Development of Omnidirectional Object Detecting Technology for a Safer Excavator (굴삭기 작업영역의 전방위 장애물 탐지기술 개발)

  • The demand for the development of automated construction equipments is gradually increasing to deal with the current problems of construction technology, such as a lack of experienced workers, the aging of engineers, safety issues, etc. In particular, earth work such as excavation is very machine-dependent, and there has been a great deal of research on the development of an intelligent excavator, which involves great safety concerns. Thus, the objective of this study is to develop the technology to enhance the safety of intelligent excavation systems by developing an omnidirectional object detection technology for the intelligent excavator and applying it to a user-friendly system. The existing literature was reviewed, and the function of various sensor technologies was investigated and analyzed. Then, the best laser sensor was selected for an experiment to determine its effectiveness. An omnidirectional object detection algorithm was developed for a user interface program, and this can be used as the fundamental technology for the development of a safety management system for an intelligent excavator.

Algorithm for Identifying Highway Horizontal Alignment using GPS/INS Sensor Data (GPS/INS 센서 자료를 이용한 도로 평면선형인식 알고리즘 개발)

  • Geometric information is a key element for evaluating traffic safety and road maintenance. This study developed an algorithm to identify horizontal alignment using global positioning system(GPS) and inertial navigation system(INS) data. Roll and heading information extracted from GPS/INS were utilized to classify horizontal alignment into tangent, circular curve, and transition curve. The proposed algorithm consists of two components including smoothing for eliminating outlier and a heuristic classification algorithm. A genetic algorithm(GA) was adopted to calibrate parameters associated with the algorithm. Both freeway and rural highway data were used to evaluate the performance of the proposed algorithm. Promising results, which 90.48% and 88.24% of classification accuracy were obtainable for freeway and rural highway respectively, demonstrated the technical feasibility of the algorithm for the implementation.

On-Site Survey of Satisfaction with Job Environments and Training Situation of the Korean Sewing Technicians (한국 봉제기술자의 직무 환경 만족도와 교육 실태 파악을 위한 현장 조사)

  • Domestic sewing industry is showing signs of a redevelopment and the demands of the sewing technician are gradually increasing. This study would investigate the opinions of sewing technicians about job environments and training situation in order to solve the shortage of sewing manpower. As a result of a survey with 100 sewing technicians, of the pay systems, the salary system showed the highest satisfaction and preference. Their satisfaction with pay was low. There was a tendency that they work on Saturdays and national holidays, and their satisfaction with the number of holidays was low. Most worked for 10 to 11 hours per day, and they showed low satisfaction with their working hours. There were no places to rest in the company. They showed law satisfaction with the air and vent. The sewing technicians were concerned about respiratory and musculoskeletal diseases because of the working and workplace environment and needed places to rest, vent facilities, and spacious and comfortable spaces. The total lead-time that they were sent to the field as skilled workers was 1 to less than 2 years; they received training from seniors; and the training period, mostly, was 6 months to 2 years. Most of the sewing technicians surveyed had the expertise, did not feel the necessity of retraining related to their tasks, and did not have any willingness to take reorientation due to a lack of time even with their tasks.

  • It is necessary to develop a system to judge inferiority of goods to minimize the loss at small factories in which produces various kinds of goods with small amounts. That system can be developed based on HTM theory. HTM is a model to apply the operation principles of the neocortex in human brain to the machine learning. We have to build the trained HTM network to use the HTM-based machine learning system. It requires the knowledge for the HTM theory. This paper presents the design and implementation of the training system to support the development of HTM networks which recognize the molding parts to judge its badness. This training system allows field technicians to train the HTM network with high accuracy without the knowledge of the HTM theory. It also can be applied to any kind of the HTM-based judging systems for molding parts.

  • Concrete and steel are essential structural materials in the construction. But, concrete, different from steel, consists of many materials and is affected by many factors such as properties of materials, site environmental situations, and skill of constructors. Concrete have two kinds of properties, immediately knowing properties such as slump, air contents and time dependent one like strength. Therefore, concrete mixes depend on experiences of experts. However, at point of time using High Performance Concrete, new method is wanted because of more ingredients like mineral and chemical admixtures and lack of data. Artificial Neural Networks(ANN) are a mimic models of human brain to solve a complex nonlinear problem. They are powerful pattern recognizers and classifiers, also their computing abilities have been proven in the fields of prediction, estimation and pattern recognition. Here, among them, the back propagation network and radial basis function network ate used. Compositions of high-performance concrete mixes are eight components(water, cement, fine aggregate, coarse aggregate, fly ash, silica fume, superplasticizer and air-entrainer). Compressive strength, slump, and air contents are measured. The results show that neural networks are proper tools to minimize the uncertainties of the design of concrete mixtures.

Development and Application of the Assessment System of TBM Tunnelling Procedure (TBM 터널 공정 분석시스템의 개발 및 적용)

  • Four assessment systems for planning and evaluation of TBM tunnelling are discussed, and their characteristics and input data are analyzed. Two of the systems are determined to be adequate for post-evaluation of TBM performance because the time, such as repair time, downtime, installation time and transport time, must be included for calculations. The others are adequate for pre-planning because the basic data of the systems consist of only the basic properties of rocks and rock masses, and the specification of TBM. In order to apply these assessment systems, a number of equations, graphs and charts are generally required, which seems to be very inconvenient and complicated. In this study, therefore, a user-friendly program operated on Windows system is developed, and each system can be selected by the corresponding input data. It will be possible fer tunnel engineers to select a system according to their objectives and available input data, and to apply the system to TBM tunnel project.

Building of Integrated Web-GIS System for National Groundwater Data Management (지하수 정보관리체계 고찰 및 Web-GIS 기반의 국가지하수정보지도 구축 모형)

  • The main objective of this study is to develop a web-based Geographic Information System (GIS) application, IGIS(Integrated Groundwater Information Service System), for efficient management of groundwater data. This integrated system includes various groundwater measurements, monitoring data, well data, hydrogeochemical data, hydrogeological maps and diversely analyzed results including time series analysis data for water levels and quality. It will be used efficiently for local government officers to manage groundwater within their districts and also for drillers and investigators to develop wells and assess groundwater conditions. This web-based GIS system was implemented firstly for Cheonan and Daegu city. As a result, the system makes the efficient management, distribution and utilization of groundwater data possible by web-based GIS technology.

재생아스팔트 포장의 구조설계 기술

  • 포장구조체에서 요구되는 강도를 갖게 하는 구조 설계의 방법은 경험적 절차부터 반역학적 절차까지 발전되어 왔다. 재생 가열아스팔트혼합물이 기존의 가열아스팔트혼합물(HMA)과 비교하여 비슷하거나 때에 따라 더 좋은 성능을 가져오므로, AASHTO설계지침서에서는 본질적으로 재생(recycled) HMA 재료와 신생(virgin) HMA 재료간의 차이가 없다고 기술하고 있으며, 기존 HMA 재료에 사용되는 덧씌우기설계법의 구조회복 분석방법(structural rehabilitation analysis method)을 재생포장설계에도 권장하고 있다. 재생 가열아스팔트의 설계를 위한 AASHTO 방법은 설계교통량, 교통량 및 수행능력예측의 신뢰수준, 공용기간, 그리고 포장상태 평가지수에 의하여 결정된 포장구조체에서 요구되는 포장두께지수(SN)에 기초한다. 포장두께지수(SN)는 포장층 두께, 상대강도계수, 각 층의 배수조건들의 곱의 조합으로서 나타내어질 수 있다. 덧씌우기로 간주될 수 있는 재생된 층의 포장두께지수(SN)는 기존 포장에서의 포장두께지수와 보강된 포장에서 요구되는 포장두께지수의 차이에 의하여 계산되어질 수 있다. 상대강도계수의 값은 AASHTO 설계지침에 명시되어 있다. AI 방법은 교통량, 노상의 회복탄성계수, 그리고 설계두께를 계산하기 위한 표층과 기층의 종류를 사용한다. 이 방법은 재생된 가열혼합물질과 기존의 가열혼합물질과는 거의 비슷한 성능을 나타낸다고 본다. 또다른 AI 방법에 의하면 재생된 층은 덧씌우기층이라고 간주하고, 현재의 포장두께와 요구되어지는 포장두께 사이의 차를 이용하여 재생될 층의 두께를 산정한다. 소요되는 덧씌우기 두께는 포장의 현장 상태지수(condition rating)와 각 종류에 따른 포장체와 포장재료가 아스팔트 콘크리트층의 등가두께로 전환되어 나타나는 방법에 근거하여 결정될 수 있다. 또 다른 방법은 포장체 각 층의 물성과 하중을 이용한 컴퓨터 프로그램에 의하여 산정된 하중-변형 응답에 의한 설계 방법을 포함한다. 이런 방법들에서는 포장체는 탄성이나 점탄성층 위에서 탄성이나 점탄성 거동을 보인다고 가정한다. 재생 상온혼합물에서의 AASHTO 설계 방법은 가열혼합물의 설계방법과 유사하다. 그러나, 재생 상온혼합물에서의 상대강도계수는 시공방법에 좌우되므로, 기술자의 판단을 근거로 하여 결정되어져야 한다. AI방법에서는 포장구조체를 다층탄성구조라고 보고, 노상의 강도와 설계 교통량을 근거로 요구되는 포장두께를 결정한다. 재생 상온혼합물 기층의 두께는 재생 상온혼합물 기충 위에서 가열아스팔혼합물에 대하여 산정된 덧씌우기 두께를 이용하여 결정할 수 있다. 아스팔트 표면의 재생은 기존 포장의 구조적 능력을 정상적으로 개선할 수 없으므로, 표면 재생의 두께를 설계하는 방법은 없다. 그러나, 임의의 덧씌우기 두께는 기존의 덧씌우기 설계법에 기초하여 산정 할 수 있다. 만약 덧씌우기가 승차감만을 개선시킨다고 여겨진다면, 혼합물에서 사용되어지는 최대 골재 크기에 기초한 최소 두께를 결정할 수 있다.

  • Local government has constructed GIS DB for efficient business achievement and effective management of complex city facilities and has been developing and utilizing application systems, such as Underground Facility Management System Road Management System and so on. However, Facility Management System is providing functions for business, but not for GIS DB's maintenance. City facilities GIS DB managed by GIS technical expert collects basic figure and attribute information through survey and field investigation and is constructed via complex process, such as structurize editing etc. So it has been concerned that the update and confidence of CIS DB can be lower if a business man who does not have enough experiences about Facility Management System operates it by himself. Therefore, functions that enable business users to operate Facility Management System easily should be provided.

An Experimental Study on Characteristics of Earth Pressure Distribution for Segmental Reinforced Earth Wall (블록형 보강토 옹벽의 토압 특성 연구)

  • Retaining walls with reinforced earth have been constructed around the world. The use of reinforced earth is a recent development in the design and construction of earth-retaining structure. It is believed that reinforced retaining wall has some advantages which make construction quite simple basically. It wilt take short construction time relatively, comparing, fur example with reinforced-concrete retaining wall. In addition, low price and easy construction will be good attractive points in practical point of view. In this study, five field-tests monitoring data for lateral pressures on geogrid-reinforced retaining wall have been compiled and evaluated. Based on field-tests it is found that horizontal displacements of the facing was measured to be about 0.19∼0.76% and that the maximum tensile strains of reinforcement was evaluated to be about 0.66∼1.98%. The maximum tensile strains, measured from each site, do not reach 5% of the practical allowable strain of the geogrid. And also it is found that the lateral pressure distributions of reinforced-earth retaining wall are close to a trapezoid shape like a flexible retaining wall system, instead of a theoretical triangular shape.
