  • This study examined adaptational aspects by analyzing culture contents, which use Jeju myth "Chasabonpuri" as a writing material. "Chasabonpuri" has a heroic narration of Ganglim, who becomes the grim reaper by solving the serious problem through a journey to the world beyond. Also, it has a value as an archetypal narration because of its reflection on Korean world view of afterlife. Culture contents, which use "Chasabonpuri" as a writing material, have features of 'accurate reproduction of heroic narration' (Ganglim who becomes the grim reaper), 'tragic conversion of narration through humanization' (The way home), 'extension of narration through merging with traditional and modern elements'(Together with God), 'Unique view of the world that reflects the contemporary trend' (Ghost Messenger).

  • In this paper, nitrogen-doped reduced graphene oxide(rGO) is obtained by thermal annealing of nitrogen-containing compounds and graphene oxide (GO) manufactured by modified Hummers' method. We use melamine as a nitrogen-containing compound and treat GO thermally with melamine at over $800{\sim}1,000^{\circ}C$ and 1 ~ 3 hr under Ar atmosphere. The electrical conductivity of doped rGO is measured by 4-point probe method. As a result, nitrogen contents on rGO are found to be in the range of 2.5 to 12.5 at% depending on the doping conditions after thermal annealing. The main doping site on graphene oxide is changed from pyridinic-N and pyrrolinic N to the graphitic site as the heat treatment temperature increases. The electrical conductivity of doped rGO increases as the N doping content increases. As the thermal treatment time increases, the change of both total doping contents and doping sites is slight and the surface resistance is remarkably reduced, which is caused by healing effects of doped graphene oxide at high temperature.

  • This study is based on semiotic analysis with a focus on film 'Veteran'. The film is to the reproduced movie in the sign for social problems facing our society. The purpose of this study is to interpreted the implication is that referents and presents of the film to be directed by semiotic. The methodology is the study that the Saussure's semiology as a signifier and signified, and Peirce's semiotic as iconic, index, symbols in contemporary scholars. The Semiotics is analyzed on the basis myth and ideology of Barth. The film director thinks the 'veteran' was replaced by the implications of the role of the actor as a signifier that is the out referent of our society. Thus, the film was sublimated into more than the real as myth in our society desires. So, our society is to implement the right ideas as ideologies process. that is, rewarding the good and punishing the evil, and eventually implement justice society. The implications of this study is going to create a society that is not for specific groups tycoon, is for mutual dependence like the interpretation of the song of the film veteran.

  • Hayao Miyazaki provides pleasure which go beyond the barrier of culture and language through realizing pan-cultural and mythical space which can communicate with the audience through unique, aesthetic expression. In his animation storytelling, diverse tangible and intangible symbolic elements based on the traditional culture inherent to Japan are actively utilized, and he provides the audience with the aesthetic pleasure of arbitrary interpretation and contemplation by composing the system of connotative signification through such symbols. In this process, he creates the value of the system of meaning which clearly conveys the mythical message of connotative meaning of the work through the aesthetic form based on the universal experience of confrontation and coexistence. It can be said that this is the communicative value of animation storytelling pursued by Hayao.

  • This paper closely examines Popol Vuh, regarded as the Bible of the Mayans, from the perspective of the Deep Ecology. Deep ecology is a concept born out of the criticisms on the existing environmental movements as superficial, and encourages the moral and ethical change of the man's attitude towards the nature, inevitably becoming "metaphysical" in character. As such the Deep ecology advocates the break away from the anthropocentricism, the dichotomous thinking and the rationalism of the modern times. Popol Vuh is a text that contains such concepts and it requires an analysis from the Deep ecological perspective beyond the existing framework of the study that simply focuses on mythological elements.

  • In this study, I would like to review how our ancestors understood and used caves for which purposes, and also to research the good use of caves as residential area, myths and tales, proverbs and civilian religions through folk customs' approach to caves. in pre-historic age, I understood that the caves was used for residential area and for food life by various archeological data. I could review the meaning of caves through Dangoon myth and deeply comprehend the caves, as every cave has it's own tales related with mysterious world. Caves are spotlighting as proverbs related with unknown world, and the caves as prayer place and mental training place, and also as foods warehouse, military facility, and play space I.E sightseeing place from a viewpoint of modern living folk customs.

  • This essay interpreted and analyzed 3 Bonpuri (shamanic rituals) of Jeju Island from Jungian perspectives. These rituals (Chokong, Euigong, and Samgong Bonpuri) includes myths about gods who have both anthropomorphic and supreme aspects. 3 myths showed significant psychological motifs such as hieros gamos, parental complex, ethics, numinose, creativity, and return to the origin. Compared to other religious worshipping ceremony such as shamanism in North America, sufism, and tantraism, similar psychological motifs are discussed. Understanding and amplifying the psychological symbols and process related these motifs may help analysis to be more meaningful and revivifying the human psyche especially in distress and sadness.
