  • In this study, the hydration reaction and strength characteristic of cement mortar with spent coffee ground(SCG) was investigated. As a result of the study, it was found that as the firing temperature of the SCG increased, the mass loss due to the combustion of organic matter increased, but the density increased. In addition, when the SCG were mixed, SCG interfered with the hydration reaction and the compressive strength was significantly lowered. On the other hand, the coffee grounds ash(SCG_Ash) calcined at 800 ℃ showed a hydration reaction and a compressive strength equivalent to or higher than that of OPC mortar.

  • In this study, revelation performance of concrete at early age according to types of cement, water reducing ratio of high performance superplasticizer and mixing of accelerator for early hydration was examined aiming for reduction of construction period of framework through securing strength at early age of concrete. It was observed that strength at early age, 5MPa in 12hours, 14MPa in 18hours, is secured by early strength improvement type cement and using promotion admixture for early hydration which are Sodium persulfate, Potassium hydroxide. Therefore cost reduction is expected to be possible in construction site by reducing construction period of frame work.

  • Effect of defatting on the hydration rate of Akibare (Japonica) and Milyang 30 (J/lndica) rice was investigated. Relative crystallinity of rice starch and width of the rice grain were decreased by defatting, which was more pronounced for Milyang 30. The moisture gain at $10^{\circ}{\sim}40^{\circ}C$ for 80 min and the hydration rate of the defatted Milyang 30 rice were lower and higher than those of the defatted Akibare rice, respectively. The activation energy for hydration of rice was not affected by defatting.

  • This Study is performed Mock-up test accounting for height of placement to review behavior of mass concrete according to kinds of cement & form. First, we measured hydration heat and show a different hydration heat generation characteristics as compared with each other. And we measured mortar outflow, the strength of concrete core and standard specimens, concrete's ability to resist chloride ion penetration in order to durability estimation of concrete. This study was aims to improve quality of mass concrete under marine environment.

  • The durability of concrete and the water-tightness properties of cementitous material are closely relation. So, water-tightness materials as natural minerals, organic fatty acid, organic fatty salts inorganic materials use for improvement of concrete durability. But these materials are somehow different in water-tightness mechanism. In this study, we studied on hydration properties and water-tightness properties of cementitous materials with zinc-stearate, a kind of organic fatty acid salts.

  • Adiabatic temperature rise and autogenous shrinkage experiments were performed for three silica-fume included mass concrete mixtures and a reference mixture without silica-fume, in order to investigate the influence of silica-fume on the hydration heat and autogenous shrinkage properties of mass concrete, and to examine applicability of silica-fume to mass concrete. It was revealed from the experiment that, for mass concrete, the rate of hydration was hardly increased while the maximum adiabatic temperature rise decreased about 5$^{\circ}$C by the addition of silica-fume, and the amount of autogenous shrinkage was almost the same regardless of silica-fume replacement. These facts imply that silica-fume can enhance the resistance of mass concrete to temperature cracking as well as the durability.

  • Polycarboxylate-type superplasticizer is widely used for producing self-compacting and high-strength concrete and improving concrete durability. This paper discusses the influence of molecular structure of polycarboxylate-type superplasticizer on the fluidity and the rate of heat liberation of ordinary Portland cement paste. The fluidity of cement paste was increased by addition of polycarboxylate-type superplasticizer. The arrival time up to the maximum rate of heat liberation was increased by addition of polycarboxylate-type superplasticizer. The fluidity and the arrival time up to the maximum rate of heat liberation were more influenced by addition of polycarboxylate-type superplasticizer having shorter grafted chain than that having longer grafted chain.

  • The research was investigated the hydration heat and the fundamental properties of concrete using high volume mineral admixture for reducing hydration heat temperature. The results were that compared to OPC 100%, the dosage of superpasticizer agents was decreased about 50% degree at the same flowing, and the compressive strength was developed about 95% degree. Also, temperature rise of heat of hydration was decreased by 36~48% comparing to OPC and FA25, and it is estimated that it will have a large effect to hydration heat reduction of mass concrete.
