  • A fundamental study on the cooling apparatus inshore fishing boat and its operation characteristics in sea water cooling system were performed experimentally. The circumstance is giving the blow against fisherman with incoming-decreasing and the difficulty of crew's supply and demand and management. In addition, the depression of the external situation such as the plan of EEZ(Exclusive Economic Zone) proclaim is forcing them into improving their fishing condition. By this international and domestic surrounding, the development of a cooling apparatus inshore fishing boat is demanded sincerely. We investigated load characteristics as the pilot plant operation characteristics estimation which is based on the development of cooling system and optimum cooling apparatus inshore fishing boat. These results provide useful informations which are applicable to an actual design and show the possibility of application to other fields.

  • The circumstance is giving the blow against fishermen with the incoming-decreasing and the difficulty of crew's supply & demand and management. In addition, the depression of the external situation like the departure of WTO system and the plan of EEZ proclaim is forcing fishery into improving their fishing condition. By this international and domestic circumstance, development of the sea water cooling apparatus for fish hold storage is demanded sincerely. First of all, we Investigated load characteristics which based on development of sea water cooling system and optimum fish hold storage. The experimental results is as follows. In creasing the speed of compressor and mass blew rate of refrigerant, the temperature of NaCl solution is low. And the load characteristics experiment on fish hold storage outlet is as fellows. As time goes by, increasing the mass flow rate of NaCl solution, temperature difference between inlet and outlet is small in a model of fish hold storage. These results provide many useful informations applicable to an actual design of sea water cooling system and optimum fish hold storage.

  • Hydrocyclone has been widely used for the solid-liquid separation in many industrial sites because of its comparatively preferable applications that can be applied to wide-range particle sizes. If seawater with impurities flows through pumps or heat exchanger, it might cause an decrease in the efficiency of cooling system In this paper, we have suggested some methods of separating impurities from seawater in the cooling system by using a Hydrocyclone. The effects of design factors as solid concentration, cyclone inlet pressure, flow rate and diameter of underflow on the separating performance of the Hydrocyclone were investigated The results from this study are summarized as follows: 1) In proportion to the decrease of solid concentration, the efficiency of solid-liquid separation is improved. 2) According as the cyclone inlet pressure increases the efficiency of separation is improved. Conclusively, this research suggested that the Hydrocyclone will be used as a pre-treatment system of cooling water in machines, and eventually prevent unexpected accidents in engine systems.

  • 최근들어 연근해 어장의 황폐화로 일시 다획성 어종의 어획량이 줄어들고 있을 뿐만 아니라, 배타적 경제수역 선포로 연근해 어장의 상실에 따른 어획량의 감소가 예상되고 있다. 현행의 해수와 육상빙을 50:50으로 하여 어획물을 저장 운반하는 방법인 수빙식은 선도 유지가 잘되지 않으므로 단백질 자원의 고도이용 및 국민건강 증진을 위해서는 어획된 생선을 운반시에 운반선에 적절한 선도관리 장치를 설치하여 선도저하를 억제시켜야 한다. (중략)

  • 바다를 가로막는 방벽이나 방조제의 배수갑문 또는 조력발전소의 수문과 같이 인공 해양구조물을 통하여 흐르는 고속 해류를 이용하여 발전하는 해류발전 방식에 있어서, 고속 해류에 적합한 수차터빈과 발전기의 특성을 알아보았다. 조석간만의 차가 큰 지역에 설치되는 인공 해양구조물을 지나는 해류는 인공 해양구조물 전후에 발생하는 해수의 위치에너지 차이가 운동에너지로 바뀌면서 조석간만의 자연현상에 의해 발생되는 조류의 속도보다 훨씬 더 빠르게 흐른다. 이론적으로 우리나라의 서해안의 조석간만의 범위 3~8m로부터 7.5~12m/s 정도의 고속 해류가 가능하다. 이러한 경우에 적합한 해류발전기는 수차터빈 날개지름의 크기가 5m에서부터 12m 이하이면서, 증속기어박스와 발전기, 유압시스템 및 냉각시스템 그리고 전력변환장치를 포함하는 발전시설들을 해수면 위에 설치하는 것이 바람직하다.

  • The fuel charge is getting higher in navigation cost. Therefore, shipowners try to find the method for reducing oil consumption. ESS(Energy Saving System) is one of he method. ESS is the system consisted with two inverters, ESS control unit and monitoring system. Two inverters control two main sea water cooling pumps. In the ESS control Unit, the control algorithm finds optimized point to decrease a power consumption of main sea water cooling pumps. Monitoring system observes ESS not to work improperly. ESS is experimented in the laboratory with real condition and analyzed in every view. After experiment, the result of the experiment shows that the control algorithm works correctly and safely. ESS has a plan to be operated in the ship soon. In that case, additional devices are needed to connect ESS with cooling system of the vessel. So the development of addition device is needed and being studied.

A Study on the Ship's ORC Power System using Seawater Temperature Difference (선박의 해수 온도차를 이용한 ORC 발전 시스템에 관한 연구)

  • In this study, for the purpose of reduction of $CO_2$ gas emission and to increase recovery of waste heat from ships, the ORC(Organic Rankine Cycle) is investigated and offered for the conversion of temperature heat to electricity from waste heat energy from ships. Simulation is performed with waste heat from the exhaust gasse which is relatively high temperature and cooling sea water which is relatively low temperature from ships. The result shows that 1,000kW power generation is available from exhaust gas and 600kW power generation is available from sea water cooling system. Different fluid is used for simulation of the ORC system with variable temperature and flow condition and efficiency of system and output power is compared.

An Experimental Study on the Dispersion Characteristics of Seawater Injection Nozzle for Hull Cooling (선체냉각을 위한 해수분사노즐의 산포특성에 관한 실험 연구)

  • Infrared stealth is an important technology for naval ships. This technology helps improve the anti-detection performance and survivability of naval ships. In general, the infrared signature of naval ships are categorized into internal and external heat source. External signature are generated by ship surface heating by solar flux as well as the complicated heat transfer process with the surrounding weather condition. Modern naval ships are equipped with seawater injection nozzles on the outside for nuclear, biological and, chemical, and these nozzles are used to control external signature. Wide nozzle placement intervals and insufficient injection pressure, however, have reduced seawater dispersion area. To address this problem, nozzle installation standards must be established. In this study, an actual-scale experimental system was implemented to provide the evidence for nozzle installation standards in order to reduce the infrared signature of naval ships. In addition, the environmental conditions of the experiment were set up through computational fluid dynamics considering the ocean climate data and naval ship management conditions of South Korea. The dispersion distance was measured using a high-resolution thermography system. The flow rate, pipe pressure, and dispersion distance were analyzed, and the evidence for the installation of seawater injection nozzles and operation performance standards was suggested.
