Synthesis of Sol using acid Colloidal Silica and TMOS/MTMS (산성 Colloidal Silica와 TMOS/MTMS를 이용한 졸합성)

  • 산성 colloidal silica(CS) 1034A, HSA와 TMOS, MTMS 실란 간의 졸겔반응조건이 코팅도막의 특성에 미치는 영향을 조사하기 위하여 1034A CS계에 대해서는 1단계로 실란들을 첨가하고 동일한 MTMS에 대해 CS/TMOS의 함량비, 반응시간을 달리하여 졸을 합성하였다. HSA계에 대해서는 2단계로 분리하여 TMOS, MTMS 실란을 첨가하는데 실란 첨가순서와 실란 함량비, 반응시간을 달리하여 졸을 합성하였다. 합성된 졸은 slide glass에 함침 코팅한 후 $300^{\circ}C$에서 경화시킨 도막의 특성들을 조사하였다. 1034A CS계는 CS/TMOS의 비가 70/30일 때 50/50인 경우보다 반응시간에 따라서 표면조도가 우수하여 접촉각에 영향을 덜 주므로 효과적인 균일 반응상으로 진행되었다. HSA CS계는 1단계로 MTMS를 먼저 첨가하고 MTMS/TMOS 비를 25/75로 첨가하면 반응시간에 따라서 표면조도 거칠기에 크게 영향 받지 않고 접촉각을 안정화시킬 수 있다.

  • Three kinds of electrolyte membranes were prepared by impregnating filter papers with one of the electrolyte solutions fur primary manganese battery ($NH_4Cl$, $ZnCl_2$, and alkaline types) and hygroscopic agent ($CaBr_2$ or $CaCl_2$), respectively. The thickness of them was $250{\sim}300{\mu}m$, and they were very flexible. The electrochemical characteristics greatly depended on the hygroscopic agent to supply water to the cell. The electrolyte membrane containing $CaCl_2$ showed the highest ionic conductivity and the largest discharge capacity.

A Review of Carbon-Reinforced Carbon Nanotube Fibers Composites (탄소강화 탄소나노튜브 섬유 복합소재 연구 동향)

  • Although carbon nanotubes(CNTs) have outstanding theoretical mechanical and electrical properties, CNT fibers(CNTFs) have not yet reached that level. Particularly, tensile strength is only about 10% or less, so studies for making up for it are being actively conducted. As a way for improving mechanical strength, methods such as synthesizing long CNT, orientation, chemical cross-linking, hydrogen bonding and polymer infiltration are being studied. In this review paper, we report preparation methods for highly conductive and strong CNTF/Carbon composites through coating and infiltration followed by carbonization of carbon precursor polymers such as polyacrylonitrile (PAN) and polydopamine (PDA) on CNTFs.

Changes in Flexural Strength and Electrical Resistivity of Bulk Graphite According to the Viscosity of Impregnant (함침재의 점도에 따른 벌크흑연의 굽힘강도 및 전기비저항 변화)

  • In the manufacturing of bulk graphite, pores produced by vaporization and discharge of volatile materials in binders during carbonization reduce the density of bulk graphite, which adversely affects the electrical conductivity, strength and mechanical properties. Therefore, an impregnation process is introduced to fill the pores and increase the density of bulk graphite. In this study, bulk graphite is prepared by varying the viscosity of the impregnant. The microstructure of bulk graphite is observed. The flexural strength and electrical resistivity are measured. As the viscosity of the impregnants decreases and the number of impregnations increases, it is shown that the number of pores decreases. The density before impregnation is 1.62 g/㎤. The density increases to 1.67 g/㎤ and porosity decreases by 18.6 % after three impregnations using 5.1 cP impregnant, resulting in the best pore-filling effect. After three times of impregnation with a viscosity of 5.1 cP, the flexural strength increases by 55.2 % and the electrical resistivity decreases by 86.76 %. This shows that a slight increase in density due to the pore-filling effect improves the properties of bulk graphite.

Compression Behavior and Damage Evaluation for Automotive Suspension Fiber-Reinforced Composite Coil Springs (자동차용 서스펜션 섬유강화 복합재 코일 스프링의 압축특성 및 손상평가)

  • In this study, fiber-reinforced composite coil springs for automobiles were manufactured using the braiding method, and mechanical tests and damage evaluation were performed to confirm their safety. Through the analysis of the load-displacement behavior, the stiffness of the springs was evaluated to meet the specifications. In addition, the distribution of voids and the impregnation rate on the spring wire section were analyzed to clearly understand the criteria for the mechanical properties of the composite material. Moreover, the tested springs were visually inspected to confirm the damaged parts, and the failure mode was analyzed by observing crack initiation and propagation behavior of cross-sectional samples taken from the crack and failure adjacent areas of springs using SEM.

  • This paper relates to fabrication processing analysis of metal matrix composites by the injection of liquid metal into a fibrous preforms. One dimensional heat transfer analysis during squeeze infiltration process of aluminum base composites has been studied. An analysis method was investigated for the temperature distribution, infiltration velocity and melt infiltration characteristics with the commercial preform with short fiber array. When molten metal is infiltrated in a fibrous preform with random orientation, phase transformation will be occurred in a region such as molten metal, solidified region, preform region and infiltration composites region. a mathematical modelling for a solidification phenomena in fabrication process of metal matrix composites using a squeeze infiltration technique was investigated by the basic relations for liquid metal into a fibrous preform. The temperature distribution of theoretical results was compared with experimental data.

  • Impregnation of molten thermoplastic resin into continuous unidirectional fiber bundles was investigated. The degree of impregnation is defined as the ratio between the number of impregnated fibers and the total number of fibers of a bundle. The degree of impregnation was modeled as a function of time, impregnation pressure, temperature and tow size assuming the radial inward flow through the fiber bundle is governed by the Darcy's law. The permeability was assumed to be constant. Experiments were performed to evaluate the validity of the medel. Today's T300 graphite fiber bundles and Polyetheretherketone(PEEK) resin was used. A fiber bundle and resin powder were put into a mold and pressure and temperature were applied. After a predetermined time, the sample was taken out and microphotographs of the cross-section were taken. From the microphotographs, the number of impregnated fibers was counted and then the degree of impregnation was determined. Experiments were also performed for different tow sizes. Good agreements were found between the model and the experiments rendering a confidence in the model.

Experimental and Numerical Studies on the Flow Characteristics in Resin Transfer Molding Process (수지이동 성형공정의 유동특성에 관한 실험 및 수치모사 연구)

  • 실제 복합재료 제조공정에 널리 이용되는 등방성 탄소섬유직조와 에폭시수지에 대 해서 수지의 유동을 일방향으로 근사하여 비정상상태 투과계수와 모세관압을 측정하는 실험 을 수행하였고 적층된 섬유직조의 기공율, 금형 주입압력 그리고 섬유직조의 적층수에 따른 수지유동특성을 분석하였다. 또한 금형 충전과정에 대한 유동가시화 실험을 수행하여 유동 선단과 충전시간을 측정하였다. 전체 조업압력에 미치는 모세관압의 영향을 규명하기 위해 일정 유입압력에 따른 금형충전과정에 대하여 유한요소/관할부피 방법을 이용한 수치모사를 수행하였다. 함침공정의 수지유동에서 비정상상태 투과계수는 섬유직조의 기공율에 따라 급 격히 증가하였고 에폭시수의 표면장력에 기인한 모세관압은 기공율 감소에 따라 급격히 증 가하였다. 동일한 기공율에서 섬유직조의 적층수가 증가함에 따라 투과계수와 모세관압은 모두 증가하는 경향을 보였다. 또한실험에서 측정한 모세관압을 고려하여 유동선단과 금형 충전시간을 수치모사방법으로 예측ㄷ한 결과는 유동가시화 실험에의한 결과와 잘 일치함을 보였다. 이결과로부터 낮은 압력에서 조업하는 RTM공정에서 모세관압효과는 유동선단과 금형 충전시간을 예측하는데 기여함을 알수 있다.

  • 건자재로서 나무 결함 중의 하나는 화재에 대한 취약성이다. 본 연구의 목적은 한국에서 자란 리기다 소나무, 밤나무, 굴참나무, 느티나무의 연소성질을 시험하는 것과 건자재로서의 사용에 대한 바람직한 특성을 알아내는 것이며 연소억제를 위해 실온에서 3종류의 암모늄염 즉, ammonium sulfate, monoammonium phosphate, 그리고 diammonium phosphate를 20 wt% 수용액에 각각 리기다 소나무를 함침시켜 건조시킨 후 재료의 난연성을 시험하였다. 콘칼로리미터(ISO 5660-1)를 이용하였고 분석 결과로는 열방출랑을 비롯하여, 가스방출량, 발화점 등을 측정하여 비교분석하였다.

Performance Evaluation of Various Concrete Repair Materials to Corrosion Prevent of Rebar (철근의 부식 방지를 위한 다양한 콘크리트 보수재료들의 성능평가)

  • Structures in our surroundings deteriorate over time due to environmental and chemical factors, resulting in a decrease in their performance. The primary causes of degradation in concrete structures are carbonation, salt damage, and freeze-thaw cycles. Various maintenance methods exist to address these degradation issues. However, research and technological development for existing maintenance methods have been ongoing, but the accuracy and effectiveness of repair materials and techniques have not been extensively validated. Therefore, in this study, we conducted a material performance evaluation of various manufacturers' repair materials. Based on this evaluation, we applied corrosion inhibitors and epoxy, which are the methods most closely related to crack repair, to assess the durability performance against carbonation, salt damage, and freeze-thaw cycles. The results show approximately a two-fold performance improvement against carbonation and salt damage, and a 5% enhancement in repair performance against freeze-thaw cycles. Thus, it is considered effective in preventing rebar corrosion when appropriate maintenance is carried out according to environmental and chemical factors during structural repairs.
