  • In this paper, we propose system access control software that improves the survivability of the naval combat system while maintaining security and stability. The software was improved by improving the operating environment configuration and user authentication process of the system access control software that constitutes the naval combat system, defining the operating environment classification of the naval combat system, and applying a software parallel execution process considering the load rate. Through this, the waiting time required to configure the environment is shortened, providing rapid operation to the operator, and improving the fact that the naval combat system cannot be operated unless the environment configuration is completed even in emergency situations. In order to test the performance, a test environment was created by simulating the existing naval combat system, and the execution time for each operation category was measured and compared. Compared to the existing naval combat system, the execution time of the basic combat system was reduced by about 69.3%, the execution time of the combat system was reduced by about 54.9%, and the execution time of the integrated combat system was confirmed to be reduced by about 8.4%.

  • Naval CMS(Combat Management System) is linked to various sensors and weapon equipment and use DDS(Data Distribution Service) for efficient data communication between ICU(Interface Control Unit) Node and IPN(Information Processing Node). In order to use DDS, software in the system communicates in an PUB/SUB(Publication/Subscribe) based on DDS topic. If the DDS messages structure in this PUB/SUB method does not match, problems such as incorrect command processing and wrong information delivery occur in sending and receiving application software. To improve this, this paper proposes a DDS message structure integrity verification method. To improve this, this paper proposes a DDS message structure integrity verification method using a hash tree. To verify the applicability of the proposed method to Naval CMS, the message integrity verification rate of the proposed method was measured, and the integrity verification method was applied to CMS and the initialization time of the existing combat management system was compared and the hash tree generation time of the message structures was measured to understand the effect on the operation and development process of CMS. Through this test, It was confirmed that the message structure verification method for system stability proposed in this paper can be applied to the Naval CMS.

  • Naval combat systems use real-time processing and compositing of collected information to provide the optimal combat capabilities that maximize survival and ensure mission effectiveness. The software for a combat system has dozens to thousands of components depending on the size of the system, and the communication between the components is achieved via DDS. Although the message interface of the combat system is managed through MDMS, an increase in the system size can result in problems such as the deterioration of the development efficiency. In this paper, we implement XMDMS to operate a distributed processing environment and then solve the problem of the reduction in the development efficiency caused by a load at the server. The experimental results shows that XMDMS improves the processing delay and network performance compared to MDMS.

  • Since AlphaGo's Match in 2016, there has been a growing calls for artificial intelligence applications in various industries, and research related to it has been actively conducted. The same is true in the military field, and since there has been no weapon system with artificial intelligence so far, effort to implement it are posing a challenge. Meanwhile, AlphaGo Zero, which beat AlphaGo, showed that artificial intelligence's self-training data-based approach can lead to better results than the knowledge-based approach by humans. Taking this point into consideration, this paper proposes to apply Reinforcement Learning, which is the basis of AlphaGo Zero, to the Shipboard Combat System or Combat Management System. This is how an artificial intelligence application to the Shipboard Combat System or Combat Management System that allows the optimal tactical assist with a constant win rate to be recommended to the user, that is, the commanding officer and operation personnel. To this end, the definition of the combat performance of the system, the design plan for the Shipboard Combat System, the mapping with the real system, and the training system are presented to smoothly apply the current operations.

  • This research has conducted high availability system modeling to assure the reliability of shipboard combat systems. Shipboard combat system is a way for efficient execution of duty and a crucial battlefield management system that determines the outcome of battle in the modern war. Especially in regard to a network-centric operational environment in the future, even 1% of malfunction can lead to fatal consequences for the outcome of war. So combat system should be designed by high availability system which is a "always-on" service. In this point of view, This work describes an architecture-based various high availability model and proposed alternative high available systems that can achieve more than 99.9999% accuracy at a minimum. This paper also provides an applicable model with which system engineers analyze out system failure and recovery process by employing computerized tools.

  • In this paper, we analyze the structure of TV video software, one of the warship combat management system software, and propose a standard architecture that minimizes software modification due to the discontinuation replacement of warship hardware. The class structure was newly designed to minimize the class modified when replacing the warship hardware by separating the variable elements and common elements of TV video software through FORM(Feature-Oriented Reuse Method), the common part that communicates with the warship combat management system and displays the TV screen and the variable part that communicates between the operator and the TV camera. In addition, the Strategy design pattern is applied to efficiently add and modify classes that directly use hardware-dependent APIs when replacing hardware discontinuation, and to make both discontinued and replacements available software. Finally, the reliability testing time and functional testing time of the existing TV video software and the proposed software were measured and compared, and finally, it was confirmed that the hardware discontinuation replacement cost was reduced.

  • System support software is one of the software that makes up ship combat management system and has the characteristics of being mounted in the combat management systems of all ships but with little functional change. However, despite these characteristics, software modifications due to equipment, etc. are inevitable in the application of new ships. Modification of software causes software reliability testing which is a key factor in increasing development costs. In this paper, the structure of the existing system support software was analyzed to identify and supplement the code change factors, and the system support standardization architecture was designed. The feature model elicited common and variable elements of system support software, and applied white-box reuse to improve software design. In addition, the results of comparing existing system support software with the new architecture in terms of development elements and time to perform reliability test were presented to verify the effectiveness of the new one.

  • The naval combat system is gradually evolving, actively accepting technological advances. The domain components of the naval combat system must also be adapted to the gradual evolution of the naval battle system. In other words, domain components should be easy to change. However, existing domain components do not fully consider changeability. In particular, when receiving more messages than planned from the middleware, it does not consider a way to process them in a timely manner. We propose a domain component reference architecture for timely processing of increased messages. The proposed architecture separates domain components so that business logic can operate independently, and sets up multiple business logic to operate simultaneously to handle increased messages. The track management domain component is designed using the proposed reference architecture to confirm the applicability.
