  • Construction of large-scale container ports with the productivity improvements in container cranes shortened time of staying port to increase the level of service it harbors efforts accelerated. About container crane system exerted on the input, which is designed to look good performance considering the states feedback control system. The states observer designed of container cranes state variables that are expected to measurement noise or particular measurement signal. In the status of existing research, the feedback gain matrix and the state observer gain matrix are searched by being separated solving. But the feedback gain matrix and the state observer gain matrix are searched by RCGAs at once that be used robust search method in this paper.

  • This paper discusses the problem of scheduling berth and container cranes simultaneously in port container terminals. A mixed-integer programming model is formulated by considering various practical constraints. A heuristic algorithm is suggested for solving the mathematical model. A numerical experiment was conducted to test the performance of the suggested heuristic algorithm.

  • This study was carried out to analyze the effect of the variation of a wind speed on the stability of a container crane. The wind load according to 'The Requirement of Port Facilities and Equipments / Specification for the design of crane structures (KS A 1627)' and 'Load Criteria of Structures' enacted by the ministry of construction & transportation was evaluated. And the uplift forces of a container crane under this wind load were calculated by analyzing reaction forces at each supporting point and compared with each other. The analytic model was a container crane with uplift capacity of 50ton which was widely used in port.

  • As the quantity of transported goods increases, there is a lot of mechanical trouble with loading facilities. So it tremendously produces not only economic loss but also time loss. To reduce the loss from the trouble of leading facilities, it is necessary to analyse the distribution of the problem's occurrence and use the analyzed data to minimize the outbreak of trouble. So the data can be usefully used when designing or manufacturing and it also can be utilized for proper maintenance of operating equipment, frequency of inspection and repair, know-how of checking on equipment and purchasing of spare parts. And it is possible to minimize the loss if the propel maintenance is adapted

  • Container crane is main equipment in container terminals and it determines the productivity and the efficiency of container terminals. The typical type of container cranes has the single trolley and one among advanced types of them has the dual trolley. The objective of this paper is to analyze the buffer size of a container crane with the dual trolley in container terminals. We present a simulation model for analysing the buffer space of a container crane with the dual trolley. The buffer space is located between main trolley in sea-side and second trolley in yard-side. We performs various simulation experiments and analyze the buffer size to estimate the required productivity.

  • The existing control techniques for the operation of a container crane satisfy the terminal condition of controlled variables, but the outcome of input computation is inadequate for the operation of the crane due to heavy movement of inputs. In this study, a new control technique employing a nonlinear model of the crane is proposed to compute the inputs approximated with the 4th-order Chevyshev function. The control objective of sum of absolute deviations is minimized, and the optimization is conducted with the simplex algorithm. The inputs and outputs computed from the proposed technique were compared with the results of the previous study to show that they give more stable crane operation than the existing control technique.

  • This study was carried out to amlyze and compare the stability of a 50ton container crane according to various wind load design codes. The wind load was evaluated according to 'The Specification of Port Facilities and Equipments / Specification for the design of crane structures (KS A 1627)' and 'Load Criteria of Building Structures' effected by the ministry of construction & transportation And the uplift forces qf a container crane under this wind load were estimated by amlyzing reaction forces at each supporting point and compared each other. From this study, we noticed that the design wind velocity criteria need to be defined specifically when the wind load is evaluated to design a container crane. And we verified the necessity of the estimation of the uplift forces at each supporting point to analyze a structural stability of a container crane and the maximum compressive force in order to consider the stability of the ground foundation of the berth.

  • In this paper, we deal with on observer design for detecting the human faults in container crane operation. First we propose an observer for detecting the human faults and show the existing condition for the observer. In this case, we assume that the human faults can be considered ad a careless mistake during the crane operation. In simulation, we used the previous results for human work model and design the observer for the human work model. As a simulation results with human faults, the proposed observer can detected the human faults perfectly, thus the efficiency of proposed observer is shown.

  • Container cranes are main equipments to load and unload containers to container ships at container terminals. If a crane breakdowns, it can reduce the productivity of container terminals. This paper deals with Preventive Maintenance (PM) schedules for the container cranes. The cranes consist of many parts and we analyze the structure of a container crane using the tree models. Next, we apply a Genetic Algorithm (GA) for determining optimal PM schedule and evaluate the performance of the proposed method through simulation system Finally, we explain how to adjust the PM schedule found in industry based on work schedules.

  • The productivity for container hand1ing in container ship is a important role in container terminal, and it is mainly depended on the productivity of gantry crane. From the failure of gantry crane, the crane will be stopped until the repair of the failure. During the repair, the loading and/or discharging for container ship is suspended, and the productivities of the container ship and the yard is just hold. Thus, the prevention maintenance is importance to make a keep the steady state condition for all equipments in container terminal. In this paper, we deal with a optimal determination method of prevention maintenance interval for gantry crane systems. For verification, we will make a productivity of gantry crane and adapt to total container handling in each ship by simulation.
