Oversea Production Status of Gold, Silver, Platinum and Palladium from Scrap (스크랩으로부터 금, 은, 백금, 팔라듐 해외생산현황)

  • This article aims to summarize the scrap recycling status of gold, silver, platinum and palladium from foreign countries by courntires and industries in order to utilize the data for securing the raw materials of the domestic urbanmining industry. The amount of gold from scrap has shown a tendency to decrease in countries other than China, which is attributed to the large imports of scrap containing gold in China. The industry demand for gold is the highest in electronic products, but demand is decreasing. The amount of scrap recycling in silver has declined in other regions compared to those in Europe, indicating that the world's overall scrap recycling volume has declined. Production and demand from scrap of platinum and palladium are mostly for catalysts and have been steadily increasing until now. However, it is expected that the amount of waste catalysts in automobiles will decrease with the increase of electric vehicle use.

The Behavioral Response of Purple Sea Urchins Heliocodaris crassispina to Food and an Electrical Stimulus (자극원에 따른 보라성게(Heliocodaris crassispina)의 이동패턴 분석)

  • Sea urchins are hugely destructive of marine forest ecosystems. This study aimed to determine the behavioral response of purple sea Urchins Heliocodaris crassispina to food and an electrical stimulus and to investigate the attraction radius of these stimuli, with an eye to the development of technology for controlling sea urchin numbers. Ten purple sea urchins, housed in circular acrylic tank, were tested against various attractant stimuli. In addition, an experiment was conducted with 200 purple sea urchins in a large water tank to observe movement patterns and the attractiveness of various stimuli. In the smaller experiment, eight out of 10 sea urchins were attracted to food, and these attractive effects were maintained in all except one of the affected urchins. However, the attractant effects of the electrical stimulus were maintained in only three sea urchins. The results of the larger experiment indicated that differences in the attractant power of food and an electrical stimulus were 54%-78%, and approximately 5-15% of sea urchins were attracted by the electrical stimulus.

Forecasting the Volume of Imported Passenger Cars at PyeongTaek·Dangjin Port Using System Dynamics (시스템다이내믹스를 활용한 평택·당진항 수입 승용차 물동량 예측에 관한 연구)

  • Pyeongtaek·Dangjin port handles the largest volume of finished vehicles in Korea, including more than 95% of imported cars. However, since the volume of imported cars has been stagnant since 2015, officials planning to invest in port development or automobile-related industries must make new forecasts. Economic variables such as the GDP often have been used in predicting automobile volume, but prior research showed that the impact of these economic variables on automobile volume I has been gradually decreasing in developed countries. These variables remain important predictors, however, in developing countries that experience rapid economic growth. In this study, predicting the volume of imported passenger cars at Pyeongtaek·Dangjin port, the decreasing Korean population was a major factor we considered. Our forecast showed that the volume of imported passenger cars at Pyeongtaek·Dangjin port will gradually decrease -by 2021. The Mean Absolute Percentage Error (MAPE) verification was performed to measure the accuracy of the predicted results, and the scenario analysis was performed on the share of imported passenger cars.

A Feasibility Study on Resilient Modulus of Expanded Polystyrene (EPS) Geofoam as a Flexible Pavement Subgrade Material (연성포장의 노반재료로서 EPS 지오폼의 회복탄성계수에 관한 적합성 연구)

  • Expanded Polystyrene (EPS) is a type of geosynthetic material manufactured with various strengths, unit weights, and dimensions. Due to recent advances in research on EPS, the use of EPS has increased dramatically. This super light weight material has a unit weight of approximately $0.16{\sim}0.47kN/m^3$, equivalent to 6.3~15.7 of that of most natural soils with conditions of fill materials. In spite of this advantage, it is noted that no standard method of resilient modulus test on EPS geofoam was reported and no literature on resilient modulus test methods for EPS geofoam exist. The main object of this study was to investigate feasibility of the resilient modulus of EPS when it was applied for flexible pavement. The investigation of the feasibility was completed based on the results from triaxial tests.

A Study on Automatic Classification of Class Diagram Images (클래스 다이어그램 이미지의 자동 분류에 관한 연구)

  • UML class diagrams are used to visualize the static aspects of a software system and are involved from analysis and design to documentation and testing. Software modeling using class diagrams is essential for software development, but it may be not an easy activity for inexperienced modelers. The modeling productivity could be improved with a dataset of class diagrams which are classified by domain categories. To this end, this paper provides a classification method for a dataset of class diagram images. First, real class diagrams are selected from collected images. Then, class names are extracted from the real class diagram images and the class diagram images are classified according to domain categories. The proposed classification model has achieved 100.00%, 95.59%, 97.74%, and 97.77% in precision, recall, F1-score, and accuracy, respectively. The accuracy scores for the domain categorization are distributed between 81.1% and 95.2%. Although the number of class diagram images in the experiment is not large enough, the experimental results indicate that it is worth considering the proposed approach to class diagram image classification.

  • In general, since the types and types of ships, so complex and various variables are included to measure the amount of construction work. In addition, it is mot easy to predict the schedule or the number of working hours before ship construction, and it is also mostly inaccurate. As a result, the master plan is manually drawn up by the expert's experience, but there are limitations due to various factors. Medium and large shipyards are operating APS(Advanced Planning and Scheduling) system that reflects industrial characteristics to improve productivity in the planning stage, and utilize information from systems such as ERP(Enterprise Resource Planning) system and MES (Manufacturing Execution System). On the other hand, small shipyards rely mostly on manual work such as Excel work based on the experience of the workers. Therefore, this study intends to develop a master plan management system that can efficiently manage the production process from the business planning stage in consideration of the characteristics of small shipyards.

Compression and Tensile Characteristics of Lightweight Air-Trapped Soil (경량기포토의 압축 및 인장 특성)

  • This study is experimentally investigated for characteristics of lightweight air-trapped soils with uniform quality. Previously, EPS (Expanded PolyStyrene) blocks are often used as lightweight embankment, but many problems such as the level difference and cracks were caused by plastic (creep) deformation. So, a new material development is urgent. By means of alternatives, lightweight air-mixed soil using in-situ soils has been developed and applied to fields. In comparison with EPS block, lightweight air-mixed soil has less plastic (creep) deformation in long period, but the strength characteristics are different according to the soils where they are obtained. Therefore, the quality management of lightweight air-mixed soil is very difficult. Therefore in this study, characteristics of lightweight air-trapped soil using a manufactured sand with uniform quality are investigated. To found out the compression and tensile characteristics of lightweight air-tapped soils, unconfined compression test and splitting tensile test are conducted on the specimens prepared with different unit weight, cement-sand ratio and air-pore.

Camber Reconstruction for a Prefab PSC Girder Using Collocated Strain Measurements (병치된 변형률 계측치를 이용한 프리팹 PSC 거더 캠버 재구성)

  • Prefab members have attracted attention because they can be mass-produced in factories through smart construction technology. For prefab prestressed concrete girders, it is important to manage the shapes of the girders properly from production to the pre-installation stage for consistency with the prefab floor plate during the erection process. This paper presents a camber reconstruction method using collocated strain measurements from the top and bottom of the prefab girder. In particular, the camber reconstruction method is applied to measured strain data in which the time-dependent behavior of concrete is considered after the introduction of prestress. Through Monte Carlo numerical simulations, the statistical accuracy of the reconstructed camber for a limited number of sensors, measurement errors, and nonlinear time-dependent behaviors are analyzed and validated.

Effects of Water Temperature, Salinity, Rearing Density and Food Supply on the Growth and Survival of the Surf Clam, Tresus keenae Larvae (수온, 염분, 사육밀도 및 먹이공급이 왕우럭(Tresus keenae) 유생의 성장과 생존에 미치는 영향)

  • This study was conducted to investigate the influence of environmental factors such as water temperature, salinity, rearing density and feeding amount on the survival and development of larvae in surf clam, Tresus keenae. As a result of this study, the optimum conditions of larval rearing were as follows. The optimum range of water temperature is 20℃ to 24℃, the optimum salinity is 30 psu, the optimum rearing density is 5 ind./ml and the supply of mixed feed organism for larva rearing such as Isochrysis galbana, Chaetoceros simplex and Tetraselmis suecica is 10×104 cells/ml. The results of this study suggest that the optimum conditions of environmental factors in larval rearing of Tresus keenae contribute to productivity improvement through rapid growth and high survival.

유기성 폐기물 간접부담금의 도입과 바이오가스 생산보조 정책의 일반균형효과 분석

  • As London and post-Koyto protocols presumably affect emission of organic waste in Korea in 2012, appropriate treatment of organic waste becomes very important. Organic wastes are regarded as non-point pollutants. It has been criticized that direct emission charges on the emission of non-point pollutants are not effective due to the high uncertainty in the relationship between pollution sources and pollution levels. This study suggests indirect emission charges on production of livestocks or consumption on foods. Furthermore, it is assumed that revenue from the emission charges will be recycled to support biogas production. Biogas can be fueled to produce energy. In order to evaluate potential economic and environmental impacts of recycling the indirect emission charges on organic wastes, a static CGE model was developed. Simulation results of emission charges on the production of livestock show that livestock, agriculture, and food industry will confront relatively high burden while emission charges on consumption of food will affect more broadly and consumers will suffer more. Production charge on livestock sector will lead to higher reduction in GDP and total expenditure relative to the consumption charge. GHGs reduction effect was higher for the consumption charge relative to the production charge. Synthetically, consumption charge on food sector is more desirable as an alternative charge for the emission of organic wastes.
