되었다.이것으로 인하여 호화억제에 의한 노화 방지효과가 기대되었지만 실제로 빵의 노화는 현저히 진행되었다. 이것은 quinua 대체량 증가에 따른 반죽의 안정성이 저하되어 버린 것으로 생

Stiffness Characterization of Biopolymer-treated Sandy Soils using Shear Wave Velocity (전단파속도를 이용한 바이오폴리머 처리 사질토의 강성특성 평가)

  • Xanthan gum biopolymer is an ecofriendly ground stabilizer that maintains stability in a wide range of temperatures and pH values. The binding effect of sandy soil particles realized by injecting xanthan gum biopolymer is dependent on the xanthan gum matrix, which is formed during the drying process; thus a study on the effects of the drying process of the xanthan gum solution on the changes in stiffness characteristics of sandy soil is required. In this study, shear wave velocity and electrical resistivity were monitored in sandy soil specimens saturated with biopolymer solutions of different gravimetric concentrations to investigate the improvement effects of biopolymer-treated sandy soils with the drying process. The experimental results reveal that both shear wave velocity and electrical resistivity increase during drying process. The results demonstrate the stiffness improvement effects of biopolymer-treated sandy soils. In addition, a higher stiffness improvement effect was monitored in the biopolymer-treated sandy soils with a higher gravimetric concentration. The results of this study may be used to estimate the stiffness improvement effects of sandy soils treated with biopolymer solutions with the drying process.

Quality Characteristics of Korean Pan-fried Food (Jeon) Added with Lactic-fermented Rice Flour (유산발효 쌀가루의 혼합비율에 따른 전(煎)의 품질특성)

  • This study was performed to investigate the effects of lactic-fermented rice flour on the quality characteristics of pan-fried food (Jeon). Pan-frying flour containing 5~20% lactic fermentation rice flour mixture was prepared. In rapid visco analyzer examination, peak viscosity, trough, final viscosity, breakdown, and setback of the lactic-fermented rice flour mixture were lower than those of rice flour or wheat flour. The L-value (lightness) of Jeon decreased with increasing the ratio of lactic-fermented rice flour. On the other hand, a-value (redness) and b-value (yellowness) increased with increasing ratio of lactic-fermented rice flour. Texture profiles showed that Jeon prepared with lactic-fermented rice flour mixture had higher springiness and gumminess than 100% rice flour. The oil absorptions of Jeon prepared with 100% rice flour and 20% lactic-fermented rice flour were 7.5% and 6.33%, respectively. For digestive properties, Jeon prepared with lactic-fermented rice mixture showed a greater amount of rapidly digestible starch and lower amount of slowly digestible starch. In the sensory evaluation, Jeon prepared with lactic-fermented rice mixture showed higher scores for appearance, flavor, and taste than others (rice flour and wheat flour). Especially, Jeon prepared with 10% lactic-fermented rice mixture showed the highest overall preference. In conclusion, the results demonstrate that lactic-fermented rice flour may prove quite useful as a pan-frying flour with desirable qualities properties.

  • 도시화로 인한 불투수면의 증가는 물순환 왜곡, 비점오염원 발생 및 수생태계 건상성 훼손 등을 야기시키며, 이를 해결하기 위하여 다양한 LID 기법을 적용하고 있다. 일반적으로 LID 내 적용 되는 여재들은 무기성여재로 중량이 크고 미세공극의 부재로 물리화학적 및 생물학적 저감기능이 제한적이다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 중량성이 낮은 생물폐자원을 선정하여 LID 시설 적용성평가를 수행하고자 한다. 생물폐자원은 발생량, 경량성 및 용이성을 고려하여 꼬막껍질(CS)과 호두껍질(WS)을 선정하였다. 생물폐자원의 산화부식을 고려하여 무기성 여재인 화산석과 혼합하여 Bioretention 시설에 적용하였으며, 여재 혼합비율에 따라 총 3가지의 Case 로 구성하였다. 식생은 구절초와 꽃댕강나무를 식재하였으며, 여재의 물리적 특성 분석을 위하여 적용 전과 후의 SEM(Scanning Electronic Microscope)을 수행하였다. 모니터링은 도로퇴적물 100g과 물 110L를 제조하여 인공강우유출수를 이용하여 수행하였으며, $0.0003{\sim}0.007m^3/sec$의 유속으로 주입하였다. 시설의 유입 및 유출부에서 유량 측정 및 수질 시료를 채취하였으며, 채취된 시료는 수질오염공정 시험법에 준하여 입자상 물질, 유기물, 영양물질 및 중금속 등을 분석하였다. Bioretention 시설의 모니터링 결과를 이용하여 물수지 및 TSS 저감 효율을 산정하였으며. 물수지 분석결과 시설의 저류율은 Case 1(soil) > Case 3(WS+RV) > Case 2(CS+RV) 순으로 나타났다. 시설 내 공극률이 가장 낮았던 Case 1에서 저류율이 약 55%로 가장 높게 것으로 분석되었다. Case 3(WS+RV)은 Case 2(WS+RV)와 시설 내 공극률이 유사함에도 불구하고 저류율이 약 10% 높은 것으로 분석되었다. 오염물질 저감효율 분석 결과, TSS와 TP의 제거효율은 모든 Case에서 약 75% 이상으로 높게 나타났으며, COD의 경우 모래를 적용한 Case 1에 비해 생물폐자원인 꼬막껍질과 호두껍질을 적용한 Case에서 약 1.3배 이상 높게 나타났다. 호두껍질과 꼬막껍질의 SEM 분석 결과 표면에 다공성이 형성되어 있는 것으로 조사되었다. 이는 여과 및 저류기작으로 인한 물순환 효과증대와 다공성과 돌기사이로 인한 입자상의 물질 여과 및 흡착으로 인하여 오염물질의 제거효율이 증대 된 것으로 평가된다. LID시설 내 생물폐자원과 무기성여재를 적절히 배합하여 복합여재로 조성할 경우 침하현상을 방지할 뿐만 아니라 저류 및 침투기능 향상과 미생물의 서식환경을 제공하기에 물순환 회복 및 비점오염물질 저감에 기여할 것으로 평가된다.

Effect of Mixed Cultivation of Two Rice Cultivars on Rice Growth and Grain Yield (수도 품종의 혼식재배가 생육 및 수량에 미치는 영향)

  • Competitive ability and response of grain yield in a mixed cropping of two cultivars having different agronomic traits were evaluated at the Yeongnam Crop Experiment Station in 1984 and 1985. Competitive ability was higher in Indica x Japonica cultivar, Milyang 23, and tall statured cultivar, Samgang-byeo, than in Japonica type cultivar, Nacdongbyeo, short statured type cultivar, Taebaegbyeo, respectively. Compared to pure stand, more grain yield was recorded when mixture rates were over 50% in a seed volume for the mixing rate of high yielding cultivar in two cultivars, but low compared to pure cultivation of the cul-tivar having the higher yielding ability in two cultivars.

Development of Eco-Block for Grass Growth based on Expanded Vermiculite Absorbing Bacteria (박테리아 흡착 팽창질석 기반 친생태 잔디블록의 개발)

  • This study developed an eco-block for grass growth using the expanded vermiculites that absorb bacteria selected considering for the high pH and dry environments and plant growth. For the developed eco-block, a fundamental properties including compressive strength gain and water absorption and ecology characteristics were tested. The selected bacteria was Bacillus alcalophilus a nd Rhodoblastus acidophilus and had high concentration of $10^9cell/mL$. The expanded vermiculite that was used for shelter of bacteria was added by 7.5% and 10% replacement of the natural aggregates by volume. The developed eco-block achieved the minimum requirements specified in SPS provision and significantly effective in reducing chemical Chemical Oxygen Demand(COD) concentration and enhancing the growth of fish and plant.

  • Damping characteristics of chemically treated solls were studied by the use of FFT Analyzer and Bandwidth method. Also Modal Analysis was performed for the solidified silty sand samples. The soil samples were made of gravelly sand, sand, and silty sand, treated by water-glass chemical grouts. As the result of the study, it was found that the chemical grouting could be used for the vibration diminutinn effect as well as cut-off effect and strength improvement by the fact that the damping ratio of chemically treated soils was highly increased as the damping ratio of solidified soil was 0.11~0.22 and rathier high values in compare with the damping ratio of common soils which was 0.01~0.10.

  • In order to establish a effective application method of compost and phosphorus fertilizer for rice plant, a field experiment has been conducted and the variation of the organic matter content in soils has been observed. The results may be summarized as follows. 1. It was more effective to split the application time into basic and in 2 weeks before the young premodia formation for the yield increase of rice grain than to applicate once basic, and it was apparent that the lesser amount of organic matter during the growing period of rice was consumed, the higher yield of rice grain was resulted. 2. The combined application of compost and phosphorus fertilizer showed a tendency to raise higher the grain yield than the separated application. 3. It was suggested that the split application of compost bring yield increase of rice grain.
