Study on the Dietary Habit, Nutrient Intake, and Health Status According to Their Majors Among College Women in Sahmyook University (삼육대학교 여대생의 전공에 따른 식습관, 영양소섭취상태 및 건강습관에 관한 비교)

  • This study was conducted to compare the dietary habits, nutrient intake and health status of female college students at Sahmyook University according to their majors. Specifically, women majoring in literature and science (77), food and nutrition (103) and sport (73) were evaluated. College women in the sports department were more likely to have a part-time job and had greater expenses than women in the other departments. The average height of college women in the sports department (164.3${\pm}$4.6 cm) was 2.04 cm taller than that of women with other majors (162.3${\pm}$4.7 cm). College women in the department of literature and science were more likely to have an unbalanced diet, even though they commonly ate small amounts of fruit as snacks. They were more prone to take nutrient tablets and vitamins when compared to women in the other departments. College women in the department of sport were more likely to have unbalanced meals (31.5%) and to overeat. Students in the department of food and nutrition ate more fruit, vitamin C and E but less cholesterol containing foods (p<0.05), less fast food and fried food than students in the other departments. The subjects in the department of sport ate less bread, sweet potatoes, fast foods and fried foods but more calories, fat, vitamin A, vitamin B, niacin, Ca, P and cholesterol than students in the other departments (p<0.05). They were also more likely to exercise for more than two hours a day. The most common problems among college women were going without meals, eating an unbalanced diet, overeating, intake of ill-balanced nutrients and lack of exercise. It was found that college women in the department of sport had a better intake of nutrients and maintained healthier life styles.

A Study on the Effect of Mindfulness for Female University Students in Stress: A Preliminary Study for focusing on the moderating effect of Positive Affect and Negative Affect Schedule (마음챙김이 여대생의 스트레스에 미치는 영향: PA/NA조절효과를 중심으로 한 예비연구)

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of mindfulness on the stress of university students' lives, and to verify that Positive Affect & Negative Affect have a moderating effect in the relationship between the two variables. The Mindful Attention Awareness Scale, Positive Affect & Negative Affect Schedule, and the life stress scale for college student were utilized for 243 female university students at K Women's University. First of all, Mindfulness of female university affected the stress of college students' lives. Second, Positive Affect did not have a moderating effect in the relationship between female college student's mindfulness and stress. Third, In the relationship between mindfulness and stress, female college students showed a moderating effect. In conclusion, female university students' awareness of mindfulness helped lower interpersonal stress, current task stress, and decreased Negative Affect. The discussion discussed the limitations of this study and the future direction of the study.

A Convergence study the Effect of the social capital discovery program on empowerment and career preparation activity of female college students (사회적자본찾기 프로그램이 여대생의 임파워먼트와 진로준비행동에 미치는 영향에 관한 융합연구)

  • This research was convergence study conducted to understand the effect that a recovery program for social capital has on empowerment and career preparation activity in female college students. The subjects were female college students located in K city, and Experimental Group 30, Control Group 30 questionnaires were used as the data for analysis. As a result of this study, it was discovered that there was a statistically significant difference in personally-internal, political and social areas in the sub-areas of empowerment in female college students while there was no significant difference in personal relationships. Also, in the sub-area of career preparation activity in female college students in the recovery program for social capital, information collection activity and practice activity were different and the differences were statistically significant. It is suggested that further studies are needed on recovery programs for social capital for improved empowerment, career preparation behavior and usability.

A Study on the Mediating Effects of Job-stress on the Relationship between the Female College Students' Self-oriented Perfectionism and Binge Eating (여대생의 자기지향 완벽주의와 폭식증의 관계에서 취업스트레스의 매개효과 연구)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the binge eating of university women and to discuss whether there was a mediating effect of job-stress. This study conducted a survey of 325 university women using the self-oriented perfectionism, job-stress and binge eating. Descriptive, correlation statistics with SPSS 18.0 and structural equation analysis with AMOS 20.0 was performed. The results of this study were as follows. First, the binge eating of female university students was lower than intermediate level. Second, the self-oriented perfectionism of female university students had a meaningful positive influence on the binge eating. Third, the job-stress had a partial mediating effect between the self-oriented perfectionism and the binge eating. As a result of this research, comprehensive implications were suggested for interventions.

The Effect of Regular Exercise on Body Fat Contents and Blood Lipid Compositon of College Women (규칙적인 운동습관이 여대생의 체지방량 및 혈중 지질초성에 미치는 영향)

  • The purpose of this study was to compare to the effects of regular exercise on body fat contents and plasma lipid composition of college women. This study was conducted from May to August in 2000. The subjects selected for the experiment were composed sixty three female college students. The basal anthropometric measurements were performed. The levels of total cholesterol, HDL-cholesterol, triglyceride and fatty acid composition of plasma were determined. And plasma glucose concentrations was also assayed. The results obtained are summerized as follows : Average height and weight of E(exercise) group were found to be slightly higher than NE(non exercise) group. The percent of body fat and body fat mass (kg) in E group was slightly lowered than that of NE group. There was decreased on the levels of plasma total cholesterol, triglyceride by regular exercise. HDL-cholesterol level was not significantly different between two groups, but LDL-cholesterol level in E group was significantly lowered than that of NE group. Therefore, plasma total cholesterol and LDL cholesterol levels was significantly decreased by regular exercise.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of alcohol drinking motivation on the drinking behaviors of female college students. It is necessary to examine the drinking behavior of female college students not only for their academic performance and health status but also for future reproduction concerns. The subjects of this study included 296 college students in their 20s. Research data was analyzed using SPSS 24.0 and AMOS 22 statistical programs. Results of this study found academic and human relationships had the greatest effect on the stress level of female college students. In addition, the perception of drinking was more influential on the drinking problem, and female college students who perceived anxiety through the drinking problem tried to change the behavior of drinking. Also, the perception of drinking by the influence of alcohol was more significant than that of drinking by college students who perceived anxiety through drinking problem. Second, if drinking is beneficial in the internal or external motivation of the individual, it maintains drinking behaviors and changes the behavior of drinking when experiencing the problem of drinking. Through these results, we aim to contribute to the reduction of the negative risk of alcohol by understanding the drinking preference of female college students and examining the drinking culture according to drinking motives.

A Study on Correlations between Dietary Nutrients and Body Composition of College Students (남녀 대학생의 영양소 섭취 상태와 체성분 조성의 상관관계)

  • A survey was conducted for 221 male and 191 female college students to study correlations between dietary food intakes and body composition. Among the subjects 75 male and 82 female students were analyzed body protein mass, body mineral mass, percent body fat, waist-hip ratio (WHR), body mass index (BMI) and fitness score using Inbody 3.0. The results show that 94.6% of the males and 24.7% of the females were observed at high level in body protein mass. As for body mineral mass, 86.4% of the males were observed below the normal range. As for WHR, 32.1% of the males and 43.5% of the females were evaluated as abdominal obesity. As for BMI, 34.8% of the males were observed above the normal range. In female students, correlation coefficient between sodium intakes and age showed significantly negative 0.232 while correlation between calcium intakes and self-reported health status showed significantly positive 0.234. In males, correlation coefficient between fiber intakes and self-reported health status resulted in significantly positive 0.237 and that between BMI and age showed significantly positive 0.276. In females, correlation coefficient between type of living and WHR showed significantly positive 0.253 and that between self-reported health status and percent body fat showed significantly positive 0.230. Also correlation coefficient between body protein mass and sodium intakes showed significantly negative 0.276 in female students.

  • This paper compared the money beliefs and behaviors and the experiences of four different groups of female college students using furnham's(1984) money Beliefs and Behaviors (MBBS) scale. These four groups were Korean, Japanese, Korean-American, and Japanese American. Two hundreds of female college students were surveyed. Results from an exploratory factor analysis of the MBBS indicate the four factors: Obsession, Power, Anxiety, and Budget. There were significant differences in factors of the money beliefs and behaviors and the selected variables of the money experiences among compared four groups.

Relationships between body type perception and emotional intelligence and sexual assertiveness of female college students (여대생의 체형인식 및 감성지능과 성적자기주장의 관계)

  • This study was conducted to identify the relationships between body type perception and emotional intelligence and sexual assertiveness of female college students. The study participants were 288 nursing students of two universities in Chungnam province. Data were collected by a self-administered questionnaire from March 1 to May 20, 2017. Collected data were analyzed using the IBM SPSS 20.0 program. The higher the emotional intelligence, the higher the sexual assertiveness(r=.25, p<.001), but sexual assertiveness according to body type perception were not significant. Factors influencing sexual assertiveness were religion, time of first relationship, body mass index, and emotional intelligence, which accounted 18.7%. Therefore, interventions for improving sexual assertiveness of female college students should include interventions for improving emotional intelligence. Studies on the relationship between body type perception and sexual assertiveness of female college students should be conducted.

  • 본 연구는 공과대학 여대생의 취업 준비 현황을 조사하고 이를 지원할 수 있는 개선안을 제안하는 것을 목적으로 하였다. 4년제 대학교의 공과대학 여대생 167명을 대상으로 설문을 실시하였다. 연구결과, 첫째 목표를 설정한 여대생은 절반 이하 수준으로 나타났다. 두 번째로 취업을 위해 가장 필요한 능력이자 부족한 능력으로 전공활용능력을 꼽았다. 연구결과에 따라 취업준비지원의 개선안을 제안하였다.
