An evaluation of influence factors based on the limit state design-AASHTO LRFD for structural analysis of shield tunnel segment lining (한계상태설계법-AASHTO LRFD를 적용한 쉴드터널 세그먼트 라이닝의 구조해석 영향인자 평가)

  • Recently, the limit state design method in the design of the structure is in global trend, but it is limited to a few structures in Korea. Since the introduction of the limit state design method has recently been attempted for tunnels, which are the main underground structures, it is surely necessary to understand the latest limit state design method. Therefore, based on the recently published AASHTO LRFD Road Tunnel Design and Construction Guide Specification (2017), structural load factors and load combinations were reviewed, and various factors which should be applied for the review of structures have been analyzed. In this study, utility tunnel section and subway tunnel sections used in Korea were analyzed by the limit state design method, and we have analyzed the direction of application of limit state design method through studying the tendency of member force by various influential factors such as ground conditions, load modifier and joint stiffness.

  • The wireless sensor network system has the advantage of confirming the behavior of the entire facility by improving the disadvantages of conventional monitoring system. As a result, it is widely proposed as safety diagnosis and measurement of structures, water management systems, and management systems for dam structures. However, there is a lack of research that can evaluate the condition of facilities such as safety at the same time as monitoring. In this study, it is proposed a wireless sensor network system which can evaluate the behavior characteristics of facilities and evaluate the safety status for improving the technical disadvantages on conventional monitoring system. The geotechnical risk factors for the reservoir dam facility were evaluated and the limit values for the risk factors causing the failure of the facility were set. In other words, the system was set up so that the risk factors can be measured and the limit status can be evaluated immediately for each factor. In this study, numerical analysis is carried out for seepage and slope stability analysis using the typical cross section for reservoir dams. The stress-porewater coupling finite difference numerical analysis is performed for establishing the limit displacement for reservoir dam structures. It is developed a system that can estimate the time to reach the critical value by regression analysis using the measured datas.

Analysis on Application of Limit State Design Method for Bridge Evaluation Considering PSC Beam Bridge Experiment Results (PSC Beam교의 실측실험을 반영한 한계상태설계법 기반 교량 평가법 적용 분석)

  • This study analyzes the applicability of limit state design method on bridge evaluation by considering the experiment of the existing bridge. The test strength of the member is obtained from the PSC beam bridge experiment. The test strength is compared with the calculated strength obtained from the statistical characteristics of material test strength and the two values are almost the same. The response modification factor and dynamic impact factor are obtained from the vehicle loading test. The rating factor is calculated by applying limit state design method as well as current evaluation method and the results are compared. The reliability index of the test bridge is calculated by using the statistical properties of the member strength obtained from material test and simulation. When the statistical properties of the PSC beam tested in this study are applied, the reliability index with a larger value was obtained than the reliability index obtained with the statistical properties of the design code.

Structure Reliability Analysis using 3rd Order Polynomials Approximation of a Limit State Equation (한계상태식의 3차 다항식 근사를 통한 구조물 신뢰도 평가)

  • In this paper, uncertainties and failure criteria of structure are mathematically expressed by random variables and a limit state equation. A limit state equation is approximated by Fleishman's 3rd order polynomials and the theoretical moments of an approximated limit state equation are calculated. Fleishman introduced a 3rd order polynomial in terms of only standard normal distiribution random variables. But, in this paper, Fleishman's polynomial is extended to various random variables including beta, gamma, uniform distributions. Cumulants and a normalized limit state equation are used to calculate a theoretical moments of a limit state equation. A cumulative distribution function of a normalized limit state equation is approximated by a Pearson system.

Probabilistic Risk Assessment of a Cable-Stayed Bridge Based on the Prediction Method for the Combination of Failure Modes (붕괴모드 조합 예측법에 의한 PSC사장교의 위험도평가)

  • Probabilistic Risk Assessment considering statistically random variables is performed for the preliminary design of a Cable Stayed Bridge, which is Prestressed Concrete Bridge consisted of cable and plate girders, based on the method of Working Stress Design and Strength Design. Component reliabilities of cables and girders have been evaluated using the response surface of the design variables at the selected critical sections based on the maximum shear, positive and negative moment locations. Response Surface Method (RSM) is successfully applied for reliability analyses for this relatively small probability of failure of the complex structure, which is hard to obtain through Monte-Carlo Simulations. or through First Order Second Moment Method that can not easily calculate the derivative terms of implicit limit state functions. For the analysis of system reliability, parallel resistance system consisting of cables and plate girder is changed into series connection system and the result of system reliability of total structure is presented. As a system reliability, the upper and lower probabilities of failure for the structural system have been evaluated and compared with the suggested prediction method for the combination of failure modes. The suggested prediction method for the combination of failure modes reveals the unexpected combinations of element failures in significantly reduced time and efforts compared with the previous permutation method or system reliability analysis method, which calculates upper and lower bound failure probabilities.

The Numerical Study on Capacity Evaluation of Exposed Steel Column-Base Plate Connection (노출형 철골기둥-베이스 플레이트 접합부의 내력평가를 위한 수치적 연구)

  • The failure modes of steel column-base plate connection arranged on the basis of AISC Design Guide-#1 and -#10 are base plate tension and compression side flexural yielding, yielding, pull-out and shear failure of anchor rod, concrete crushing in concrete footing and steel column yielding. The bending moment capacity and failure mode in this connection are predicted using limit-state function and we compare these results and test result. In the case that thickness of base plate is relatively thick, bending moment capacity and failure mode in steel column-base plate connection accurately predicted. But in the case that thickness of base plate is relatively thin and axial force do not exist, prediction of failure mode in this connection is somewhat inaccurate.

  • 응답면 기법을 활용하여 댐구조물과 같은 사회간접자본 시설물의 파괴확률을 구할 수 있다. 본 위험성 평가과정에서 응답면기법으로 구성한 한계상태 방정식을 유전자알고리즘의 적합도 방정식으로 사용하면, 핵심타입이나 지반종류, 지반다짐정도 등의 입력설계변수의 최적화 과정 속도를 더욱 신속화 시킬 수 있다. 제안된 응답면 기법과 유전자알고리즘의 복합해석기법은 신뢰성기반 최적화프로그램으로 기존의 유전자알고리즘의 수렴속도를 더욱 빠르게 하여주고, 특히 입력변수의 상하한계가 불확실한 경우에도 만족스러운 수렴성을 보장하여준다. 한계상태 방정식의 목표신뢰도 지수를 변화시켜면 해당하는 입력변수의 최적값을 출력하여주므로, 입력변수의 제약조건에 가격함수와 같은 가중치를 벌칙함수로 부여하면 가격최적화 프로그램으로 작용하게 되며, 시설물 운영자에게는 목표신뢰도에 대한 유지관리 기법과 정도를 의사결정 할 수 있도록 하여주는 기능을 가지게 된다. 조사된 많은 댐구조물의 파괴모드가 시간에 독립적으로 시공중 또는 시공완료 후 5년이내에 다수 발생하는바, 파괴모드를 조사하고 중요한 파괴모드인 파이핑 현상에 대해서 파괴확률을 계산하고 최적유지관리를 위한 개선된 유전자알고리즘 최적화 연산을 수행하였다. 기존 댐구조물과 같이 설계변수와 하중의 변동성을 알기가 어려운 경우에 유지관리비용 최소화를 위해서 본 제안 프로그램의 확장된 버젼은 중요한 기준을 제시하여줄 것으로 기대한다.

Influence of Lateral Ballast Resistance on the Buckling Fragility Curve of the Continuous Welded Rail Tracks (장대레일 궤도의 좌굴 취약도 곡선에 대한 도상횡저항력의 영향)

  • 기존 장대레일 궤도의 안정성 평가는 궤도 매개변수에 대하여 고정된 안전측의 값을 사용하는 결정론적인 해석에 의존해서 평가되어져 왔다. 그러나 실제현장의 궤도조건은 많은 영향인자들에 의해 그 특성이 불확실하게 변하고 있다. 따라서 온도하중에 의한 궤도 좌굴에 영향을 미치는 궤도 구성인자들의 불확실성 및 임의성을 보다 합리적으로 고려하기 위해서 확률론적 기법을 적용하는 것이 필수적이다. 본 연구에서는 기존 본 연구진에 의해 개발된 장대레일 궤도의 좌굴확률 평가시스템을 이용하여 좌굴 취약도 곡선을 나타내었으며, 궤도 좌굴에 영향을 미치는 주요변수 중 하나인 도상횡저항력에 대한 영향을 분석하였다. 좌굴확률 평가시스템에서는 장대레일 궤도의 좌굴확률을 산정하기 위하여 구조물의 안정과 파괴를 판단할 수 있는 기준을 한계상태방정식으로 표현하고, 이 한계상태방정식으로부터 확률론적 기법 중 하나인 AFOSM(Advanced First Order Second Moment) 방법을 이용하여 파괴확률의 간접적인 지표인 신뢰도지수(${\beta}$)를 통해 좌굴확률을 계산한다. 한계상태방정식에서 구조물의 강도(보유성능)에 해당하는 부분은 궤도의 허용좌굴온도이고, 하중(요구성능)에 해당하는 부분은 레일온도하중으로써 현재 레일온도와 중립온도의 차로 반영된다. 허용좌굴온도 산정에 고려되는 주요변수는 곡선반경(Radius), 도상횡저항력(Lateral Ballast Resista nce), 연직도상강성(Vertical Ballast Stiffness), 궤도 틀림량(Misalignment), 틀림길이(Half Wave Length), 열차운행속도(Velocity)이다. 각 확률변수들이 갖는 확률분포는 모두 정규분포로 가정하였다. 궤도의 기하학적 특성은 곡선반경 5,000m에 대해 고려하였으며, 열차는 KTX의 제원을 사용하여 정지된 상태에서 고려하였다. 틀림량과 틀림길이는 이에 대한 통계적 특성자료가 부족하여 확률변수로 고려하지 않고 결정론적 값으로 취급하였다. 레일온도의 통계적 특성치는 본 연구진에 의해 구축된 기후요소 및 레일온도 DB를 근거로 결정하였으며, 중립온도는 선로관리지침에 따라 $25{\pm}3^{\circ}C$를 기준으로 결정하였다. 또한 도상횡저항력은 실측 데이터를 참고로 하여 평균값에서 10%의 변동량을 갖는 것으로 보고 통계적 특성치를 결정하였다. 도상횡저항력이 좌굴확률에 미치는 영향을 매우 큰 것을 알 수 있었으며, 레일온도 $60^{\circ}C$일 때 도상횡저항력이 증가하면서 감소되는 좌굴확률이 도상저항력이 커질수록 그 감소량이 작아지는 것을 알 수 있었다.

  • The dome stretching and tension test have been made to obtain a forming limit curve(FLC) for the copper alloy which is used for manufacturing the regenerative cooling chamber. For experimental survey of the forming limit curve, we have used in-plane tension specimen to obtain tension-compression strain state and also out of plane specimen to obtain tension-tension strain state through dome stretching test. All specimens are divided into longitudinal and radial direction specimens by the manufacturing method. The test results shows that in tension-tension region, copper alloy possesses a maximum major strain of 62.3% and maximum minor strain of 58.6%. In the tension-compression region, maximum major strain is 60.5% and maximum minor strain is 25.8%.

  • To conduct probabilistic seismic fragility analysis for nuclear power plants, it is very important to define the failure modes and criteria that can represent actual serious accidents. The seismic design criteria for piping systems, however, cannot fully reflect serious accidents because they are based on plastic collapse and cannot express leakage, which is the actual limit state. Therefore, it is necessary to clearly define the limit state for reliable probabilistic seismic fragility analysis. Therefore, in this study, the limit state of the SCH80 3-inch steel pipe elbow, the vulnerable part of piping systems, was defined as leakage, and the in-plane cyclic loading test was conducted. Moreover, an attempt was made to quantify the failure criteria for the steel pipe elbow using the damage index, which was based on the dissipated energy that used the moment-deformation angle relationship.
