  • The purpose of this study is to provide the basic data necessary to improve the planning and operations for an effective on-the-job training (OJT) by analyzing educational effects and deciding on a career for employment (DCE) effects of OJT based on the perceptions of employees from the specialized high school (SHS). The survey was performed with 301 employees who are working in the industrial institutions including the OJT, among the nation's specialized technical high school graduates. 240 questionnaires were analyzed. The major results of this study are as following. First, the effects of OJT are as following. The OJT have educational effects such as the improvement of job ability and adaptability to workplace, refinement of working life, and career guidance. However, the OJT almost don't have educational effects for contents in relation to the majors in SHS. The OJT had basic DCE effects on graduates, and consistently have had them since they graduated from SHS. Second, the difference of OJT effects by employees' background variables is as following. By the gender, the OJT have more educational effects and DCE effects on male than female. By the types of career decision before taking part in the OJT, the OJT has more educational effects and DCE effects on employees with a high degree of career decision. By the working life satisfaction, the higher working life satisfaction, the higher OJT effects. Therefore, the OJT should be operated to make students feel satisfied with the OJT in order to correspond with the purpose of specialized high school - cultivating talent in specific areas.

  • To qualitative improvement in addition to the quantitative growth of field placement, efforts to reduce short-term (4 weeks) and mid-term professional practice (8 weeks) and to increase the proportion of long-term term professional practice (12 weeks or more) are increasing at university sites. There are the problems: the absence of systematic and specialized field placement curriculum of the short-term and mid-term professional practice, the participation of university field placement increases, companies do not prefer to participate in its program and students hesitate to apply to long-term practice due to their major. In order to solve these problems, this paper proposes the IPBP(Industry Problem Based professional Practice) based on Gyeongbuk K University which the students solve the company's difficulties during the field placement with their professor if need. In order to build a win-win field practice culture with participating companies, we suggest that the IPBP solution field practice presented in this paper is one of the good models.

  • This paper presents a concept of training coursework for engineers in cooperation with the industry combining system, comparing Korea with France. The students, after first two years in a university for the foundation/basic courses, will be centered in the industry, rather than at an academic institution, where field training engineering coursework will be offered in structured or capstone design(problem based learning) formats through the industry. This study on the improvement of the concept has several advantages including the followings ; 1) Industry hiring local-area students who have the potential to be long-term employees; 2) Industry's immediate access to employees with developing engineering skills; 3) On-the-job training reduced industry training costs after graduation; 4) More effective learning through observing complex operations; 5) Students and industry input for continuous improvement of the curriculum; 6) Greater amenability on the part of industry to actively participate in research and development; 7) Increasing in the flow of real research problems for engineering. Finally, the implications for student quality, accreditation, assessment of partnership, academic freedom, and fundraising for scholarships and researches are discussed briefly.

To this end, the survey was conducted on university students who participated in the field practice. An analysis of 193 data showed that the effectiveness of field practice and the suitability of field practice companies were factors that increased the ability of college students to explore their career path. In addition, individual initiative was analyzed as a parameter, which strengthens the effectiveness of the practice and the suitability of the practical company on the ability of the career exploration. Universities should find quality practice companies and maintain the right field practice, and need to come up with pre-education programs that can improve career-related psychological capabilities.

For this purpose, interview data were collected from 28 pre-service school librarian teacher (6 teachers' colleges, 14 taking teaching qualification courses, and 8 graduate school of education) who participated in educational practicum in school libraries, and a research method that combines qualitative analysis techniques with text network analysis was applied. The results of the study showed that pre-service school librarian teacher believe that educational practicum can prepare them for various field experiences and cultivate their ability to cope with situations they will encounter in the future. Through qualitative inquiry, we were able to identify their perceptions of school field practicum as a whole, their perceptions of the school field practicum, and their perceptions of educational service activities. Based on this, to improve the current problems of educational practice, we suggested expanding the period of school internship program, distributing the time, establishing a full-time practice system, having continuous discussions with field teachers, and developing a systematic school field practicum.
