A Study on Regional difference of Campus Life Adaptation on Baccalaureate Nursing Students in National universities. (국립간호대학생의 지역 간 대학생활 적응차이에 관한 연구)

  • This study was conducted to provide information of effective student guidance in nursing education. The sample consisted of 103 nursing students in the area of Seoul and 143 students in Cholla Province. Data were collected by using a questionnaire, which consisted of items about personnal campus life and their major. The results are summarized as follows: 1. There was on significant difference in campus life adaptation on nursing students between Seoul and local areas. 2. In Seoul area, there was no significant difference in campus life adaptation according to academic years. In local area, significant difference was revealed in the academic years. The scores of campus life adaptation were possitively correlated with their academic years. 3. The variables which can be explained in the regional difference were social recognition of nursing and a family atmosphere. In conclusion, the results of the study indicate that, in Seoul and local areas, the personal and educational backgrounds of campus life adaptation were equalized. In addition, it is very important that the counselling on choice of major should be provided to high school students.

The Relations between Self-efficacy, Social support, College life adaptation and Academic achievement of Nursing students (간호대학생의 자기효능감과 사회적 지지, 대학생활 적응 및 학업성취도와의 관계)

  • Purpose. This study was to explore the relations between self-efficacy, social support, college life adaptation and academic achievement of nursing students. Method. A descriptive study was conducted with a sample of 209 students enrolled in one college located in D City, and the data were collected during from May 14, to June 10, 2017. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, One way-ANOVA, and Pearson's correlation coefficient SPSS/WIN 21.0 programs. Results. Mean score for academic achievement was 3.06/4.5. Among college life adaptation there were significant differences between gender (t=9.13, p=.003), grade (F=7.07, p<.001). There were correlated between academic achievement in the nursing students, self-efficacy (r=.33, p<.001), social support (r=.31, p<.001), and college life adaptation (r=.42, p<.001). And there were correlated between self-efficacy (r=.16, p=.022), and social support (r=.22, p=.002). Conclusion. It was found that a higher degree of self-efficacy and social support, college life adaptation and academic achievement of nursing students. Therefore, to increase the academic achievement, between the social support, self-efficacy and college life adaptation are recommended.

The Influence of Nursing Professionalism and Academic Emotional Regulation on College Life Adjustment in Nursing College Students (간호대학생의 간호전문직관과 학업적 정서조절이 대학생활 적응에 미치는 영향)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship between nursing professionalism, academic emotional regulation, and college life adjustment level and to identify the influence of nursing professionalism and academic emotional regulation on college life adjustment. Methods: Data collection was conducted with 142 junior and senior nursing college students using structured self-reported questionnaires. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, independent t-tests, one-way ANOVA, Pearson correlation coefficient, and hierarchical multiple regression analysis using SPSS 22.0. Results: There was a positive correlation between nursing professionalism, academic emotional adjustment, and college life adjustment. The significant predictors of overall college life adjustment were major satisfaction, nursing professionalism, and academic emotional regulation. The significant predictors of clinical practice adjustment were gender, major satisfaction, and nursing professionalism. Conclusion: When developing a program to improve college life adjustment in nursing college students, it is necessary to find ways to improve nursing professionalism and academic emotional regulation as well as major satisfaction.

Factors Interpersonal Relation Disposition and College Life Stress on College Life Adjustment of the Dental Hygiene Students (치위생과 학생들의 대인관계성향 및 대학생활 스트레스가 대학생활적응에 미치는 영향)

  • Objectives: The purpose is to prepare measures to effectively improve college life adaptation by identifying relevance between interpersonal relation disposition and college life adaptation, college life stress and college life adaptation for dental hygiene students. Methods: 375 dental hygiene students attending some local universities in Gyeonggi-do were sampled for convenience. The results of this study are as follows. Results: First, As a result of interpersonal relation disposition according to general characteristics, superiority-dominance tendencies were higher in first and third graders, in groups with grades above 4.0 and groups with lower subjective economic levels. And the stress of college life was high for second graders and students with lower grades than 2.0. Second, According to the correlation between factors, governance-dominance, independence-responsibility, sympathy-acceptance, sociable-friendliness, and ostentation-intoxication of interpersonal tendency factors had proportional relationship with college life adaptation, rebellion-distrust and college life stress had inverse relationship. Third, The results of multiple regression analyses to identify factors that affect college students' adaptation to college life were in the order of stress in college life, first grade, sociable-friendliness, second grade, rebellion-distrust. Conclusion: In order to improve college life adaptation, counseling and practical mediation programs should be developed and applied to effectively manage and control the negativity and positivity implied by interpersonal relationships and college life stress.

  • Efforts to improve the quality of university education, that is, advanced plans for innovative university education, are needed in the face of changes in educational demand due to rapid changes in new industries and society and the competition for survival due to a rapidly decreasing school-age population with the full-fledged start of the era of the 4th industrial revolution is being demanded. In particular, it is necessary to apply a system for student counseling and guidance management through college life adjustment diagnosis from students entering college to graduation. Accordingly, each university is promoting a project to upgrade a course-linked integrated platform based on core technologies of the 4th industrial revolution era, such as big data and artificial intelligence (AI). Therefore, in this study, based on the field of information security major, we intend to present a plan to advance the student management system for innovative university education.

  • The purpose of this study is to design career learning program content and to suggest a development plan in order to assist in freshmen's successful adaptation. To accomplish this goal, first, we reviewed the precedent studies on the situations and problems of freshmen and education programs for freshmen. H. university freshmen's needs for support programs were analyzed. Second, a career learning program conceptual model was developed based on the results of precedent studies and program needs analysis. Third, the program contents for enhancing career learning competency were designed, and we suggested a development plan focusing on customized content, emotional support, and on-off line convergence program. It developed career learning tracks, big data analysis, and action planning as main content. The results of this study are expected to be used as basic data for the development and implementation of competency-based customized career learning programs for freshmen, which will help improve the quality of career learning programs and freshmen's adaptability.

The Effect of Equality of Both sexes and Self-esteem on Perception of Dating violence among University students (대학생의 양성평등 의식, 자아존중감이 데이트 폭력 인식에 미치는 영향)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of equality of both sexes and self-esteem on perception of dating violence among university students and presents basic data for helping healthy adaption of university life. A survey was held to the university students in Chungcheong cities from April 28 to May 12, 2018. of 225 copies of the questionnaire distributed, a total of 200 copies were in the final analysis. For data analysis, SPSS 21.0 for Windows was used. As a result, there were correlations between variables, the Perception of dating violence of university students were affected by the Equality of both sexes and Self-esteem. and the largest effect was the Violent experience. In conclusion, it is need to development program and counseling with considering healthy intimate relationship and right gender-role for improving adaption of university life.

The Convergent effect of Ego-resilience, Nursing professionalism, and Social support on Department satisfaction in Nursing Students (간호대학생의 자아탄력성, 간호전문직관, 사회적 지지가 학과만족에 미치는 융복합적 영향)

  • The study were to identify the effect of ego-resilience, nursing professionalism, social support on department satisfaction in nursing students. Data were collected from April to May 2017 from 272 nursing students. The study tools were ego-resilience, nursing professionalism, social support, department satisfaction. The data were analyzed by descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson's correlation coefficients, multiple linear regression using SPSS/WIN 21.0 program. The result showed that the difference in department satisfaction relating to general characteristics were significant for reason for choosing a department, student activity, academic record. The correlation among ego-resilience, nursing professionalism, social support, department satisfaction were significant, and the significant factors influencing department satisfaction in nursing students were social support, nursing professionalism, ego-resilience. It is necessary to find ways to improve the department satisfaction through the activities that can enhance the social support, nursing professionalism, and ego-resilience of nursing students. This will help them adjust to college life.

Relationship between University Student's attributional-style and learning Adaptation Considered in Department Selection (대학생들의 귀인성향과 학과 선택 시 우선고려사항에 따른 학과적응에 미치는 요인)

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the factor giving effect to department selection, learning adaptation and attributional-style after entering school by selecting university students as targets and help high school students who will graduate soon and university students select department and direction. Those were analyzed by using 287 questionnaire data from June 1 to June 30, 2011. The study result revealed that 64.5% of students considered 'popularity and employment prospect' first when they select department. Generally, it was researched that when selecting department, 68.8% of women and 78.7% of health major considered 'popularity and employment prospect'(P<0.05, P<0.01). For learning adaptation and attribution trend of each major, health major showed that learning adaptation was high when motif was high and application score was high and for the relationship with attributional-style, health major showed higher internal attributional-style, showing significant difference(P<0.05). When synthesizing the results above, it is necessary to develop and use the program that can develop internal attribution trend of students on the basis of attributional-style. For planned and careful selection, it is necessary to perform synthetic consulting through direction search program that considers entrance period of middle school or high school, general affairs of university or direction guide to increase department or direction adaptation in the future.

The Effect of Major Satisfaction, Self-Esteem and Nursing Professionalism on College Life Adjustment in Nursing Students (간호대학생의 전공만족도, 자아존중감 및 간호전문직관이 대학생활적응에 미치는 영향)

  • Purpose: The purpose of the study was to investigate the effect of major satisfaction, self-esteem and nursing professionalism on college (life) adjustment in nursing students. Methods: Data were collected using structured questionnaires from 179 nursing students at a university located in Seoul. The collected data were analyzed through the mean and standard deviation, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson's correlation, and multiple regression analysis using SPSS 27.0. Results: As a result, the average major satisfaction was 4.08 out of 5, the average self-esteem was 3.02 out of 4, the average nursing professionalism was 3.87 out of 5, and college life adjustment was 3.77 out of 5. Major satisfaction, self-esteem, and nursing professionalism were statistically correlated with college life adjustment. Self-esteem (β=.33, p<.001), major satisfaction (β=.24, p=.003), and major satisfaction at the time of admission (β=.22, p=.002) had a significant effect on college life adjustment. These factors explained 47.7% of college life adjustment (F=24.22, p<.001). Conclusion: The findings suggest there is a need to develop an educational program for nursing students to improve their self-esteem and major satisfaction.
