The response surface method (RSM) is widely adopted for the structural reliability analysis because of its numerical efficiency. However, the RSM is still time consuming for large-scale applications and sometimes shows large errors in the calculation of sensitivity of reliability index with respect to random variables. Therefore, this study proposes a new RSM in which moving least squares (MLS) approximation is applied. Least squares approximation generally used in the common RSM gives equal weight to the coefficients of the response surface function (RSF). On the other hand, The MLS approximation gives higher weight to the experimental points closer to the design point, which yields the RSF more similar to the limit state at the design point. In the procedure of the proposed method, a linear RSF is constructed initially and then a quadratic RSF is formed using the axial experimental points selected from the reduced region where the design point is likely to exist. The RSF is updated successively by adding one more experimental point to the previously sampled experimental points. In order to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method, mathematical problems and ten-bar truss are considered as numerical examples. As a result, the proposed method shows better accuracy and computational efficiency than the common RSM.
I presented three vector crustal magnetic anomaly components and six gradients by using spherical Slepian functions over the cap area of $20^{\circ}$ of radius centered on the South Pole. The Swarm mission, launched by European Space Agency(ESA) in November of 2013, was planned to put three satellites into the low-Earth orbits, two in parallel in East-West direction and one in cross-over of the higher altitude. This orbit configuration will make the gradient measurements possible in North-South direction, vertical direction, as well as E-W direction. The gravity satellites, such as GRACE and GOCE, have already implemented their gradient measurements for recovering the accurate gravity of the Earth and its temporal variation due to mass changes on the subsurface. However, the magnetic gradients have little been applied since Swarm launched. A localized magnetic modeling method is useful in taking an account for a region where data availability was limited or of interest was special. In particular, computation to get the localized solutions is much more efficient and it has an advantage of presenting high frequency anomaly features with numbers of solutions fewer than the global ones. Besides, these localized basis functions that were done by a linear transformation of the spherical harmonic functions, are orthogonal so that they can be used for power spectrum analysis by transforming the global spherical harmonic coefficients. I anticipate in scientific and technical progress in the localized modeling with the gradient measurements from Swarm and here will do discussion on the results of the localized solution to represent the three vector and six gradient anomalies over the Antarctic area from the synthetic data derived from a global solution of the spherical harmonics for the crustal magnetic anomalies of Swarm measurements.

This paper presents an instantaneous voltage control scheme of au킹liary power supply system for the electric railway v vehicles, The resonance problem of the LC filter and the existing steady state error are more serious as the use of l instantaneous voltage control techniques for the fast transient response at the nonlinear load, A filter capacitor current f feedback loop is considered to increase the damping ratio of the voltage transfer function for the suppression of the resonance problem of the LC inverter output filter. To eliminate the steady state en‘or existing in case of the AC l instantaneous voltage control. the high gain transfer function is added to the conventional PI controller. The theoretical a analysis is well described with the simulation results. The validity of the proposed schemes is well verified through the s simulation and expelimental results for the 5 kVA prototype.

In this study, a form-finding method of tensegrity systems by using the force density method combined with the stiffness matrix method was presented. Numerous studies have been made on form-finding methods of the tensegrity systems. However, these methods are limited in the tensegrity systems with multiple null space of the equilibrium matrix. The proposed method can uniquely define a single integral feasible set of force densities for the structures. In order to draw maximum natural frequency that can lead a maximum stiffness of the tensegrity systems, a constrained maximization problem is formulated in the genetic algorithm. Several numerical examples are presented to prove dfficiency in searching for self-equilibrium congifurations of tensegrity systems with multiple self-stress states. A good performance of the proposed method has been shown in the results.
In this paper, a blind nonlinear channel equalization is implemented by using a Modified Fuzzy C-Means (MFCM) algorithm. The proposed MFCM searches the optimal channel output states of a nonlinear channel from the received symbols, based on the Bayesian likelihood fitness function instead of a conventional Euclidean distance measure. Next, the desired channel states of a nonlinear channel are constructed with the elements of estimated channel output states, and placed at the center of a Radial Basis Function (RBF) equalizer to reconstruct transmitted symbols. In the simulations, binary signals are generated at random with Gaussian noise. The performance of the proposed method is compared with that of a hybrid genetic algorithm (GA merged with simulated annealing (SA): GASA), and the relatively high accuracy and fast searching speed are achieved.
In this paper, a gain-adapted speech recognition method in noise is developed in the time domain. Noise is assumed to be colored. To cope with the notable nonstationary nature of speech signals such as fricative, glides, liquids, and transition region between phones, the nonstationary autoregressive (NAR) hidden Markov model (HMM) is used. The nonstationary AR process is represented by using polynomial functions with a linear combination of M known basis functions. When only noisy signals are available, the estimation problem of noise inevitably arises. By using multiple Kalman filters, the estimation of noise model and gain contour of speech is performed. Noise estimation of the proposed method can eliminate noise from noisy speech to get an enhanced speech signal. Compared to the conventional ARHMM with noise estimation, our proposed NAR-HMM with noise estimation improves the recognition performance about 2-3%.
Significant improvements in bond strength between new and existing concrete can be achieved through the modification of the new concrete by latex. This study focuses on the investigation of bond strength of latex modified concrete. Pull-out bond test and uniaxial direct tensile bond test are adopted for evaluating the adhesion characteristics of latex modified concrete to conventional concrete substrate. The main experimental variables are test methods, latex-cement ratio, surface preparations and moisture levels. The results are as follows; The increase of latex-cement ratio substantially improves the adhesion between latex modified concrete and substrate. The effects of surface preparation at substrate into the bonding of latex modified concrete are quite different according to the conditions of surfaces. Thus, an adequate surface preparations are essential for good bond strength. Because the moisture level of the substrate may be critical to achieving bond, optimum moisture condition for a conventional concrete has evaluated in this study. The saturated condition of surface is the most appropriate moisture level among the considered, followed by dry condition and wet condition.

In this note, a systematic design of a new robust nonlinear continuous variable structure control system(VSCS) based on the modified state dependent nonlinear form is presented for the control of uncertain affine nonlinear systems with mismatched uncertainties and matched disturbance. After an affine uncertain nonlinear system is represented in the form of state dependent nonlinear system, a systematic design of a new robust nonlinear VSCS is presented. The uncertainty of the nonlinear system function is separated into the tow parts, i.e., state dependent term and state independent term for extension of target plants. To be linear in the closed loop resultant dynamics and in order to easily satisfy the existence condition of the sliding mode, the transformed linear sliding surface is applied. A corresponding control input is proposed to satisfy the closed loop exponential stability and the existence condition of the sliding mode on the linear transformed sliding surface, which will be investigated in Theorem 1. For practical application, the discontinuity of the control input as the inherent property of the VSS is improved dramatically. Through a design example and simulation studies, the usefulness of the proposed controller is verified.
This study was conducted to investigate the penetration of PEG for conservation treatment conditions of archaeological waterlogged wood. The weight percent gain was examined, depending on the solvent of PEG, concentration and treatment period and temperature of treatment solutions. The penetration of PEG in the cell lumina of treatment woods was observed by scanning electron microscope. The results showed that the type of solvents had no influence on PEG penetration. In the concentration of the PEG treatment solutions, the weight percent gains (WPGs) were increased with increase in concentration of PEG. In terms of the period of the soaking treatment, a maximum WPGs were obtained for only 20 days. There was no distinctive difference in the WPGs by difference the temperature of the treatment. In conclusion, in the conservation of small size of archaeological waterlogged wood, it is confirmed that optimal solvent type and treatment period of PEG are water and 20 days, respectively.
