Preparation and Characterization of Cerium Oxide/Silica Composite Particles (세륨 옥사이드/실리카 복합입자 제조 및 특성분석)

  • Composite particles of porous silica and cerium oxide nanoparticles blocking UV/blue light were prepared through a dry coating process. Various composite particles were prepared by varying conditions such as the mixing ratio of cerium oxide and silica, and the chamber rotating speed of mechano fusion system. The surface morphology of the composite particles was observed with SEM and the composition was analyzed using X-ray fluorescence (XRF). When the cerium oxide/silica composite particles were dispersed in water, the transparency and dispersion stability of the colloidal solution were improved. In addition, the fluidity and spreadability of the particle powder were enhanced by making composite particles. These results show that cerium oxide/silica composite particles can be used as functional cosmetic ingredients for UV/blue light protection.

Optimal Design of New Magnetorheological Mount for Diesel Engines of Ships (선박용 디젤엔진을 위한 새로운 MR 마운트의 최적설계)

  • This paper presents an optimal design of a magnetorheological(MR) fluid-based mount(MR mount) that can be used for to vibration control in diesel engines of ships. In this work, a mount that uses mixed-modes(squeeze mode, flow mode, and shear mode) is proposed and designed. To determine the actuating damping force of the MR mount required for efficient vibration control, the excitation force from a diesel engine is analyzed. In this analysis, a model of a V-type engine is considered. The relationship between the velocity and pressure of gas in terms of the torque acting on the piston is derived. Subsequently, by integrating the field-dependent rheological properties of commercially available MR fluid with the excitation force, the appropriate size of the MR mount is designed. In addition, to achieve the maximum actuating force under geometric constraints, design optimization is undertaken using the ANSYS parametric design language software. Through magnetic density analysis, optimal design parameters such as the bottom gap and radius of coil are determined.

  • In this paper, we present the results of the wear analysis of journal bearings on a stripped-down single-cylinder engine during start-up and coast-down by motoring. We calculate journal bearing wear by using a modified specific wear rate considering the fractional film defect coefficient and load-sharing ratio for the asperity portion of a mixed elastohydrodynamic lubrication (EHL) regime coupled with previously presented graphical data of experimental lifetime linear wear in radial journal bearings. Based on the calculated wear depth, we obtain a new oil film thickness for every crank angle. By examination of the oil film thickness, we determine whether the oil film thickness at the wear scar region is in a mixed lubrication regime by comparing dimensionless oil film thickness, h/σ, to 3.0 at every crank angle. We present the lift-off speed and the crank angles involved with the wear calculation for bearings #1 and #2. The dimensionless oil film thickness, h/σ, illustrates whether the lubrication region between the two surfaces is still within the bounds of the mixed lubrication regime after scarring of the surface by wear. In addition, we present in tables the asperity contact pressure, the real minimum film thickness at the wear scar region, the modified specific wear rate, and the wear angle, α, for bearings #1 & #2. To show the real shape of the oil film at wear scar region, we depict the actual oil film thickness in graphs. We also tabulated the ranges of bearing angles related with wear scar. We present the wear volume for bearings #1 and #2 after one turn-on and turn-off of the engine ignition switch for five kinds of equivalent surface roughness. We show that the accumulated wear volume after a single turn-on and turn-off of an ignition switch normally increases with increasing surface roughness, with a few exceptions.

  • This paper presents a wear analysis procedure for the journal bearings on a stripped-down single-cylinder engine during start-up and coast-down by motoring. A journal bearing is in the mixed elastohydrodynamic (EHL) lubrication region when the shaft speed is less than the corresponding lift-off speed. Below the lift-off speed, a wear scar can form on bearing surfaces. In part 1 of this paper, we develop the appropriate formulations and the calculation procedure for the analysis. Specifically, we formulate an equation for modified film thickness in a journal bearing considering the additional wear volume. In order to obtain the modified specific wear rate induced by the modified Archard’s wear coefficient, we utilized the extended non-dimensional diagram for the specific wear rate, k, the fractional film defect coefficient, Ψ and the asperity load sharing factor, γ2. This asperity load sharing factor is newly calculated by setting the Zhao-Maietta-Chang (ZMC) asperity contact pressure equation coupled with the central film thickness equation derived by using the ZMC asperity contact model equal to the modified central contact pressure derived by using the central (or maximum) contact pressure at the dry rough line-contact configuration. We can use the procedure introduced in this paper to determine the lifetime (or longterm) linear wear in radial journal bearings that is a result of repeated stop-start cycles.

The composition control of ITO/PET by Plasma Emission Monitors (PEM을 이용한 ITO/PET film 조성 제어)

  • 현재 LCD용 기판재료는 ITO/glass를 전극으로 사용하고 있다. 그러나 유리기판은 무겁고 깨지기 쉽기 때문에 사용상 곤란한 점이 많다. 최근 flexible하고 가공성 및 생산성이 우수한 플라스틱한 ITO를 성막하여 EL용, Touch panel, plastic LCD용 사용하려는 시도로, roll-to-roll 연속 스퍼터링에 의한 ITO성막공정에 대한 연구가 최근 활발하게 이루어지고 있다. 폴리머는 유리에 비해 Tg 온도가 낮고, 기판으로부터의 수분 및 여러 종류의 가스방출이 심하기 때문에 유리와는 달리 ITO막의 제조에 있어 큰 차이점이 있다. 따라서, 폴리머에 반응성 스퍼터링을 하기 위해서는 표면처리가 중요한 변수가 되며, roll to roll sputter로 ITO 필름을 얻기 위해서는 폭과 길이 방향으로 균일한 막을 얻는 것이 중요하다. 두께 75$\mu\textrm{m}$, 폭 190mm, 길이 400m로 권취된 광학용 Polyethylene terephthalate(PET:Tg:8$0^{\circ}C$)위에 In-10%Sn의 합금타겟과 Unipolar pulsed DC power supply를 사용하여 반응성 마그네트론 스퍼터링 방법으로 0.2m/min의 속도로 연속 스퍼터링 하였다. PET를 Ar/O2 혼합가스로 플라즈마 전처리를 한 후, AFM, XPS를 이용하여 효과를 분석을 하였고, 성막전에 가스방출을 막기 위해 TiO를 코팅하였다. Pilot 연속 생산공정에서 재현성을 위해 PEM(Plasma Emission Monitor)의 optical emission spectroscopy를 이용, 금속과 산화물의 천이구역에서 sprtter된 I/Sn 이온과 산소 이온의 반응에 의한 최적의 플라즈마의 강도값을 입력하여 플라즈마의 radiation을 검출하고, 스퍼터링 공정중 실질적인 in-situ 정보로 이용하였다. PEM을 통하여 In/Sn의 플라즈마 강도변화를 조사하였다. 초기 In/Sn의 플라즈마 강도(intensity)는 강도를 100하여, 산소를 주입한 결과, plasma intensity가 35 줄어들었고, 이때 우수한 ITO 박막을 얻을 수 있었다. Pulsed DC power를 사용하여 아크 현상을 방지하였다. PET 상에 coating 된 ITO 박막의 표면저항과 광투과도는 4-point prove와 spectrophotometer를 이용하여 분석하였고, AES로 박막의 두께에 따른 성분비를 확인하였다. ITO 박막의 광투과도는 산소의 유량과 sputter 된 In/Sn ion의 plasma emission peak에 따라 72%-92%까지 변화하였으며, 저항은 37$\Omega$/$\square$ 이상을 나타내었다. 박막의 Sn/In atomic ratio는 0.12, O/In의 비율은 In2O3의 화학양론적 비율인 1.5보다 작은 1.3을 나타내었다.

  • 태양계 질량의 대부분은 플라즈마, 기체, 또는 액체 상태로 존재하며, 극히 일부만이 고체 즉 암석과 광물로 존재한다. 하지만, 반응 특히 혼합(mixing)이 일어나는 속도가 매우 느린 고체의 특성상 태양계의 탄생과 진화 과정의 기록은 고체태양계 물질에 더 잘 보관되어 있다. 지구를 제외한 고체 태양계 물질을 확보하기 위해서는 지구로 낙하한 암석인 운석(meteorites)을 발견하거나, 우주로 나가 시료를 가져와야 한다. 아폴로 미션(Apollo mission)에 의한 월석(lunar rocks) 채취(Papike et al., 1998), 하야부사 미션(Hayabusa mission)에 의한 소행성(asteroid) 시료 채취(Nakamura et al., 2011), 스타더스트 미션(Stardust mission)에 의한 혜성 시료 채취(Zolensky et al., 2006) 등이 후자에 속한다. 능동적으로 가져온 시료는 아직까지는 그 종류와 양에서 운석에 비해 매우 부족하므로 현재까지 우리가 알고 있는 고체 태양계에 관한 대부분은 운석 연구를 통해 얻어졌다. 운석은 크게 미분화운석 즉 콘드라이트(chondrites)와 분화운석(differentiated meteorites)으로 구분한다. 분화운석 중 일부는 달운석(lunar meteorites) 또는 화성운석(martian meteorites)이며, 나머지 분화운석과 콘드라이트는 암석-지구화학적 특징과 성인적 연관성에 의해 다양한 그룹으로 세분되는데 각 그룹은 하나의, 또는 둘 이상의 매우 유사한, 소행성에서 유래한 것으로 해석된다(Krot et al., 2014; 최변각 2009). 다양한 종류의 운석과 구성 광물에 포함된 기록으로는 (1) 태양계 이전 존재한 항성의 대기에서 생성된 광물, 즉 선태양계 광물(presolar grains), (2) 태양계 성운 탄생과 각 진화 단계의 정확한 시기, (3) 태양계 성운의 화학조성-동위원소 조성, 온도-압력 조건 등을 포함한 물리-화학적 특징, (4) 가스-먼지로부터 미행성, 소행성, 행성으로의 진화 과정, (5) 행성 진화의 열원, (6) 소행성 핵의 생성 과정 등이 있다. 강연에서는 이들을 간략히 살펴보고자 한다. 운석연구 등을 통해 태양계 생성과 진화과정에 관한 다양한 정보가 축적되었지만, 앞으로 연구할 것들이 더 많다. 또한 태양계 물질 중에는 운석의 형태로 지구로 들어왔거나 앞으로 들어올 수 있는 것도 있지만 그렇지 않은 것도 있다. 가스나 기체의 경우가 그러할 것이며, 고체지만 결합이 약해 일부라도 원형을 유지한 채 대기권을 통과 할 수 없는 것도 있을 것이다. 또 공전궤도나 중력 등 물리적 이유로 지구권 진입이 불가능한 것도 있다. 이러한 태양계 구성원에는 우리가 아직까지 얻지 못한 정보들이 다량 보존되어 있을 것이다. 미래의 태양계탐사가 기대되는 이유 중 하나이다.

Lamination of Dielectric Layers by High Pressure Spray Coating for LTCC (고압 스프레이 코팅법에 의한 저온동시소성세라믹(LTCC) 유전체 층의 적층방법)

  • Aerosol slurry composed of dielectric materials, distilled water, and deflocculants was sprayed on the substrates, through a high-pressure spray gun as an aerosol. The coated layers were cofired together with $Al_{2}O_{3}$ substrates and green sheets on which the inner connectors were printed. Although the coating rate of coated layers strongly depended on slurry viscosity, spray shape, and the pressure of the spray gun, the coated density was not changed. Buried conductors were maintained as printed by high pressure spray coating method, because the pressing process was not used. At the optimum condition of air controller step 3-4 and slurry viscosity c.p 2000-4000, dense and uniform layers could be achieved. Comparing with conventional lamination process using green sheets, spray coating method enabled thin dielectric layers of $20{\sim}50{\mu}m$.

Design and Implementation of Wideband Ultra-Fast High Precision Frequency Synthesizer for ELINT Equipment (ELINT 장비용 광대역 초고속 고정밀 주파수 합성기 설계 및 구현)

  • In this paper, a wideband ultra-high speed & high purity discrete frequency synthesizer having minimum 2.5 MHz step size was proposed. To achieve fast and wideband operation, discrete frequencies were synthesized by mixing of 3 different pre-synthesized 16 frequencies made from fixed PLL and frequency dividers. Frequencies with discrete 2.5 MHz step were produced in 710~1,610 MHz. The measured hopping response time was 350 nsec average, output level was 21.5 dBm average with 2.65 dB flatness, spurious and harmonics level were suppressed below -60 dBc, and phase noise was -94 dBc/Hz@100 Hz. Also, a new measurement method for synthesizer response time was described.

  • With the development of tourism the desire for a variety of tours for visitors was occurred. Accordingly, to meet the needs of tourists for the development of various tourism products is necessary. In addition to the occurrence of environmental problems needs to develop enviromental tourism products. In this study refocus on rapidly developed templestay and difference of life quality between before experienced templestay and after experienced templestay as product development of low-carbon green was to explore the possibilities. The findings were as follows. First, the increase of age, they satisfacted temples experience like meditation, tea ceremony and Buddhist cultural experience. 11 questions of life quality, 9 items showing significant differences in the quality of life in it will be useful temple stay was used.

The Performance Degradation of PEMFCs Fabricated with Different GDLs During Exposure to Simultaneous Sulfur Impurity Poisoning Condition (서로 다른 GDL을 이용한 고분자전해질 막 연료전지의 황불순물 복합피독에 의한 성능 저하)

  • This paper reveals the performance decrease and recovery of PEMFC when the contaminated fuel gas and air source with sulfur impurities such as hydrogen sulfide and sulfur dioxide were simultaneously introduced to anode and cathode, respectively. Three different GDLs were fabricated with different carbon black and activated carbon to prevent an introduction of sulfur compound impurities into MEA. components. The severity of $SO_2$ and $H_2S$ poisoning was depended on concentrations(3 ppm - 10 ppm) of sulfur impurities. Especially, cell performance degradation rate was rapid when MEA fabricated with CN-2 GDL because it had little porosity on GDL surface. Moreover, the cell performance can be recovered up to 90%-95% only with neat hydrogen and fresh air feeding.. Conclusively, MEA fabricated with porous CN-1 GDL showed the best cell performance and recovery efficiency during exposure to poisoning condition by simultaneous sulfur impurities.
