  • Cost-effective mobility management for the roaming mobile users is very important in the seamless services on next-generation wireless network (NGWN). MIPv6 (Mobile IPv6) is one of the mobility management schemes proposed by the IETF (The Internet Engineering Task Force) and various IPv6-based mobility management schemes have been developed. They are directly involved with data transfer from MN (Mobile Node). In this paper, two kinds of schemes in analyzing of mobility management schemes are proposed. The signaling transfer and packet delivery procedures for each mobility management schemes are analyzed, respectively. The signaling cost for mobility management schemes are calculated, and the cost of each protocol are analyzed numerically. In other word, applying the sum of signaling cost and packet delivery cost to each mobility management scheme, their costs are analyzed. Finally, our performance evaluation results that the network-based mobility management scheme shows better performance in terms of overall cost.

  • WMN is highlighted as a next generation network technology due to relatively reasonable cost to be built, compared with the pre-existing wireless network. It also enables same kind of network or even other kind of network to be integrated. Some WMN researches support mobility using router protocol such as AODV and DSR because WMN has the similar features with Ad-hoc network in terms of operation. However, WMN has got different operations with additional functions of multi-interface and internet connect, it can't be a good method to manage efficient mobility any more. This study suggests method to apply MAP function of HMIPv6 to WMN as a way to manage WMN mobility. Through simulation, operation was verified and function was appreciated. Through the results of evaluation, the suggest mobility management had shorter handover delay and packet loss reduced, which improved whole network throughput rate, compared with mobility management using AODV.

  • In this paper, we introduce some issues to implement an agent system to support service mobility in home network environment, and describe detailed design method in terminal as well as server agent. Specifically, we describe user recognition module, signaling message receiving/parsing module of terminal agent and signaling message receiving/parsing module, multimedia switching module, memory management module of server agent. We define several parameters managed in IP sharing device and design binding table structure to support mobility. And we utilize M/M/1/K queueing theory to obtain relations between memory size, blocking probability and memory utilization. From the obtained results, we show that memory size can be predicted in server agent mounted on IP sharing device.

  • Next-Generation ITS environment requires high-speed data packet transmission, security, authentication, and hand-over supportable for driving vehicle on road by installing RSEs and OBUs. Therefore, wireless communication technology for next-generation ITS services are advancing to 200km/h maximum speed supportable, 1km communication radius, minimum 10Mbps hish-speed datarate for multimedia data(such as text, images, movie clips and so on) supportable, high reliability. In this paper, we implemented WAVE communication system which based on IEEE 802.11p PHY/MAC and evaluated that the system meets next-generation ITS environments.

  • The network-based IP mobility solution - Proxy MIPv6 provides a mobile node with local mobility support without requiring MIPv6 functionality of the mobile node by using two principle functional entities, LMA (Local Mobility Anchor) and MAG (Mobile Access Gateway) located in a Proxy MIPv6 domain. Yet, in case that a mobile node moves into a mobile network located in the domain, the mobile node can't receive the local mobility support any more because it can't communicate with the MAG. This paper proposes a scheme to support nested network mobility in a Proxy MIPv6 domain by adding MAG functionality to a mobile router in the mobile network and evaluates the performance of the proposed scheme. Performance analysis shows that the proposed scheme can increase the performance of handover delay, signaling costs, and packet loss ratio.

  • In this paper, look into the applicable communication for unmanned vehicle system development, and make an alternative idea to IEEE 802.11a. "IEEE 802.11a" is differently from "IEEE 802.11b/g"-which used to 2.4GHz ISM band-as it use OFDM modulation system of 5GHz band, as contrasted with "IEEE 802.11b/g" of ISM band, it has advantage against falling-off the capability caused by interfered, and provide maximum 54Mbps communication speed. Made a priority tested Soft Roaming and Hard Roaming to ensure the sound boom of unmanned vehicle in the flat parking. According to the each effect value, Present a most suitable method of applicable to "IEEE 802.11a" to unmanned vehicle system.

  • In this paper, we propose a method that wireless mobile nodes can obtain high throughput in heterogeneous wireless networks using multiple connections and it has low packet loses under handover situation. Currently, a mobile node exchanges data with server for one network connection. The proposed method can use high throughput because it doesn't only use one network(WLAN, 3G, etc.) but also use multiple wireless networks. When mobile nodes move to area to use multiple connection, mobile nodes request heterogeneous wireless networks using multiple connections message from the server and the server transmit packets using multiple connections. Also, this method doesn't disconnect previous networks, so packets losses are decreased. Using the NS-2 simulation, we verify that the propose method enhances throughput.

  • While the cyclic prefix lengths of downlink OFDMA(Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiple Access) systems are determined based on the maximum delay spreads encountered in cellular environments, the guard interval of uplink OFDMA systems should consider the timing offsets of uplink signals as well as the delay spread lengths. Especially in the cases of initial accesses, handovers, and considerable time elapsed without data transmissions between base and mobile stations in a large cell, uplink timing offsets can be large and a very long guard interval length may be required. In order to keep the small size of the cyclic prefix in uplink OFDMA systems, the systems require a method of extending the guard intervals for users with large timing offsets without affecting the cyclic prefix length of the system. This paper proposes a method extending the guard intervals of individual users in uplink OFDMA systems.

  • Nowadays, the multihomed host equipped with multiple network interfaces has been interested research in next generation wireless network, because the mobile users expect that they can be able to access services not only anywhere, at any time and from any network but also simultaneously. This paper addresses the mobility simulation model of the multihomed node for supporting MIPv4 and MIPv6 function in an interworking of Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access (WiMAX) and IEEE 802.11 WLAN. The multihomed node with two air interfaces has been developed based on WiMAX and WLAN workstation node model in simulation software. The main point of the developed model is to support both MIPv4 and MIPv6 function, and provide network selection policy for the multihomed node between WiMAX and WLAN network. Based on the received Router Advertisement along with the interface number, we can manage the access interfaces in ordered list to make handover decision while the multihomed node is moving. In the end of this paper, the simulation scenarios and results are shown for testing MIPv4 and MIPv6 function.

  • Next-generation wireless/mobile networks are envisioned to have an IP-based infrastructure. One of the research challenges for next-generation all IP-based networks is the design of intelligent mobility management technologies that have a seamless mobility and minimal signaling overhead. Recently, HMIPv6 was proposed by the IETF for efficient mobility management. HMIPv6 reduces the amount of signaling and improves the performance of MIPv6 in terms of handover latency. However the MAP can be a single point of performance bottleneck when there are a lot of local movements. HMIPv6 can cause signaling overhead due to the unnecessary location update of idle mobile nodes. Therefore, in this paper, we propose the dynamic paging Mobile IPv6 that reduces the signaling cost of the unnecessary location updates using IP paging and organizes dynamically optimal MAP area according to user's mobility and traffic. We show performance results that are obtained from the average total location update cost and packet delivery cost.
