Development of Hedging Rule for Drought Management Policy Reflecting Risk Performance Criteria of Single Reservoir System (단일 저수지의 위험도 평가기준을 고려한 가뭄대비 Hedging Rule 개발)

  • During drought or impending drought period, the reservoir operation method is required to incorporate demand-management policy rule. The objective of this study is focused to the development of demand reduction rule by incorporating hedging-effect for a single reservoir system. To improve the performance measure of the objective function and constraints, we could incorporate three risk performance criteria proposed by Hashimoto et al. (1982) by mixed-integer programming and also incorporate successive linear programming to overcome nonlinear hedging term from the previous study(Shih et al., 1994). To verify this model, this hedging rule was applied to the Daechung multi-purpose dam. As a result, we could evaluate optimal hedging parameters and monthly trigger volumes.

Line Planning Optimization Model for Intercity Railway (지역간 철도의 노선계획 최적화 모형)

  • The purpose of this research is to optimize the line planning of the intercity passenger railway. In this study, the line planning problem has been formulated into a mixed integer programming by minimizing both user costs (passenger's total travel time) and operator costs (operation, maintenance and vehicle costs) with multiple train types. As a solution algorithm, the branch-and-bound method is used to solve this problem. The change of travel demand, train speed and the number of schedules have been tested through sensitivity analysis. The optimal stop-schedules and frequency as well as system split with respect to each train type have been found in the case study of Kyoung-bu railway line in Korea. The model and results of this research are useful to make a decision for railway operation strategy, to analyze the efficiency of new railway systems and to evaluate the social costs of users and operators.

  • It is essential to give a fatal damage to the enemy force by using prompt and accurate fire in order to overcome the lack of artillery force. During the artillery fire operations, minimizing the firing time will secure the adapt ability in tactical operation. In this paper, we developed a mathematical model to schedule the artillery fire on the multiple targets to decrease total fire operation time. To design a program to describe a real firing situation, we consider many possible circumstances of changes such as commander's intention, firing constraints, target priority, and contingency plan to make a fire plan in an artillery unit. In order to work out the target sequencing problem, MIP is developed and the optimum solution is obtained by using ILOG OPL. If this analytical model is applied to a field artillery unit, it will improve the efficiency of the artillery fire force operations.

A Study on the Improvement of Inter-Terminal Transportation Using Buffer Space (완충지역을 활용한 타부두 환적 컨테이너 운송 개선 방안)

  • Competition between ports around the world is intensifying to attract transshipment cargo. However, recently, there have been concerns about the departure of transshipment cargo volume at Busan Port, such as the lifting of the cabotage policy in China's shipping sector and the implementation of a safe fare system. In terms of operation, terminal congestion and vehicle waiting time are seriously occurring due to imbalance in the transshipment volume of each terminal and vehicles concentrated in a specific time period. In this paper, we propose a method of inter-terminal transportation (ITT) using buffer space to solve the problem caused by inefficient ITT systems and presented a mixed integer programming (MIP) for the problem. The effect of using the buffer space was analyzed for various work volumes and capacity fluctuation ranges by applying the terminal congestion pattern and ITT vehicle in/out pattern based on the Busan New Port data.

  • Recently, the magnitude and frequency of the natural disaster have been increased, the damage has become severer. The importance of disaster response system to relieve the damage has arised continuously. This study has tried to develop the algorithm to solve the facility location and size problem in emergency logistics. A facility in the emergency logistics has various roles in victim care, casualty treatment, relief resource management and relief vehicle assistance. Moreover, the location of facility in emergency logistics has to consider the safety and reliability. To gather these information, information management system with IoT sensors are suggested. The location problem in this study also covers various features to response various demands in disaster. To solve this problem, this study suggested MIP based algorithm. Scenario based simulation experiments are conducted to verify the performance suggested algorithm.

An Analysis of Optimal Operation Strategy of ESS to Minimize Electricity Charge Using Octave (Octave를 이용한 전기 요금 최소화를 위한 ESS 운전 전략 최적화 방법에 대한 분석)

  • Reductions of the electricity charge are achieved by demand management of the load. The demand management method of the load using ESS involves peak shifting, which shifts from a high demand time to low demand time. By shifting the load, the peak load can be lowered and the energy charge can be saved. Electricity charges consist of the energy charge and the basic charge per contracted capacity. The energy charge and peak load are minimized by Linear Programming (LP) and Quadratic Programming (QP), respectively. On the other hand, each optimization method has its advantages and disadvantages. First, the LP cannot separate the efficiency of the ESS. To solve these problems, the charge and discharge efficiency of the ESS was separated by Mixed Integer Linear Programming (MILP). Nevertheless, both methods have the disadvantages that they must assume the reduction ratio of peak load. Therefore, QP was used to solve this problem. The next step was to optimize the formula combination of QP and LP to minimize the electricity charge. On the other hand, these two methods have disadvantages in that the charge and discharge efficiency of the ESS cannot be separated. This paper proposes an optimization method according to the situation by analyzing quantitatively the advantages and disadvantages of each optimization method.

Characterization of B-doped a-SiC:H Thin Films Grown by Plasma-Enhanced Chemical Vapor Deposition (플라즈마 화학증착법으로 제조된 B-doped a-SiC:H 박막의 물성)

  • B-doped hydrogenated amorphous silicon carbide (a-SiC:H) thin films were prepared by plasma-enhanced chemical-vapor deposition in a gas mixture of $SiH_4$, $CH_4$ and $B_2H_6$. Microstructures and chemical properties of a-SiC:H films grown with varing the volume ratio of $CH_4$ to $SiH_4$ were characterized with various analysis methods including scanning electron microscopy(SEM), X-ray diffractometry(XRD), Raman spectroscopy, Fourier-transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy. X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS), UV absorption spectroscopy and photoconductivity measurements. While Si:H films grown without $CH_4$ showed amorphous state, the addition of $CH_4$ during deposition enhanced the development of a microcrystalline phase. By introducing C atoms into the film, Si-Si and Si--$\textrm{H}_{n}$ bonds of a -Si:H films were gradually replaced by Si-C, C-C, and Si--$\textrm{C}_{n}\textrm{H}_{m}$ bonds. Consequently, the electrical resistivity and optical bandgap of a-SiC:H films were increased with the C concentration in the film.

  • The purpose of this paper is to develope a large-scale mixed integer program MIPBB. In this paper, the various issues such as branching strategies, searching and bounding strategies, storing basis information, handling numerical instability, that are important for developing a large-scale mixed integer programming program, are considered. And the experimental results of MIPBB are presented and compared to those of GLPK.

Voltage Control and Security Assessment of Power System Using Mixed Integer Linear Programming (혼합정수 선형계획법을 이용한 계통의 전압제어 및 안전도 평가)

  • In this paper, a mixed-integer programming approach is presented for adjusting the voltage profiles in a power system. The advent of large-scaled system makes the reactive power and voltage problem-an attempt to achieve an overall improvement of system security, service quality and economy-more complex and seriously, Although the problem is originally a nonlinear optimization problem, it can be formulated as a mixed integer linear programming(MILP) problem without deteriorating of solution accuracy to a certain extent. The MILP code is developed by the branch and bound process search for the optimal solution. The variable for modeling transformer tap positions is handled as discrete one, and other variables continuous ones. Numerical data resulting from case study using a modified IEEE 30 bus system with outaged line show that the MILP can produce more reductions of magnitude in the operating cost. The convergence characteristics of the results are also presented and discussed.

  • 현재 전력수급기본계획은 전국을 한일권으로 하여 발전계획을 수립하고 송변전설비계획을 수립하고 있다. 그러나 발전설비와 송변전설비는 하나의 망으로 연결되어 상호 보완적 영향을 주기 때문에 수급계획시 두 설비를 동시에 평가하는 것이 무엇보다 중요하다. 본 논문에서는 혼합정수형 선형계획법(MIP)을 이용하여 발송전 전력설비를 통합적으로 최적 구성할 수 있는 방안에 대하여 분석하였다. 전력수급기본계획 수립시 제출된 건설의향설비에 대해 송변전설비와 통합하여 적정 예비율을 갖는 최적설비 구성방안을 수립하고, 이때의 설비투자비와 운전비를 분석하였다.
