A Study on the Operational Improvement at Pusan Container Terminal (부산항 컨테이너 전용 터미널 운영 개선을 위한 연구)

  • In this paper, we compare and analyze the current state of the productivity of the stevedoring work among several container terminals in 1999. Based on these results of analysis, we firstly classify several factors which impede the efficient operations of container terminal as follows ; late arrival of container beyond cargo closing time(CCT), change of port of destination, change of vessel, and return cargo. Such factors are major cause for the cargo rehandling on terminals, thus deteriorate the overall performance of transfer crane during the stevedoring work. In order to improve the productivity of container terminal, we suggest that it is necessary for establishing and operating the efficient logistics management system. Especially, we emphasize the importance of information exchange on the scheduled cargoes among the relevant parties such as shippers, shipping companies, and terminal operators, which is the most effective way to alleviate the cargo rehandling.

  • 현재 국내 항만에서의 작업은 대부분 수작업으로 진행되기 때문에 다양한 안전사고 발생과 시간 및 비용 등의 손실이 우려된다. 이를 해소하고자 최적경로 알고리즘을 이용한 AGV 차량 및 자동화 크레인으로 무인 스마트 항만을 제안한다. RFID 인식으로 컨테이너의 정보를 확인하고, 각 경로의 노드 정보가 담긴 QR 코드 인식을 통해 최적으로 목적지에 달성하는 것이 핵심이다. 본 논문은 이러한 기능으로 시간 및 비용 절감, 효율 상승과 인명피해 및 안전사고 예방을 목표로 한다.

An Empirical Comparative Study of the Seaport Clustering Measurement Using Bootstrapped DEA and Game Cross-efficiency Models (부트스트랩 DEA모형과 게임교차효율성모형을 이용한 항만클러스터링 측정에 대한 실증적 비교연구)

  • The purpose of this paper is to show the clustering trend and the comparison of empirical results and is to choose the clustering ports for 3 Korean ports(Busan, Incheon and Gwangyang Ports) by using the bootstrapped DEA(Data Envelopment Analysis) and game Cross-efficiency models for 38 Asian ports during the period 2003-2013 with 4 input variables(birth length, depth, total area, and number of cranes) and 1 output variable(container TEU). The main empirical results of this paper are as follows. First, bootstrapped DEA efficiency of SW and LT is 0.7660, 0.7341 respectively. Clustering results of the bootstrapped DEA analysis show that 3 Korean ports [ Busan (6.46%), Incheon (3.92%), and Gwangyang (2.78%)] can increase the efficiency in the SW model, but the LT model shows clustering values of -1.86%, -0.124%, and 2.11% for Busan, Gwangyang, and Incheon respectively. Second, the game cross-efficiency model suggests that Korean ports should be clustered with Hong Kong, Shanghi, Guangzhou, Ningbo, Port Klang, Singapore, Kaosiung, Keelong, and Bangkok ports. This clustering enhances the efficiency of Gwangyang by 0.131%, and decreases that of Busan by-1.08%, and that of Incheon by -0.009%. Third, the efficiency ranking comparison between the two models using the Wilcoxon Signed-rank Test was matched with the average level of SW (72.83 %) and LT (68.91%). The policy implication of this paper is that Korean port policy planners should introduce the bootstrapped DEA, and game cross-efficiency models when clustering is needed among Asian ports for enhancing the efficiency of inputs and outputs. Also, the results of SWOT(Strength, Weakness, Opportunity, and Threat) analysis among the clustering ports should be considered.

  • 소음저감 설계기술은 제품의 경쟁력 향상을 위해 일반인이 쉽게 접근할 수 잇는 가전제품, 자동차, 항공기 분야 등에서 많은 연구가 수행되어 왔으며, 최근 소음환경 규제가 강화되고 대형기계의 설치 위치가 주거지역과 가까워지므로 산업용 기계설비의 소음제어에 대한 관심이 점차 증대되고 있다. 특히 디젤 엔진 발전기 세트를 이용해서 전원을 공급하는 산업용 기계에 있어서는 디젤 엔진과 발전기가 주소음원이며, 크게 기계적 소음, 공기 역학적 소음, 그리고 전자기 소음 등으로 분류된다. 본 연구는 이러한 소음을 발생시키는 엔진(Engine), 발전기(Generator), 방열팬(Radiator Fan) 등의 성능을 개선시켜 소음을 감소시키는 것이 아니라, 외부 덮개(Canopy)에 흡음재를 부착하여 소음저감 방법을 채택했다. 연구대상으로서는 항만에서 컨테이너(Container)를 운송하는 이동용 크레인(Transfer Crane)의 엔진 발전기 세트(set)로서, 각 구성품(엔진, 발전기, 방열 팬)의 음향 덮개의 내부구조를 설계하였다. 그리고 덮개 내부 온도를 일정하게 유지시키기 위하여 엔진에서 방사하는 방열공기와 내부로 흡입되는 냉각공기의 열유동장 해석도 병행하였다.

Dual Cycle Plan for Efficient Ship Loading and Unloading in Container Terminals (컨테이너 터미널의 효율적인 선적 작업을 위한 Dual Cycle 계획)

  • At container terminals, a major measurement of productivity can be work-efficiency in quay-side. At the apron, containers are loaded onto the ship and unloaded to apron by Q/C(Quay Crane). For improving the productivity of quay crane, the more efficient Y/T(Yard Tractor) operation method is necessary in container terminals. Between quay-side and yard area, current transferring methods is single-cycling which doesn't start loading unless it finishes unloading. Dual-cycling is a technique that can be used to improve the productivity of quay-side and utility of yard tractor by ship loading and unloading simultaneously. Using the dual-cycling at terminals only necessitates an operational change without purchasing extra equipment. Exactly, Y/T operation method has to be changed the dedicate system to pooling system. This paper presents an efficient ship loading and unloading plan in container terminals, which use the dual-cycling. We propose genetic and tabu search algorithm for this problem.

A Study on the Adoption of Korean Register of Shipping Rules through the Analysis of Pile Driving Boat Capsizing (침몰된 항타선 분석을 통한 한국선급 규칙 적용에 관한 연구)

  • In December 2012, a pile driving boat sunk off the coast of Ulsan port in Korea. The cause of capsizing of these boats was considered a complex problem. Although Korean Ship Safety Technology Authority concluded that leaders (cranes) of the vessel were designed with sufficient safety factors, National Forensic Service concluded that the capsizing was caused by the failure of leaders. This study reviewed the related laws, strength calculations, and structural analysis methods used by the Korea Ship Safety Technology Authority. In addition, numerical simulations were carried out on hydrodynamic analysis and structural analysis to analyze the cause of vessel capsizing based on the rules of the Korean Register of Shipping. The results were similar to those found by National Forensic Service. In conclusion, the study suggested that inspection especially for a pile driving boat subjected to the Korean Register of Shipping rules should be carried out to prevent the similar accident.

Implementation of Ubiquitous Port Operation System Using RTLS (RTLS를 활용한 유비쿼터스 항만운영시스템 구축 방안)

  • RTLS(Real Time Location System) is the system to provide information and real-time location of tagged objects by using RTLS tag. In this paper, in order to enhance the performance of the port operation system, and efficient operation method of yard is suggested by applying RFID(Radio Frequency Identification)-based RTLS that provides real-time accurate positions of containers. In the group-based loading sequence system, the containers in the same group should have the similar characteristics such as POD(Port of Destination), size, weight, etc. In order to run this system, we propose the scheme using the parameters to the unspecified N bytes of RFID tag specified in ISO 18000-7. According to simulation result, the group-based system reduces the re-handling ratio of TC(Transfer Crane) in yard. It will reduce the whole lead-time in the process of port pogistics.

A Comparative Study of the Efficiency among Korea, Chinese, and Japanese Ports (한·중·일 항만효율성 비교연구)

  • The aim of this study is to analyze the efficiency of major ports in Northeast Asia such as Korea, China and Japan. For the empirical analysis, we tried to apply the data envelopment analysis (DEA), which is an efficiency evaluation model based on mathematical programming theory, and we also established a model to Northeast Asian ports. In our opinion, DEA analysis which involves multiple inputs as well as multiple outputs in its efficiency valuation makes analysis more suitable for port efficiency measurement because ports produce a number of different outputs. In this paper, we attempted to analyze the relative efficiency of 27 ports (5 Korean ports, 13 Chinese ports, 9 Japanese ports) through DEA-CCR, DEA-BCC models. According to the result, Chinese ports are relatively efficient than Korean and Japanese ports. The result of the analysis shows that 7 Chinese ports are efficient in DEA-CCR model in 2009, but in DEA-BCC model 8 Chinese ports and 1 Koran port are efficient. Most of inefficient ports have a value closed to 1 in efficiency for scale, it means that the reason of inefficiency is caused from the technical aspect. Furthermore, we also verified that there exists excess of input in Korean and Japanese ports than Chinese ports.

  • 하역장치가 장착된 모바일하버 선박은 새로운 해상운송시스템 개념으로, 임시정박지에서 대형 컨테이너 선박에 계류하여 해상상태 3 이하 조건에서 선박간 해상계류 상태에서 신속하면서 효율적인 컨테이너 하역작업을 수행하는 것이다. 모바일하버와 관련한 주요 연구로는 고속하역시스템, 부유체 구조 설계, 안벽하역시스템 해석 및 작업크레인 설계 둥의 원천 기술 개발을 중심으로 수행되었다. 본 연구는 모바일하버 선박의 하역작업 중 동척 안전성 확보를 위한 계류안정화시스템을 개발하고자 하는 것으로, 국내외 계류장치에 대한 현황 분석을 기초로 현재 선박에 탑재되어 있는 의장장치인 윈치시스템에 계류안정화 기능을 추가시킨 포지셔녕 윈치를 개발하여 모선과의 상대운동을 최소화하는 방안에 대한 개념 설계를 제안한다.

  • During the operation of crane system in the container yard, it is necessary to control the crane trolley position so that the swing of the hanging container is minimized. Recently an automatic control system with high speed and rapid transportation is required. Therefore, we designed a controller to control the crane system with disturbances and weight change. In this paper, we present the neural network two degree of freedom PID controller to control the swing motion and trolley position. Then we executed the computer simulation to verify the performance of the proposed controller and compared the performance of the neural network PID controller with our proposed controller in terms of the rope swing and the precision of position control. Computer simulation results show that the proposed controller has better performances than neural network PID with disturbances.
