In order for Aids to Navigation to provide sustainable services to users, it is possible when there is no Aids to Navigation accident. If an Aids to Navigation accident occurs, the manager should efficiently manage it to prevent the same accident. However, the current Aids to Navigation accident management only specifies the cause and type of the accident. There are no separate guidelines. Thus, the accident is recorded differently depending on the manager. Therefore, this study attempted to redefine Aids to Navigation accident. To this end, Aids to Navigation accidents that have occurred over the past 23 years (year 2000 to years 2022), IALA's Aids to Navigation information standard, S-201, and categories of accidents (traffic accidents and marine accidents) were analyzed. Causes of Aids to Navigation accidents were divided into internal and external causes. Accidents were divided into three types: Light tower accident, buoy accident, and equipment accident. By further subdividing primary items, the cause of accident was reestablished into 7 items such as mooring and bad weather and 11 items such as Light tower damage, buoy loss, and equipment breakdown. These research results can be used as basic data to provide future Aids to Navigation accident statistics.
As global supply chain risks proliferate unpredictably, the high interdependence of port and logistics industry intensifies the risk burden. This study conducted fundamental research to explore diverse safety issues in domestic ports. Utilizing news article data about Busan Port, we employed LDA topic modeling and time-series linear regression to understand key safety trends. Over the past 30 years, Busan Port faced nine major safety issues-maritime safety, import cargo inspection, labor strikes, and natural disasters emerged cyclically. Major port safety issues in Busan Port are primarily characterized by an unpredictable nature, falling under socio-environmental and natural phenomena types, indicating a significant impact of global uncertainty. Therefore, systematic policies need to be formulated based on identified port safety issues to enhance port safety in Busan Port. Additionally, there is a need to strengthen the resilience of port safety for unpredictable risk situations. In conclusion, advanced research activities are necessary to promote port safety enhancement in response to dynamically changing social conditions.

This study is a development on condition based maintenance(CBM) technology which is a core item of future autonomous ships. It is developing to design & installation of condition monitoring system and acquisition & processing of data from ongoing ships for fault prediction & prognosis of engine in operation. The ultimate goal of this study is to develop a predicts and decision support software for marine engine faults. To do this, the FMEA and fault tree analysis of the main engine should be accompanied by the analysis of classification of system, identification of the components, the type of faults, and the cause and phenomenon of the failure. Finally, the CBM system solution software could predict and diagnose the failure of main engine through integrated analysis for bid-data of ongoing ships and engineering knowledge. Through this study, it is possible to pro-actively cope with abnormal signals of engine and to manage efficiently, and as a result, expected that marine accident and ship operation loss during navigation will be prevented in advance.

Maritime English is a specialized language system designed for ship operations, maritime safety, and external and internal communication onboard. According to the International Maritime Organization's (IMO) International Convention on Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers (STCW), it is imperative that navigational officers engaged in international voyages have a thorough understanding of Maritime English including the use of Standard Marine Communication Phrases (SMCP). This study measured students' proficiency in Maritime English using a learning and testing platform that includes voice recognition, translation, and word entry tasks to evaluate the resulting improvement in Maritime English exam scores. Furthermore, the study aimed to investigate the level of platform use needed for cadets to qualify as junior navigators. The experiment began by examining the correlation between students' overall English skills and their proficiency in SMCP through an initial test, followed by the evaluation of improvements in their scores and changes in exam duration during the mid-term and final exams. The initial test revealed a significant dif erence in Maritime English test scores among groups based on individual factors, such as TOEIC scores and self-assessment of English ability, and both the mid-term and final tests confirmed substantial score improvements for the group using the platform. This study confirmed the efficacy of a learning platform that could be extensively applied in maritime education and potentially expanded beyond the scope of Maritime English education in the future.
Recently, the role of container ports is radically changing, These changes are largely driven by the innovation process of Logistics such as Supply Chain Logistics and Global Logistics due to the international expansional of industry. Under this environment, It is required that the container port should act as a integral part of a Supply Logistics Chain especially to provide the customer-oriented logistics service. This paper deals with the development strategy of container ports coping with these changes in the view point of container ports as a Logistics infrastructure to provide customer-response services and necessary to the economic promotion of hinterlands. Strategy is suggested in the phases of the customers desire, the pattern of container cargo, the economic promotion of hinterlands, and interrelation of container ports in north-east Asia and also domestics through the analysis of competiveness of container ports.
A new type qf demonstrations in the temporal and spacial aspects, such as accidental and unprepared demonstration, urgent assembly, demonstration-on-sea, demonstration-on-highway, and etc., which are not intended in the Law of Assembly and Demonstration, are becoming a social problem Especially, the law on demonstration-on-sea needs to be discussed further because it is not clear if the Law of Assembly and Demonstration is applicable here. If so, how can it be explained logically? Or, if not so, which law should be applied to this context? So far, various theories on demonstration-on-sea have been opposed aggressively vs. submissively. However, it should be guaranteed that the demonstration on sea is one of the constitutional rights based on the self-decision right of demonstration's place. Accordingly, these contents have to be interpreted with a concept of demonstration in Demonstration's law in coordination with the Constitution. Therefore, it is not persuasive that Demonstration's law is analogized, or general police law is applied, to such untypical demonstrations. In addition, taking into consideration a demonstrative function for minority under modem situation of demonstration, it is right to apply the Law of Assembly and Demonstration to the demonstration-upon-sea directly.
While marine transport freight is steadily increasing, people are more interested in terminals handling cargo. But the domestic researches on terminals were almost on container terminal. This study attempted to study the service quality for bulk terminals. The users of bulk terminal services were divided into shipowners and shippers to compare their differences by using bulk terminal service provided. During the attributions proposed in this study, Tangibles were descripted by the numbers of berth or depth, facilities, and so on. So it was suitable to consider the tangibles by formative indicators. And also this study has tried using "reflective model" and "formative model" to make a measurement model for comprehensive analyses. The results showed that all of the items were significant except the relation between empathy and performance satisfaction in the overall measurement model analyses. User groups difference analyses results have showed that the trust responsiveness impact on performance satisfaction was more importantly assessed by shippers than by shipowners. It was expected to use the results of this study as a good strategic resource to help bulk terminal administrators make various expansion plans to improve the bulk terminal's competitiveness in the future.
Recently, there have been some researches in the equipment fault detection based on shock and vibration information. Most research of them is based on shock and vibration monitoring to determine the equipment fault or not. Different with engine fault detection based on shock and vibration information we focus on detection of engine for boat and system control. First, it use the duplicated-checking method for shock and vibration information to determine the engine fault or not. If there is a fault happened, we use the integral to determine the error engine shock wave width and detect the fault area. On the other hand, we use the engine trend analysis and standard of safety engine to implement the shock and vibration information database. Our simulation results show that the probability of engine fault determination is 98% and the probability of engine fault detection is 72%

Due to the changes in market place, new business types(e.g. e-business) have been rapidly emerged and increased. However, those new business types have not much been emerged n shipping and port related industries, and adoption rate of e-business in this area is very low, compared to other industries. Thus, to promote e-business in this area. many policies have been studied. However, most of previous studies have not been based on industrial structure, and results of these studies have mostly been case by case. Further, there have been no research based on the related theories. As a result, despite many of research and project for shipping and port related e-business, prominent achievements in this area have never to be presented. For these reasons, it can be stated that, first of all, basic studies related to new business types in shipping and port are needed. For these reasons, it can be stated that, first of all, basic studies related to new business types in shipping and port are needed, and then, various policies based on results of those basic studies should be discussed. The aim of this study is to classify business types existed (or expected) in a port related industry, ship bunkering. This taxonomy was based on theories related to business layer(BL) and value chain(VC), and these BL and VC combination enabled to acquire all possible business types.
