  • Post-modern period differentiates itself from Modern period in many aspects. One of these is the emphasis on phenomena which are ephemeral and changing. This paper looks at the psychological bases of these expressions of time & change in contemporary design and their affordances on human behavior. It also analyzes the types of time & change design on the basis of the behaviors they afford. This will lead us to the understanding of how the design including time & change expresses the spirit of the age and how it can play positive roles in human psychology.

An Exploratory Study on Regulatory Agencies' Behaviors Responding to Regulatory Resource Constraints (규제자원 제약에 대한 규제기관의 대응행태에 관한 시론적 연구)

  • Regulatory agencies' response to resource constraints is an important issue in terms of regulatory effectiveness, but systematic research is lacking. As an effort to overcome this limitation, this study was to explore behaviors of regulatory agencies in response to resource constraints. Reviewing the precedent studies based on regulatory and organizational theories, the study suggested the potential behaviors of regulatory agencies under resource constraints: changes in regulatory processes, changes in enforcement methods, decoupling, and regulatory delegation and contracting-out. The study also discussed the realistic explanations of the response behaviors partly through the case of marine transportation regulation, and explained the problems that the regulatory agency's behaviors could bring about. Based on the findings, the study suggested that the regulatory framework should be designed to ensure the effectiveness of the regulatory system in consideration of the regulatory agencies' behaviors under resource constraints. The study is expected to contribute to developing a theoretical analysis framework ultimately for an empirical study in the future.

Time Series Analysis of Park Use Behavior Utilizing Big Data - Targeting Olympic Park - (빅데이터를 활용한 공원 이용행태의 시계열분석 - 올림픽공원을 대상으로 -)

  • This study suggests the necessity of behavior analysis as changes to a park environment to reflect user desires can be implemented only by grasping the needs of park users. Online data (blog) were defined as the basic data of the study. After collecting data by 5 - year units, data mining was used to derive the characteristics of the time series behavior while the significance of the online data was verified through social network analysis. The results of the text mining analysis are as follows. First, primary results included 'walking', 'photography', 'riding bicycles'(inline, kickboard, etc.), and 'eating'. Second, in the early days of the collected data, active physical activity such as exercise was the main factor, but recent passive behavior such as eating, using a mobile phone, games, food and drinking coffee also appeared as a new behavior characteristic in parks. Third, the factors affecting the behavior of park users are the changes of various conditions of society such as internet development and a culture of expressing unique personalities and styles. Fourth, the special behaviors appearing at Olympic Park were derived from educational activities such as cultural activities including watching performances and history lessons. In conclusion, it has been shown that people's lifestyle changes and the behavior of a park are influenced by the changes of the various times rather than the original purpose that was intended during park planning and design. Therefore, it is necessary to create an environment tailored to users by considering the main behaviors and influencing factors of Olympic Park. Text mining used as an analytical method has the merit that past data can be collected. Therefore, it is possible to form analysis from a long-term viewpoint of behavior analysis as well as to measure new behavior and value with derived keywords. In addition, the validity of online data was verified through social network analysis to increase the legitimacy of research results. Research on more comprehensive behavior analysis should be carried out by diversifying the types of data collected later, and various methods for verifying the accuracy and reliability of large-volume data will be needed.

  • 본 연구는 필리핀 국제결혼 이주여성들이 한국사회에 적응하는 과정에서 나타나는 초국가적 행태의 원인을 국가, 시장, 사회의 상호작용을 중심으로 고찰하였다. 자본주의적 시장경제체제 하에서 시장의 역할은 확대되고, 국가의 시장통제와 사회보호는 약화되며, 사회는 이러한 환경에 적응하기 위한 선택을 하게 된다. 지구화의 영향으로 교류와 접촉의 기회가 증가함에 따라 국제결혼의 가능성이 다양한 수준으로 확대된 것은 사실이다. 그러나 국제결혼이주를 선택하는 많은 수의 필리핀 여성들은 시장경제체제의 소외계층에 속하며, 이들을 맞이하는 한국 남성들도 많은 경우 국내 결혼시장에서 소외된 계층에 속한다. 이들의 초국가적 행태는 지구화 시대에 국경을 넘나들며 다양한 외국어 능력을 갖추고, 타국 문화에 익숙하며, 품위 있는 직장을 가진 '세계시민'의 그것과는 대조적이다. 오히려 시장경제체제 하에서 소외된 사람들의 생존전략의 하나로 볼 수 있다. 기존의 초국가주의 논의가 이주자 개인의 삶과 출신지의 변화에 초점을 두었다면, 본 연구의 국제결혼이주와 연관된 초국가적 행태는 생존전략으로서의 선택이라는 측면과 정착지 사회의 변화에 초점을 두었다.

An Observational Study on the Driver Behaviours at Long Tangent Sections Followed by Sharp Horizontal Curve (긴 직선-곡선 연결선형에서 운전자 주행행태에 관한 현장조사 연구)

  • Road design should be conformed to the expectancy of drivers. The alignment such as long tangent followed by the sharp horizontal curve should be avoided for the road design consistency. Currently, operating speed profile model is generally used to check the consistency of the successive road alignments. In this model, the hypothesis about the drivers' behaviour on the long tangent followed by the sharp horizontal curve is also included. This study compares the hypothesized drivers' behaviour in the existing operating speed profile model with the actual drivers' behaviour observed at the two lane rural roads. In addition to this, comparison between the acceleration for the vehicles approaching and departing horizontal curves suggested by the foreign research and the value observed at this study was made, From this study, it was concluded that the hypothesis in the existing model was well representing the actual drivers' behaviour. The deceleration for vehicles approaching the horizontal curves was ranged $0.39{\sim}1.06m/s^2$ with the average of $0.66m/s^2$. The average acceleration for the vehicles departing horizontal curves was $0.22m/s^2$.

The Analysis on the Change of Behaviors of Exchange Rate between Two Countries related to FTA and the Prospects (FTA체결 전.후의 환율행태 변화 분석과 전망)

  • This study intends to discuss the influence on behaviors of won/dollar exchange rate after a FTA between Korea and US come into effect. The change of behaviors of won/dollar exchange rate has been looked into concerning other countries who have signed a FTA pact with the US, and these examples were compared with that of Korea so as to find similarities and differences. As a result of analyses, behaviors of exchange rate between FTA-pact countries were showed differently. Volatility and risk premium somewhat decreased after the FTA took effect except for Chile. As for Chile, showing intense volatility, foreign exchange risk premium rather increased. It can be concluded that the relationship between volatility and risk premium of individual exchange rate is established and FTA can influence change of these behaviors of exchange rate depending on the situation of individual country. This study will contribute to offer informations to Korea trading companies related to IT that will have to prepare for the uncertainties of change of exchange rate due to FTA between Korea and US.

Impacts of Mobile Communications on the Space (휴대전화의 이용으로 인한 개인의 공간인식과 행태의 변화)

  • Mobile communications is argued to reshape and activate the existing space by increasing 'mobile communicability en route' and 'real time interaction.' This study is designed to make an empirical analysis on how different the use of a cellular phone is in each different space. In this study, the space is divided into three distinct parts including the private, social and public space. First, spatial micro-coordination and experience of polysemy of place are widely observed in the use of a mobile phone in the private space. Secondly, it is found that a mobile phone contributes to extending the scope of social contacts which in turn compliments the existing social relationship. Moreover, a full-time intimate community that is connected via a mobile phone results in reshaping the social space. Lastly, the study shows that the usage pattern of a mobile phone varies depending on the type of public space. The technological development is envisaged to lead to more demand for the public space while facilitating the use of the public space.

  • The Korea high speed train was launched from Seoul to Busan of 1st construction phase at 1st April, 2004. This huge project will be lead to a great change in korean society such as existing mode choice behavior change and the concentrating on KTX station zone lifestyle pattern's change. With the result to opening high speed train railway was diminished train journey time between Seoul to Busan from 4 hours 10 minute to 2 hours 40 minutes, and has been change population movement, favorite location of corporation headquarters, existing metropolitan transportation pattern and so on. In the middle of this study, I choose to analyse Seoul-Cheonan/Asan stations, Seoul-Deajeon stations, Seoul-Deagu stations, Seoul-Pusan stations. This study have a information to analyse among as like movement of population, status of employee structure, usage of land, movement inland transportation mode. I sure that this study will lead to helpful prediction both 2nd phase of Kyoung-bu high-speed railway and Ho-nam high-speed railway in advance.

Evacuation Behaviors under the Corridor and Stair Width Variations in Evacuation Experiments (복도·계단 폭 변화를 통한 피난실험에서 피난행태에 미치는 영향요인 분석)

  • The aims of this study are to verify the effecting factors in evacuation behavior under the corridor and stair width variation in evacuation experiments at university education facilities. To achieve these purposes, the present conditions of university education facilities were analyzed, and the evacuation experiment settings were established under different width of corridor and stairs. After the experiments, we asked the effecting variables to the evacuation behaviors under the variation of corridor, stair width and density of evacuee. The results of this study are as follows ; First, we found 3 main factors which affecting the evacuation behaviors ; environmental factors on building conditions, psychological factors on evacuee's characteristics and personal factors on evacuee's physical conditions. Second, the environmental factors such as the location of stairs for evacuation, recognition of wayfinding in fire condition are mainly affects the evacuation behaviors, but evacuee behaviors have little relations with fire extinguishing facilities and personality.

  • In this paper, the simulation model of house price is presented on the basis of pricing mechanism between the demand and the supply of apartments in seoul. The algorithm of house price simulation model for calculating the rate of price over time includes feedback control theory. The feedback control theory consists of stock variable, flow variable, auxiliary variable and constant variable. We suggest that the future price of apartment is simulated using mutual interaction variables which are demand, supply, price and parameters among them. In this paper we considers three items which include the behavior of apartment price index, the size of demand and supply, and the forecasting of the apartment price in the future economic scenarios. The proposed price simulation model could be used in public needs for developing a house price regulation policy using financial and non-financial aids. And the quantitative simulation model is to be applied in practice with more specific real data and Powersim Software modeling tool.
