  • In regard to the growth and development of Innocity from improvements in Innocity settlement environment, this research examines the level of satisfaction of Innocity settlement environment to propose a political implications. We deduced the main cause of settlement environment satisfaction by performing logistic regression on the public institution employees level of satisfaction in respect to 4 Innocity characteristics?six physical properties, three social properties, five facility properties, three economical properties?and three general questions. As a result, the greatest factor of settlement environment was physical properties, such as natural environment and scenery, residential environment, availability of diverse uses in the surrounding area, and access to public transportation. In addition, social characteristics (relationships with neighbors), and facilities (availability of industrial, research and educational facilities) were also significant. This research provided political implications for future Innocity settlement environment improvements despite limiting factors such as residents' perception and limited surveyed sites.

  • Literature on cluster theory and cluster policy has been focused on the differences between mature industrial areas and innovative regions. Mature industrial areas are described as possessing little competence for innovation and lacking entrepreneurship to be transferred an innovative region, say, an innovative cluster. Old industrial regions are, however, rich in social capital, local networking, and regional institutionalization. This paper compares Buchon's mature industries with Daejon's bio-sector new start-ups in terms of innovative potential, socio-economic and cultural-economic mechanisms. Policy implications such as networking and business support systems on the differential types of industrial regions are offered.

  • The purpose of this study is to identify the types for open innovation of SMEs considering strategic- culture mixed typology and environmental dynamism. The analysis results of 182 SMEs classified into 4 groups are as follows. First, type PD had a positive effect on innovation performance in both in-bound and out-bound innovation and had improved performance through in-bound innovation in a dynamic technical environment. While DH had no significant effect on both innovations. Second, PH and DD, strategy-culture mismatched types, had a single effect of innovation that affected performance. No moderating effects of environmental dynamism had been shown in types PH, DD, DH. SMEs that aim for open innovation should strive to improve performance by aligning change-oriented strategy with creative and challenging culture.

  • Environmental deterministic perspectives and resource-based perspectives have different perceptions on the factors that determine corporate performance. While the environmental deterministic viewpoint sees the external environment as having a significant impact on corporate performance. On the other hand, the resource-compliant viewpoint believes that it is important to obtain the necessary resources through appropriate decision-making in order to overcome the uncertainty of the environment. Although the external environmental impact on corporate performance is important, the study is in the position that efforts within the company to cope with environmental uncertainty are necessary. This study identified the role that factors within the company play in the process of affecting the external environment of the company's performance. This study looked at whether the CEO's innovation direction plays an mediating role in the market environment favorability affecting sales growth rate. The data was collected using a survey method. We collected data from 138 small and medium-sized manufacturing companies in Gyeongin area. The collected data was analyzed using SPSS 22 packages. According to the analysis, market environment favorability positively affects sales growth rate, and the CEO's innovation direction plays a mediating role between market environment favorability and sales growth rate. The results of this study showed that depending on the market environment, the CEO's interest and willingness to innovate, present a vision for innovation, and institutionalize innovation activities increase management performance through innovation.

  • This article analyzed the direct impact of resource inputs on business performances of Korean environmental companies conducting R&D, and the mediation effects of product-, process-, organization-, marketing-innovations between resource inputs and business performances. We conducted the mediation analysis using SPSS and Process Macro, based on a survey data from the Korean environmental companies. The article found that ① resource inputs have directly had a positive impact on business performances, and ② innovations have mediated them. ③ But among 4 types of innovations, the only mediation effect of organization-innovation has been verified, and the others have not appeared. Considering the above results, the following policy implications can be suggested. ① It is necessary to reinforce related policies so that companies can improve business performances through innovation. ② The government needs to carry out the prudent supporting policies so that innovations in product, process, and marketing can lead to business performances. This article has the limitation of using the survey data, and needs further researches on the sectoral system of innovation for Korean environmental industry.

  • Business model innovation creates differentiated value to customers by transforming various elements of doing business. Rather than focusing singularly on either the external or internal environment, the business model innovation aims to identify the optimal combination of internal resources, competence, and the external factors, such as customer's needs and new opportunity. However, due to lack of clear definition of business model innovation, and inability to generate company's core business model, business model innovation has been difficult for companies to lead next growth. This paper reviews existing definitions of business model innovation and explore existing types of business model innovation and timing of business model innovation through two case studies. Concept of business model innovation which we identify, is composed of value proposition, value creation through value chains and networks, and profit model innovation. Finally, we demonstrates that already successful businesses can also create new values through business model innovation and adaptive advantage, even in a rapidly changing market environment.

  • Under the environment uncertainty, inno-biz firms are likely to enter into new market with their manager's enthusiasm, know-how, and innovative idea. Therefore, the environment uncertainty would be a new opportunity for their managers with entrepreneurship. The inno-biz firms have limitation on resources that they can utilize, but the industrial infrastructure of the regions that they are located in can be a factor overcoming the limitation of utilizing resources. Using inno-biz firms, this study presents a research model with the effects of environment uncertainty, industrial infra structure, and entrepreneurship on competitive performance. This study examined the relationship showed by the research model, and found the significant relationship by using SEM. And this study found the mediating effect of environment uncertainty, industrial infrastructure, and entrepreneurship on innovative capability. Research results, implications and limitations of this study are provided in conclusion of this study.

  • This study empirically verified the effect of environmental dynamism on changes in the dynamic and operational capabilities of an enterprise and its innovation performance. With the aim of quantification, the concept and definition of each capability were defined as a hierarchical structure of dynamic and operational capabilities. Five research hypotheses were established through prior research on dynamic capabilities, operational capabilities, innovation performance, and environmental dynamism. For empirical analysis, the hypotheses were verified based on surveys from 300 Korean manufacturing companies. It was shown that Dynamic capabilities had a positive relationship with operational capabilities and operational capabilities had a positive relationship with innovation performance. And it was shown that operational capabilities had a positive relationship with radical innovation in business groups with high environmental dynamism while operating capabilities had a positive relationship with gradual innovation in business groups with low environmental dynamism. Also, the moderating effect of environmental dynamism was not significant in the relationship with dynamic capabilities on operational capabilities. This study is meaningful in that it lays the groundwork for empirically verifying the dynamic capabilities of an enterprise by embodying its dynamic capabilities and operational capabilities into processes, and verifies the effect of environmental change on its capabilities and innovation performance. And it has implications to suggest how an enterprise should transform its capabilities to sustain its competitive advantage in a rapidly changing environment.
