Interactive 3D Visualization of Ceilometer Data (운고계 관측자료의 대화형 3차원 시각화)

  • We present interactive methods for visualizing the cloud height data and the backscatter data collected from ceilometers in the three-dimensional virtual space. Because ceilometer data is high-dimensional, large-size data associated with both spatial and temporal information, it is highly improbable to exhibit the whole aspects of ceilometer data simply with static, two-dimensional images. Based on the three-dimensional rendering technology, our visualization methods allow the user to observe both the global variations and the local features of the three-dimensional representations of ceilometer data from various angles by interactively manipulating the timing and the view as desired. The cloud height data, coupled with the terrain data, is visualized as a realistic cloud animation in which many clouds are formed and dissipated over the terrain. The backscatter data is visualized as a three-dimensional terrain which effectively represents how the amount of backscatter changes according to the time and the altitude. Our system facilitates the multivariate analysis of ceilometer data by enabling the user to select the date to be examined, the level-of-detail of the terrain, and the additional data such as the planetary boundary layer height. We demonstrate the usefulness of our methods through various experiments with real ceilometer data collected from 93 sites scattered over the country.

A Study on the Design of Tool Horn for Cutting Converged with Theoretical Method and FEA (이론적 방법과 유한요소해석이 융합된 커팅용 공구 혼의 설계에 관한 연구)

  • In this study, the theoretical method and the finite element analysis were designed in parallel to fabricate basic research data on the production of tool horn for cutting machine with ultrasonic vibration energy. In order to perform high-performance ultrasonic cutting, it is necessary to vibrate only with longitudinal vibration instead of transverse vibration. In order to efficiently transmit the mechanical vibration energy, the maximum amplitude should be generated at the output portion. Therefore, the tool horn must be designed so that the excitation frequency of the oscillator and the natural frequency of the tool horn are the same. In order to design the resonance of the tool horn, there are a theoretical approach using the one-dimensional wave equation and a method of reflecting the finite element analysis result to the design model. In this study, the approximate dimensions of the tool horn are first determined through the one- Based on the results of the finite element analysis, the optimal model was selected and reflected in the final shape of the tool horn. We will use this information as the basic data of actual tool horn for cutting, and will compare the production and experimental data with the contents of this research.

High-resolution 3D Object Reconstruction using Multiple Cameras (다수의 카메라를 활용한 고해상도 3차원 객체 복원 시스템)

  • This paper presents a new system which produces high resolution 3D contents by capturing multiview images of an object using multiple cameras, and estimating geometric and texture information of the object from the captured images. Even though a variety of multiview image-based 3D reconstruction systems have been proposed, it was difficult to generate high resolution 3D contents because multiview image-based 3D reconstruction requires a large amount of memory and computation. In order to reduce computational complexity and memory size for 3D reconstruction, the proposed system predetermines the regions in input images where an object can exist to extract object boundaries fast. And for fast computation of a visual hull, the system represents silhouettes and 3D-2D projection/back-projection relations by chain codes and 1D homographies, respectively. The geometric data of the reconstructed object is compactly represented by a 3D segment-based data format which is called DoCube, and the 3D object is finally reconstructed after 3D mesh generation and texture mapping are performed. Experimental results show that the proposed system produces 3D object contents of $800{\times}800{\times}800$ resolution with a rate of 2.2 seconds per frame.

  • 구조물의 동적부하에 대한 동적변형 응답을 정확히 예측하고, Over Design이나 Under Design이 아닌 합리적인 설계방안의 개발은 중요한 과제이다. 동적강도해석이나 소음 승차감과 같은 진동 및 충격에 기인하는 제반 문제를 복잡한 구조물을 대상으로 합리적으로 처리하기 위한 Dynamic Design Analysis는 높은 신뢰성의 추구와 더불어 필요불가결한 기술이 되고 있다. 동적해석 방법으로는 현재 유한요소법이 널리 사용되고 있으며 여러 종류의 범용 프로그램들이 보급되어 있는 실정이다. 그러나 특히 동적문제에 있어서는 형상이나 거동이 복잡한 구조물의 경우, 또는 차량의 차체와 같이 많은 장착물이 부착된 경우에는 유한요소법의 적용이 곤란하여, 지금까지 대처할 수 있는 유용한 방법이 없었다. 따라서 비교적 용이하고 간단하게 적용가능한 진동실험을 기초로 한 구조물의 동적 응답해석 및 설계 방안의 개발이 필요하다. 본 연구에서는 진동시험으로 얻어진 부분구조물의 응답특성과 결합특성으로부터 결합 후의 응답특성을 예측할 수 있는 방법을 전달함수합성이론을 기초로하여 프로그래밍 package화 한다. 그리고 평판구조물에 대하여 진동시험과 컴퓨터 시뮬레이션을 통하여 개발된 방법의 타당성을 검증한다. 또한 실제 차량에서 차체만의 진동시험과 엔진의 자유진동시험에 의한 시험데이터로부터 차체와 엔진이 마운트 결합된 후의 진동특성을 예측한다. 진동시험시에 입력과 출력에 노이즈가 필연적으로 혼입되어 주파수응답함수의 크기(magnitude)와 위상(phase)을 왜곡시킨다. 특히 위상의 왜곡은 복소수연산을 하는 전달함수합성법의 결과에 중요한 영향을 미치게 된다. 본 연구에서는 데이타 획득시 입력과 출력의 시간지연으로 생기는 위상왜곡을 보정하는 방법을 제시하고, 그 개선 정도를 조사한다.는 소견의 확실도로서 가능성을 표현한 것이다. 예를 들면, 진동진폭 스펙트럼상에 2X 성분이 상당히 크게 나타나 정렬불량의 가능성이 0.7 정도라고 판정하는 것 등은 이러한 수치적진리치를 이용하는 방법이다. 그러나 상기의 수치적 표현만으로는 확실도를 한개의 수치로서 대표하게 하는 것은 진단의 정밀도에 문제가 있을 것으로 생각된다. 따라서 언어적진리치가 도입되어 [상당히 확실], [확실], [약간 확실] 등의 언어적인 표현을 이용하여 애매성을 표현하게 되었다. 본 논문에서는 간이진단 결과로부터 추출된 애매한 진단결과중에서 가장 가능성이 높은 이상원인을 복수로 선정하고, 여러 종류의 수치화할 수 없는 언어적(linguistic)인 정보ㄷㄹ을 if-then 형식의 퍼지추론으로 종합하는 회전기계의 이상진단을 위한 정밀진단 알고리즘을 제안하고 그 유용성을 검토한다. 존재하여도 모우드 변수들을 항상 정확하게 구할 수 있으며, 또한 알고리즘의 안정성이 보장된 것이다.. 여기서는 실험실 수준의 평 판모델을 제작하고 실제 현장에서 이루어질 수 있는 진동제어 구조물에 대 한 동적실험 및 FRS를 수행하는 과정과 동일하게 따름으로써 실제 발생할 수 있는 오차나 error를 실험실내의 차원에서 파악하여 진동원을 있는 구조 물에 대한 진동제어기술을 보유하고자 한다. 이용한 해마의 부피측정은 해마경화증 환자의 진단에 있어 육안적인 MR 진단이 어려운 제한된 경우에만 실제적 도움을 줄 수 있는 보조적인 방법으로 생각된다.ofile whereas relaxivity at high field is not affected by τS. Evaluation of Skin Friction to Large Size Pneumatic Caissons (대형 뉴매틱케이슨의 주면마찰력 산정)

  • In this study, skin friction evaluation methods developed f3r deep foundation system were investigated and a method that can properly evaluate the skin friction of large size pneumatic caisson was proposed. Especially, based on Hong Won-Pyo's method, new technique (Kn parameter method) was suggested for estimation of the skin friction. The $\lambda$ method used widely to pile foundation was also investigated fur the applicability of estimation of the skin friction of large size pneumatic caisson. To do this, the data measured from the pneumatic caissons installed as a substructure of main tower in the suspension bridge part of Youngjong Grand Bridge were utilized. The data show that the skin friction is proportional to the rate of sinking, and the skin friction distribution with depth is similar to parabolic type rather straight line, which is a type generally observed in pile foundation. The skin frictions predicted by the Kn and $\lambda$ methods were plotted with the measured data for comparisons. It is cleary shown that the skin frictions estimated by the proposed Kn parameter method are well matched with the measured data. That is, for the large size pneumatic caisson having wide base, the new technique developed from Hong Won-Pyo's method is more suitable for estimation of the skin friction rather than the $\lambda$ method.

  • The design is presented for a SATCOM antenna capable of simultaneous multi-band (X/Ku/Ka-Band) communications without replacement of feed horns or change of other parts in the application as a ground satellite terminal for large data transfer. The antenna is the offset configuration and consists of a dual-band(X/Ka-band) feed horn, a single-band(Ku-band) feed horn, a frequency selective surface(FSS) sub-reflector and a parabolic main-reflector. The antenna has a main reflector defining a prime focus and a frequency selective surface sub-reflector defining an image focus. A dual-band feed and a single-band feed are provided at each of the prime focus and image focus. The antenna is designed using 3D EM simulator and the gains measured in X/Ku/Ka-band of the complete antenna assembly is more than 31.6dBi, 36.8dBi, 40.8dBi, and the cross polarization is 21.7dB, 26.6dB, 25.2dB, respectively.

A Study on the Penetration Characteristics of a Steel Fragment Impacting on the Target Plate of Aluminum 2024 (알루미늄 2024 표적에 대한 HE 탄두 파편의 관통 특성 연구)

  • We have studied the damage mechanism of a metallic thin plate by the highly energetic fragments generated from high explosive(HE) warhead. The penetration process has presumed that the velocity of a fragment is in the range of 350 m/s to 3353 m/s, the thickness of Aluminum 2024 target plate is in the range of 1 mm~6.3 mm thick. The mass of fragment with hemisphere nose shape is in the range of 0.32 g to 16 g. The analytical solution for penetration process has been derived by using the report of the project THOR. The results of analysis implied that the closed forms by an exponentially decay function well fit the change of the ballistic limit velocity, loss velocity and loss mass of fragment as the mass of fragment and the thickness of target plate increase.

  • C-ITS(Cooperative-Intelligent Transportation System) provides services that require strict real-time such as forward collision warning, road safety service and emergency stop. WAVE(Wireless Access in Vehicular Environments), a core technology of C-ITS, is a technology designed for high-speed driving. However, in order to provide stable communication service by applying to real road environment, various performance tests of real vehicular environment are required. In the real road environment, WAVE communication performance is influenced by the surrounding environment such as moving vehicle, road shape and topography. Especially, when the vehicle is moving at high speed, the traveling position according to the speed of the vehicle, The surrounding environment changes rapidly. Such changes are factors affecting the communication performance, therefore a system and methods for analyzing them are needed. In this paper, we propose the configuration and test method of an effective performance evaluation system under high-speed driving and describe the results of analyzing the communication performance based on the data measured through the actual vehicle test.

  • The most decisive factor of major sources of a helicopter is the main rotor system and the rotor-induced vibration is one of the technical challenges which should be resolved to ensure comfort for crews and passengers. Passive vibration reduction devices are adopted in conventional helicopters and several types of passive devices are also used in Surion. In recent years, foreign helicopter manufactures have increasingly applied the application of AVCS (active vibration control system) because of their superior performance with lower weight compared to passive device. In addition to weight reduction, AVCS has advantages maintaining its performance over aircraft configuration changes and flight condition changes. The technology demonstration program was performed in order to validate the performance of AVCS when applied to Surion, and optimization process for finding optimal configuration of sensors and actuators. Optimal configuration was produced using ground and flight test data, and its performance was evaluated and compared with flight test result.

  • In this research, we investigate wet-etching properties of GaAs in $NH_4OH-H_2O_2-H_2O$, and develop the fabrication method of GaAs microstructures with rectangular cross section using (001) GaAs substrate. For obtaining wet-etching properties with respect to crystallographic orientation, the etch rates and cross-section etch profiles of (001) GaAs with 16 different compositions and the undercut rates with 5 different compositions are measured using $NH_4OH-H_2O_2-H_2O$ mixed solutions. From these experimental data, a new GaAs micromachining method in bulk (001) GaAs is proposed, and used to fabricate a released microbridges with a rectangular cross section. The developed GaAs micromachining method can be very useful for low-loss, highly-tunable capacitors for RF components and for integration with GaAs optical components.
