In this paper, a new interpolation model for the head related transfer function (HRTF) was proposed. In the method herein, we assume that the impulse response of the HRTF for each azimuth angle is given by linear interpolation of the time-delayed neighboring impulse responses of HRTFs. The time delay of the HRTF for each azimuth angle is given by sum of the sound wave propagation time from the ears to the sound source, which can be estimated by using azimuth angle, the physical shape of the underlying head and the distance between the head and sound source, and the refinement time yielding the minimum mean square error. Moreover, in the proposed model, the interpolation intervals were not fixed but varied, which were determined by minimizing the total number of HRTFs while the synthesized signals have no perceptual difference from the original signals in terms of sound location. To validate the usefulness of the proposed interpolation model, the proposed model was applied to the several HRTFs that were obtained from one dummy-head and three human heads. We used the HRTFs that have 5 degree azimuth angle resolution at 0 degree elevation (horizontal plane). The experimental results showed that using only $30\sim40%$ of the original HRTFs were sufficient for producing the signals that have no audible differences from the original ones in terms of sound location.
In this paper, we propose a novel residual differential pulse-code modulation (RDPCM) coding technique to improve coding efficiency of screen content videos. The proposed method uses a weighted combination of adjacent residues to provide an accurate estimate in RDPCM. The weights are trained in previously coded samples by using an L1 optimization problem with the least absolute shrinkage and selection operation (LASSO). The proposed method achieves BD-rate saving about 3.1% in all-intra coding.

In this paper, we consider the design problem of robust stabilization and robust guaranteed cost state feedback controller for discrete-time singular systems with parameter uncertainties by LMI(linear matrix inequality) approach without semi-definite condition and decomposition of system matrices. The objective of robust stabilization controller is to construct a state feedback controller such that the closed-loop system is regular, causal, and stable. In the case of robust guaranteed cost control, the optimal value of guaranteed cost and controller design method are presented on the basis of robust stabilization control technique. Finally, a numerical example is provided to show the validity of the design methods.

The commercial development of unconventional gas is pursued in North America because it is more feasible owing to the technology required to improve productivity. Shale reservoir have low permeability and gas production can be carried out through cracks generated by hydraulic fracturing. The decline rate during the initial production period is high, but very low latter on, there are significant variations from the initial production behavior. Therefore, in the prediction of the production rate using deterministic decline curve analysis(DCA), it is not possible to consider the uncertainty in the production behavior. In this study, production rate of the Eagle Ford shale is predicted by Arps Hyperbolic and Modified SEPD. To minimize the uncertainty in predicting the Estimated Ultimate Recovery(EUR), Monte Carlo simulation is used to multi-wells analysis. Also, kernel density function is applied to determine probability distribution of decline curve factors without any assumption.
This paper presents the design method of an impedance matching network using an isolation transformer and the Chebyshev filter function for the high efficiency and the flat power driving of an underwater acoustic piezoelectric transducer. The proposed impedance matching network is designed for minimizing the reactance component of transducer and having the flat power response in the wide frequency range. We design a low pass filter with ladder-type circuit using the Chebyshev function as standard prototype filter function. In addition, we design the impedance matching network which is suitable for the equivalent circuit of transducer and the turn ratio of transformer through the bandpass frequency transformation. The proposed method is applied to the simulated dummy load of the tonpilz-type transducer operating in the middle frequency range. The simulation results are compared with the measured characteristics and the validity of the proposed method is verified.

The weighting method and goal programming require weighting factors or target values to obtain a Pareto optimal solution. However, it is difficult to define these parameters, and a Pareto solution is not guaranteed when the choice of the parameters is incorrect. Recently, the Mahalanobis Taguchi System (MTS) has been introduced to minimize the Mahalanobis distance (MD). However, the MTS method cannot obtain a Pareto optimal solution. We propose a function called the skewed Mahalanobis distance (SMD) to obtain a Pareto optimal solution while retaining the advantages of the MD. The SMD is a new distance scale that multiplies the skewed value of a design point by the MD. The weighting factors are automatically reflected when the SMD is calculated. The SMD always gives a unique Pareto optimal solution. To verify the efficiency of the SMD, we present two numerical examples and show that the SMD can obtain a unique Pareto optimal solution without any additional information.

In the case of failure images with controlling lighting like backlighting and excessive frontlinghting, the compensation scheme for a specific area in an image is required. The interested region is first selected by user in our method to compensate the first frame. Then we define the matching function of brightness and energy function is proposed with weight of matching function and the relationship among the neighbors. Finally, the energy is minimized by the graph-cut algorithm to compensate the brightness of the first frame. Other frames are straightforwardly compensated using the results of the first frame. The brightness variations of the previous frame is transmitted to the next frame via motion vectors. The reliability of the brightness variation is calculated based on the motion vector reliability. Video compensation result is achieved by the process of the image case. Simulation show that the proposed algorithm provides more natural results than the conventional algorithms.

The structural deformed shape is important information to structural analysis. If the sufficient measuring points are secured at the structural monitoring system, reasonable and accurate structural deformation shapes can be obtained and structural analysis is possible using this deformation. However, the accurate estimation of the global structural shapes might be difficult if sufficient measuring points are not secure under cost limitations. In this study, SFSM-LS algorithm, the economic and effective estimation method for the structural deformation shapes with limited displacement measuring points is developed and suggested. In the suggested method, the global structural deformation shape is determined by the superposition of the pre-investigated structural deformed shapes obtained by preliminary FE analyses, with their optimum weight factors which lead minimization of the estimate errors. 2-span continuous bridge model is used to verify developed algorithm and parametric studies are performed. By the parametric studies, the characteristics of the estimation results obtained by the suggested method were investigated considering essential parameters such as pre-investigated structural shapes, locations and numbers of displacement measuring points. By quantitative comparison of estimation results with the conventional methods such as polynomial, Lagrange and spline interpolation, the applicability and accuracy of the suggested method was validated.
This study presents a design method for three-span continuous preflex composite girder bridges (3S-PCB) which imposes prestresses in the negative moment region by lifting or lowering interior supports and the design method is automated by a computer program which incorporates optimal design procedure. The objective function for the design of 3S-PCB minimizes the cost of construction materials and the constraint functions represent the limited dimensions of the design section and the allowable stress for each structural member as given in the specifications. Optimal design procedure used in this study is a modification of existing sequential unconstrained minimization technique (SUMT), a numerical analyses procedure for two-span continuous preflex composite bridges. The optimized design sections determined for each span length are compared with those of simple preflex composite beams (SPCB) and the optimal girder depth is determined by defining the relationship between girder depth and construction material costs.
