A Survey on the Health, Food Perceptions, and Food Habits of Urban Elderly Men -With Special Reference to Elderly Men in the Tap-gol Park- (도시 남자노인의 건강과 식품에 대한 인식 및 식습관 조사 -탑골공원 노인을 대상으로-)

  • A survey was conducted to investigate the perceptions of health and foods, and the food habits among the elderly men who came to the Tap-Gol park on a daily basis. A total of 253 subjects were selected for this study. The data was analyzed through the $X^2-test$, Duncan's multiple range test and Pearson Correlation by the use of SAS program. The results were as follows. The majority of the subjects were in their 70's. 56.1% of them lived with their sons' families, 9.1% lived alone, and 27.3% lived with a spouse. 32% of the subjects were living with the expense less than 50,000 won per month. Although some were suffering from such diseases as arthritis, indigestion, and hypertension etc., the subjects were generally in good health. Their dependance on dietary supplements were insignificant. Most of the subject had a common-sensible notion as to health. They put emphasis on the three factors for the maintenance of good health: a balanced diet, a peace of mind and exercising. With regard to the food habits, the majority were fair in general. The subject living with family had more regular meals than the single people did. 41.5% of the subjects responded that they had irregular meals, mainly for lunch due to a poor appetite or a financial problem. The respondents cited protein food, milk, fruit, sea weeds and food cooked with oil as conducive to good health. But what they consumed did not match what they thought was good, particularly milk. The results of this study lead to the suggestion that Korea need to develop such a lunch program for the elderly as is practiced in the U.S., through which dietary motivation can be stimulated and a low-priced and balanced diet offered at least for one meal a day.

Health-related quality of life according to breakfast in elderly (노인의 아침식사에 따른 건강관련 삶의 질)

  • This study was conducted to determine the correlation between breakfast consumption and health-related quality of life in elderly adults. It analyzed the data from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey from 2010 to 2012, using a sample of 4,035 people aged 65 or above. Analysis followed the SAS SURVEY procedure, considering the complex sample design. A t-test, a chi-square test, and logistic regression analysis were performed using SAS version 9.3. The rate of skipping breakfast by elderly adults was 4.7%, and it was higher in women and elderly adults living alone. It also significantly differed by drinking status and BMI. Elderly adults consuming breakfast had slightly higher scores on the health-related quality of life measure than those who did not (0.85 vs 0.81). Results revealed that health-related quality of life increased with meal frequency, and that elderly adults who ate breakfast tended to score better on the pain/discomfort and anxiety/depression domains of the health-related quality of life measure. It was found that breakfast consumption associated with health-related quality of life in elderly adults. Accordingly, it is necessary to increase awareness among elderly adults regarding the importance of breakfast, and to improve their health-related quality of life by developing and implementing interventions to improve dietary habits.

A Convergence study Differences of Obesity, Depression, and Quality of Life depending on Eating-alone in Unmarried Adults (미혼 성인의 혼밥 유무에 따른 비만, 우울과 삶의 질 차이에 대한 융복합 연구)

  • This convergence study investigated the differences in obesity, depression, and quality of life of unmarried adults who ate alone. Secondary data from the 7th National Health-Nutrition Survey in Korea was analyzed using the SPSS 24.0 program. We utilized data from 344 unmarried adults who received three meals per day. Our results showed that the rate of eating-alone was higher in the group with participants who were over 30-year-old, belonged to single-person households, and had low incomes. The group which ate alone had high depression scores and low quality of life scores. When developing a health promotion program, it is necessary to manage depression and quality of life of persons who eat alone and belong to single-person households.

Relations Between the Dietary Habit and Academic Achievement, Subjective Health Judgement, Physical Status of High School Students (고등학생의 식습관과 학업성취도, 주관적 건강상태 및 체격과의 관계 연구)

  • This study was performed to investigate the relations between dietary habit and academic achievement, subjective health judgement, and physical status. The subjects consisted of freshmen in university and answered to questionnaires through the Internet. The questionnaire consists of the dietary habit, academic achievement (College Scholastic Ability Test), subjective health judgement, and physical status during their 3$^{rd}$ grade in high school days. Data were collected from 3,612 people. Over 33% of respondents had their breakfast daily. Subjects who had breakfast below twice per week were 37.9%. The major reason of skipping breakfast was lack of time to eat breakfast (62.8%). The subjects who recognized the importance of breakfast were 80.6% (p<0.001). More than half (52.7%) thought that dinner was most tasty. People who ate breakfast regularly had a tendency to recognize their health state were in good health (p<0.01). There was no significant difference of BMI (body mass index) according to the frequency of breakfast per week. The subjects who had their breakfast regularly and well-balanced dietary habit reported higher marks in the College Scholastic Ability Test. In contrast, the subjects who rarely had breakfast showed poor marks of academic achievement and subjective health judgement. According to these results, a good dietary habit is considered to be important to academic achievement and confidence in health. Therefore we suggest the school breakfast program and nutrition education program should be required for teenagers. In addition, the findings from this study would provide the basic information for nutrition education in Korean teenagers..

Nutritional status and related parental factors according to the breakfast frequency of elementary school students: based on the 2013~2015 Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (초등학생의 아침식사 빈도에 따른 영양상태와 부모 관련요인 분석 : 2013 ~ 2015년 국민건강영양조사 자료를 활용하여)

  • Purpose: This study was conducted to identify the dietary life and nutritional status of Korean elementary school students according to breakfast frequency and to clarify the relationship between breakfast frequency of elementary school students and parental dietary and social environmental factors. Methods: This study used data from the 2013 ~ 2015 Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (KNHANES VI). The subjects were 1,325 elementary school students aged 6 to 11 years old. Subjects were categorized into two groups: a skipping breakfast group (ate breakfast 0 ~ 4 times per week), eating breakfast group (ate breakfast 5 ~ 7 times per week) by sex and grade (lower grade: 1st ~ 3rd/upper grade: 4 th ~ 6 th). Results: Among upper grade boys and girls, the skipping breakfast group had a higher rate of childhood obesity than the eating breakfast group. In lower grade boys, the mothers of the skipping breakfast group had higher rates of economic activity and eating breakfast alone without family members than the mothers of the eating breakfast group. For lower grade boys and girls and upper grade boys, the skipping breakfast group had a higher rate of parents who did not eat breakfast than the eating breakfast group. The energy intake of the breakfast consumed by all subjects was less than 25% of the Estimated Energy Requirements (EER). Moreover, for upper grade boys and girls, the skipping breakfast group had a higher rate of subjects whose daily intake was below the Estimated Average Requirement (EAR) for iron than the eating breakfast group. Conclusion: Breakfast frequency of elementary school students was related to childhood obesity. The frequency of eating breakfast among elementary school students was related to the dietary life factors of parents such as breakfast frequency and dietary condition. Intake for breakfast was less than 25% of the EER, while the skipping breakfast group had a higher rate of subjects whose daily intake was below the EAR for iron than the eating breakfast group. Therefore, it is necessary to consider diverse forms of policy support such as opening nutrition education programs for parents and practicing morning meals at school for elementary school students to provide regular and balanced breakfasts.

  • Purpose: This study examined the food and nutrient intake of Korean elderly according to the anxiety and depressive condition using the data from the Korea National Health and Nutrition Survey (KNHANES) from 2013 to 2015. Methods: The participants were 3,504 elderly people over 65 years of age (1,523 in men and, 1,981 in women). The dietary information was analyzed using the 24-hour recall data. The anxiety and depressive state was assessed using the self-reported scale EQ-5D in the quality of life dimension. The subjects were divided into the anxiety depression group (AD) and non-anxiety depression group (NAD) according to their anxiety and depressive conditions. Results: In the male elderly, the AD group had a significantly lower education and economic level and higher proportion in living alone than the NAD group. The percentage of eating lunch and dinner alone in the male AD group was higher than that of the NAD group. The female AD group showed less a lower frequency of dinner than the NAD group. The male AD group had a lower consumption of total foods, fish and shellfishes, seaweeds, mushrooms, oils and fats, and seasonings than the NAD group. With regard to the nutrient intake, the male elderly NAD group had more sufficient nutrient intakes than the AD group. In particular, the daily intakes of dietary fiber, riboflavin, niacin, potassium and iron were significantly lower in the AD group. To compare with the nutrient density of the two groups, the vitamin C and niacin intakes were lower in the AD group than in the NAD group. Overall, the nutritional status of the male AD group was significantly lower than that of the NAD group. Meanwhile, the female elderly had showed a smaller difference in nutrient intake according to their anxiety and depressive condition. Conclusion: These results of this study show that more nutritional education and emotional support are needed to improve the nutritional status and health of the male elderly with anxiety or depression.

Study on BMI, Dietary Behavior, and Nutrient Intake Status According to Frequency of Breakfast Intake in Female College Students in Chuncheon Area (춘천지역 일부 여대생의 아침식사 빈도에 따른 BMI, 식행동 및 영양소 섭취상태)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate BMI, dietary behavior, and nutrient intake status according to frequency of breakfast intake in female college students (n=253) in Chuncheon area. This study was conducted by employing a self-administered questionnaire. Dietary assessment was measured by the 24-h recall method. The subjects were divided into two groups by frequency of breakfast: Five to seven times per week (eating breakfast group, n=139) and none to four times per week (skipping breakfast group, n=114). The living with parents group showed significant high frequency of breakfast intake, whereas the self-boarding group showed significant low frequency of breakfast intake. The body image satisfaction score of the 5~7 times/week group was higher than that of the 0~4 times/week group. The average height and weight of the 5~7 times/week group were $161.0{\pm}0.1cm$ and $52.6{\pm}7.6kg$, respectively, whereas those of the 0~4 times/week group were $160.7{\pm}0.1cm$ and $57.1{\pm}11.8kg$, respectively. The average body mass index (BMI) values of the 5~7 times/week and 0~4 times/week groups were $19.8{\pm}1.9kg/m^2$ and $21.5{\pm}3.4kg/m^2$, respectively. The dietary behavior score of the 5~7 times/week group was higher than that of the 0~4 times/week group. The daily averages for energy, carbohydrate, and protein intakes in the 5~7 times/week group were significantly higher than those of the 0~4 times/week group. Intakes of vitamin A, vitamin $B_1$, vitamin $B_2$, niacin, vitamin $B_6$, P, Zn, and cholesterol in the 5~7 times/week group were significantly higher than those of the 0~4 times/week group. Multiple regression analysis revealed that resident type was the most significant variable associated with breakfast intake frequency. Therefore, strengthening dietary education programs that largely focus on resident type will greatly contribute to prevent skipping breakfast.

  • 현대의 산업화 사회에서는 자동인식을 통해서 사람과 사물을 식별하고자 하는 연구들이 진행되고 있다. 그 대표적인 예로 바코드를 이용한 접촉식 판별기술이 있고, 라디오 주파수를 이용한 RFID(Radio Frequency Identification) 기술을 들 수 있다. RFID의 경우는 무선 주파수를 이용하기 때문에 대량의 사물을 동시에 인식 할 수 있다는 장점이 있다. 하지만. 어떠한 상황에서 리더의 요청에 응답을 하는 리더-태그 시스템이기 때문에 사용자의 프라이버시 침해 문제를 야기 할 수 있다. 사용자의 프라이버시 침해문제를 막기 위해서 많은 연구들이 진행되고 있다. 그 중에서, Miyako Ohkubo의 Hash체인을 이용한 프라이버시 보호 기법은 정보유출, 위치추적공격(Location Tracking Attack), 전방위보안성(Forward Security)과 같은 프라이버시 침해문제들로부터 사용자의 프라이버시를 보호 할 수 있는 프로토콜이다. 그러나 Hash함수를 태그에 구현하는 것은 현재까지는 불가능한 상황이다. 또, Martin Feldhofer의 AES(Advanced Encryption Standard)를 사용한 프로토콜은 실제로 태그에 구현 가능하면서 내부구조가 8bit인 AES를 사용함으로써 암호학적인 강도를 높였으나, 프라이버시 침해 문제에서 단점을 드러냈다. 이러한 단점을 보완한 AES기반에서의 개선된 RFID 프라이버시 보호 프로토콜은 실제적으로 태그에 구현 가능한 AES를 이용한 암호화 체인을 통해서 프라이버시 보호에 우수하면서 실제 사용이 가능한 프로토콜을 제안하였다[1]. 그러나, 이 프로토콜은 생성되는 키 값들이 물리적 공격을 통해서 노출이 되었을 때, 이전의 seed값과 키 값들이 노출 되는 단점이 있다. 본 논문에서는 이러한 문제들을 해결하고자 프라이버시보호에 새로운 키 생성 방법을 통한 강력한 프로토콜을 제안 한다.하였으나 사료효율은 증진시켰으며, 후자(사양, 사료)와의 상호작용은 나타나지 않았다. 이상의 결과는 거세비육돈에서 1) androgen과 estrogen은 공히 자발적인 사료섭취와 등지방 침적을 억제하고 IGF-I 분비를 증가시키며, 2) 성선스테로이드호르몬의 이 같은 성장에 미치는 효과의 일부는 IGF-I을 통해 매개될 수도 있을을 시사한다. 약 $70 {\~} 90\%$의 phenoxyethanol이 유상에 존재하였다. 또한, 미생물에 대한 항균력도 phenoxyethanol이 수상에 많이 존재할수록 증가하는 경향을 나타내었다. 따라서, 제형 내 oil tomposition을 변화시킴으로써 phenoxyethanol의 사용량을 줄일 수 있을 뿐만 아니라, 피부 투과를 감소시켜 보다 피부 자극이 적은 저자극 방부시스템 개발이 가능하리라 보여 진다. 첨가하여 제조한 curd yoghurt는 저장성과 관능적인 면에서 우수한 상품적 가치가 인정되는 새로운 기능성 신제품의 개발에 기여할 수 있을 것으로 사료되었다. 여자의 경우 0.8이상이 되어서 심혈관계 질환의 위험 범위에 속하는 수준이었다. 삼두근의 두겹 두께는 남녀 각각 $20.2\pm8.58cm,\;22.2\pm4.40mm$으로 남녀간에 유의한 차이는 없었다. 조사대상자의 식습관 상태는 전체 대상자의 $84.4\%$가 대부분이 하루 세끼 식사를 규칙적으로 하고 있었으며 식사속도는 허겁지겁 빨리 섭취하는 경우가 남자는 $31.0\%$, 여자는 $21.4\%$로 나타났고 이들을 제외한 나머지 사람들은 보통 속도 혹은 충분한 시간을 가지고 식사를 하였다. 평소 식사량은 조금 적게 혹은 적당하게 섭취하는 사람이 대부분이었으며 남자가 여자보다는 배부르게 먹는 경 향이 유의적으로 높았다(p<0.05). 식사는 혼자 하는 경우가 남자

A Hybrid Index Allocation Scheme Considering both Energy Efficiency and Data Access Frequencies in Mobile Broadcast Environments (브로드캐스트환경에서 에너지효율과 데이터접근빈도를 동시에 고려한 하이브리드 인덱스배 치기법)

  • 이동 컴퓨팅 환경에서 다수의 이동 클라이언트들에게 데이터를 전달할 때는 클라이언트들의 동시 데이터 접근을 지원하는 브로드캐스트 기법을 사용하면 무선 채널 대역폭의 협소함과 클라이언트 측의 에너지 제약과 같은 단점을 해결할 수 있다. 기존 기법들은 클라이언트의 데이터에 대한 접근빈도(access frequencies)와 클라이언트의 에너지 효율(energy efficiency)을 동시에 고려하지 않았다. 따라서 원하는 데이터가 올 때까지 계속해서 채널을 들어야 함으로 인해 에너지 소비를 많이 하거나, 데이터를 얻을 때까지 추가한 많은 양의 정보에 따른 지연이 발생하는 단점이 있다. 본 논문에서는 클라이언트의 에너지 절약을 위한 tuning time을 최소화하고 실제 데이터를 얻을 때까지 소요되는 access time의 효율을 높이기 위해 데이터의 접근빈도와 에너지 효율을 동시에 고려하는 HIDAF: Hybrid Index considering Data Access Frequencies 기법을 제한한다. 제안하는 기법은 트리기반 기법과 해싱기반 기법을 함께 적용하여 구성한 인덱스를 브로드캐스트 주기에 배치한다. HIDAF 기법은 데이터 접근빈도를 고려한 트리기반 인덱스를 배치함으로써 데이터를 얻기 위한 클라이언트들의 평균 access time을 줄일 수 있고, 이러한 인덱스에 해싱기반 기법을 추가함으로써 클라이언트의 에너지 효율을 최소화하는 새로운 브로드캐스팅 기법이다. The Study of Muscle Strength and Dietary Quality of the Korean Elderly: Based on the 2014-2018 Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (한국 노인의 근력과 식사의 질에 대한 연구: 2014-2018년 국민건강영양조사 자료를 이용하여)

  • This study evaluated the dietary habits and dietary quality of the Korean elderly according to muscle strength status. This study was conducted on the elderly aged over 65 years who participated in the 2014-2018 Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey. Subjects were classified into the normal muscle strength group(n=2,000) and the low muscle strength group(n=1,273) according to the handgrip strength. There was a significant difference in general characteristics, diet habits, and health behavior according to the muscle strength status. The normal muscle strength group had a higher total score of KHEI and a subtotal score of 「adequacy」 items. But there was not significant difference in the 「moderation」 items. For the 「balance of energy intake」 items, the normal muscle strength group had a higher subtotal score than the low muscle strength group only in among women. The prevalence of low muscle strength decreased in the highest quartile of the adjusted KHEI total score(p for trend=0.08). As a result of this study, it was found that KHEI was significantly associated with muscle strength. This study result can be used to provide dietary guidelines for the improvement of muscle strength in the elderly based on each item of KHEI and sex.
