A Basic Study for Utilization of Autopilot System Using Electromagnetic Compass in a Small Fishing Boat (소형 어선에서 전자자기 컴퍼스를 이용한 항행자동시스템의 실용화에 관한 기초적 연구)

  • Experiments were carried out to measure the variation of the compass error on ship's head up bearing by magnetic compass and electromagnetic compass on berthing at the pier in order to obtain a basic information on the utilization of autopilot system using electromagnetic compass in fishing boat. The wooden fishing boat, turned on attracting fish lamps of power consumption 85kW, steering magnetic compass and electromagnetic compass indicated westerly compass error with 7$^{\circ}$ and 13 $^{\circ}$~16$^{\circ}$ respectively. The FRP fishing boat, turned on attracting fish lamps of power consumption 130kW, electromagnetic compass indicated easterly compass error 19$^{\circ}$~23$^{\circ}$. The steel fishing boat, turned on ship's navigation equipments of power consumption 225kW, steering magnetic compass indicated westerly compass error with 16$^{\circ}$. While the difference of compass error using electromagnetic compass indicated westerly compass error with 68$^{\circ}$ on the upper deck when the navigation and fishing equipment turn on compare to turn off the equipment, it had easterly compass error with 16$^{\circ}$, 32$^{\circ}$, 20$^{\circ}$ on the forecastle deck, wheel house and compass deck respectively.

  • 울산항은 1996년 9월부터 입출항 선박의 항행안전을 위해 VTS 시스템을 설치운영하고 있으나 많은 선박통항량과 위험화물 운송선박의 잦은 운항으로 여러 가지 위험요소가 상존하고 있는 개항장이다. VTS 시스템은 레이더의 자동물표추적장치에 의한 데이터, PORT-MIS의 선박관련 데이터 등 많은 정보들이 분산 처리되어 관제사에게 제공되고 있으나 최근 선박에 설치 운영되고 있는 선박자동식별장치(AIS)에 의해 선박의 정보들이 더욱 신속하고 정확하게 처리되는 것으로 평가되고 있다. 그러나 인위적인 과실에 의한 AIS의 오류정보들과 원활하지 못한 데이터통신에 의한 데이터 누락현상에 의해 VTS 시스템 운용에 막대한 영향을 초래하고 있다. 이러한 인위적인 과실에 의한 AIS의 오류 데이터는 PSC 검사관들의 적극적인 개선의지로 정책적인 계도작업을 수행하고 있으므로 점차 개선될 것으로 기대된다. 따라서 본 연구에서 AIS의 원활하지 못한 통신망에 의한 데이터 누락 현상에 의한 VTS 시스템에서의 영향을 조사 분석하고 이에 따른 개선 방안을 제시하고자 한다.

  • In this paper, we design standard cell libraries using the 0.18um deep submircom CMOS process, and port them into a P&R (Placement and Routing) CAD tool. A simple test chip has been designed in order to verify the functionalities of the 0.18um standard cell libraries whose technical process was provided by Anam semiconductor. Through these experiments, we have found that the new 0.18um CMOS process can be successfully applied to automatic digital system design.

  • DURUMI-II is developed into test bed airplane for the multi-purpose flight test. It satisfied the civil aeronautics law. DURUMI-II is equipped with Airborne System for acquiring of flight test data and can fly by oneself. In this paper, the redundancy of DURUMI-II control system is operated sequentially is explained. The divided control surface and the requiring program method for flight test are described. Also, it is described that the exact control input is applied using the new method. Finally, the results of flight test for new method are analyzed.

  • According to the recent increase in air traffic more efficient air traffic control automation is required. Aeronautical traffic environment is different from the common traffic environment since it exist controller for control of aircraft And controller have to control jurisdiction hand-off by manual when aircraft move to the other sector. This paper proposes the automatic control jurisdiction hand-off algorithm for efficient air traffic flow management. It is sector distinction algorithm that aircraft move sector to the other sector it recognized sector and then give permission to authorized controller. As a simulation result, so unlilke simply manual control sector hand-off of existing algorithm. we confirmed that proposed algorithm in this paper can do air traffic control more efficiently by performing automatic aircraft. control sector hand-off.

  • Disease diagnostics based on medical imaging is getting popularity day by day. Presence of the atherosclerosis is one of the causes of narrowing of carotid arteries which may block partially or fully blood flow into the brain. Serious brain strokes may occur due to such types of blockages in blood flow. Early detection of the plaque and taking precautionary steps in this regard may prevent from such type of serious strokes. In this paper, we present an automatic image segmentation technique for carotid artery ultrasound images based on active contour approach. In our experimental study, we assume that ultrasound images are properly aligned before applying automatic image segmentation. We have successfully applied the automatic segmentation of carotid artery ultrasound images using snake based model. Qualitative comparison of the proposed approach has been made with the manual initialization of snakes for carotid artery image segmentation. Our proposed approach successfully segments the carotid artery images in an automated way to help radiologists to detect plaque easily. Obtained results show the effectiveness of the proposed approach.

  • FOD is a generic term for substances with potential threats that can pose a fatal risk to aircraft. Therefore, FOD should be noted in all areas of the airport. Especially, the method of detecting and collecting FOD in runway and aircraft movements is very low efficiency and economical efficiency of airport operation, so it is essential to develop FOD automatic detection system suitable for domestic environment. As part of the aviation safety technology development project, the development of an automatic detection system for foreign matter in the moving area of the aircraft inside the airport is underway. In this paper, it is confirmed that EO / IR camera is used for detection of foreign objects at Taean Airfield of Hanseo University. EO camera is used during the day and IR camera is used at night.

  • In port and coastal areas where ship traffic is frequent, ship noise dominantly influences underwater noise in low frequency band below 1 kHz. In this paper, we propose a modeling method to estimate the underwater shipping noise using the voyage information of ship observed in AIS (Automatic Identification System). For the purpose of ship noise modeling, the navigation information of the vessels operating in the southern part of Jeju was observed using AIS and underwater noise was measured by installing a hydrophone in the experimental area to verify the modeled ship noise. AIS data were used to model the noise level of ship and compared with measured underwater noise. The variation of noise level with time was found to be similar, and the cause of the error was discussed. Through this study, it was confirmed that the noise level of ship can be estimated within 5 dB error range using AIS data.

  • Smart Factory requires real-time monitoring and analysis of all process processes for optimal production environment. Monitoring system for data collection from various sensors is necessary to make all production processes automatic. By storing and analyzing the collected data, we can check whether there are any signs of abnormalities in any machine or equipment. Thus, in this paper, an integrated monitoring system for smart factory incorporating a working environment monitoring system and an automatic storage system of measurement values was implemented. By using the automatic storage system of measurement values, it is possible to carry out reliable inspection in any place without misentry. Also, through working environment monitoring system using LoRa, production environments such as temperature, humidity and atmospheric pressure can be monitored in real time.

  • FOD refers to various metals and non-metallic foreign substances that pose a risk to aircraft. FODs occur in all areas and time zones, including runways, taxiways, and maintenance facilities, and pose a fatal hazard to aircraft safety during aircraft movements and take-off and landing. Rapid and effective detection and removal of FODs in the runway is required. As part of recent developments in aviation safety technologies, automatic detection of debris in runways in airports is under way. In this paper, we conducted an automated detection test using the EO/IR camera and radar at the Taean campus of Hansu University to confirm normal detection during the day and night.
