  • In this paper, we propose a direction of teaching method for future generations. In order to suggest such the direction, teaching and learning materials that integrate coding activities and mathematical modeling were developed through top-down and bottom-up processes. Coding and engineering experts and mathematics education experts developed teaching and learning materials through councils (top-down courses) and applied them to 24 high school first graders based on student responses (bottom-up courses). Additionally, the developed curriculum helped students increase interest and motivation and realize conceptual understanding, problem posing, and problem solving in mathematics. On the basis of these results, it provided an idea about how to develop curriculum combining mathematical modeling with coding activities, needed for the fourth industrial revolution.

  • According to the participants, the current K-MOOC (Korean Massive Open Online Course) has a few problems, such as too few courses, low content quality, and useless learner management system compared to MOOCs abroad. These problems caused diminished learner motivation. Consequently, the K-MOOC service has recorded a low course completion rate despite high expenses spent to develop the contents and thus requires remedies to fix the issues. This study drew research subjects from a pool of college and graduate students representing the primary users of the K-MOOC. This study limited the research scope to the four categories: motivation, learning experience, recognition, and performance of the Biggs' 3P Learning System Model. Based on the literature review, ten variables were selected and explored how the subjects perceived four categories using the survey questionnaire. This study also examined the relationship between ten variables and generated suggestions for the instructors, course managers, and platform developers to make the K-MOOC better.

  • This paper is aimed at finding whether foreign students' Korean speaking skills can be increased or not through memorizing whole Korean sentences and pair works. First, the advance studies on the effects of this teaching method were surveyed. Second, the activity of this study was mainly pair works with foreign students, so how to do this activity was described. This activity was intended to help each other with keeping study and correcting errors while drilling in class. Thanks to this convergence teaching approach the students' frequency of target language, the Korean language was dramatically increased, and their motivation and energy were brought from this activity. They have to do communications with each other because each pair was made of one Chinese and one Vietnamese. They have no choice but to use Korean in communication. Finally, the questionnaire and interviews also showed that almost all of the students were satisfied with this convergence teaching approach.

  • This study was attempted to provide basic data for the development of the nursing major curriculum and the admission strategy for attracting new students by identifying the perception of the nursing major among freshmen in the nursing department. Participants in this study were 40 freshmen who agreed to participate in the study among freshmen in the department of nursing who completed self-exploration, a required liberal arts course for freshmen opened in the first semester of 2021. Data collection was a study diary written by participants after 15 weeks of class, and the traditional content analysis method suggested by Heieh and Shannon was applied to data analysis. As a result of the study, three themes were derived: 'motivation for entering the nursing major', 'value of the nursing major', and 'obstacles to the nursing major'. Therefore, colleges and departments need to strengthen their entrance examination strategies to develop and conduct field trip programs for experiential departments linked to middle and high schools and It is necessary to solve the difficulties in taking major courses by providing subject and extracurricular programs targeting students who lack basic learning ability.

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate a meaningful path model among the components of students' positive experiences about science and science learning to understand the interactive relationships among different variables of affective domains. Positive Experiences about Science (PES) means whole experiences that have positive effects on students' affectional achievement related with science learning, which consists of science academic emotion, science-related self-concept, science learning motivation, science-related attitude, and science-related career aspiration. We conducted an online survey with 1,841 students consisting of 4th, 6th, 8th, and 10th graders from 17 provinces and cities using Test for Indicators of Positive Experiences about Science (TIPES). To explore the structural relationships among variables, we selected and analyzed an optimal structural equation model and then conducted multigroup analyses among groups. According to the analysis of the structural equation model, 'positive as well as negative science academic emotion' has effects on science learning motivation, science-related attitude, and science-related career aspiration via science-related self-concept. According to the independent t-test results for TIPES scores by participants' characteristics, there were statistically significant differences in the average scores of five sub-components of PES depending on gender, school-level, school location, and participation in science-related activities. According to the multi-group analysis results, the difference of path coefficients by gender and school-level were statistically significant, whereas the difference of path coefficients by school location and participation were not significant. Discussed in the conclusion are the implications of this research for science education research and ways to help students' affectional achievement related with science learning.

  • The purpose of this review is to identify factors that affect the quality of cyber universities. While the previous studies focused on the university-level factors, the review revealed that the country-level, social-level, and individual-level variables are also important factors influencing the quality of cyber universities organically and systematically. Therefore, the current study asserts that additional predictors should be added with regard to its systemic structure. These variables would include basic educational environment (e.g., teachers, staff, educational system), related regulations, management system, student willingness to participate in learning and their motivation, the government's awareness of cyber universities and polity support, and societal recognition/assessment of cyber universities.

  • This study is about motivations of using YouTube channels related to politics and its effects on political socialization. Information acquisition from the political channels of YouTube was analyzed from the perspective of uses and gratifications theory. Then, the effects of the variable factors which can influence the perception-attitude-action of political socializations were reviewed. To understand aforesaid aspects, online survey was conducted targeting male and female adults between 20 to 50-year-old. There were four factors observed for the motivations of using YouTube channels of politics, which were 'entertainment of political satire', 'mental stability', 'convenience of the media', and 'pursuit of information'. The impacts on political socialization were verified with path analysis. Among the various motivations of using YouTube channels, 'convenience of the media' and 'pursuit of information' were the factors that positively affected the acquirement of political knowledges. Political knowledges had meaningful influences on increasing people's interest in politics, and their sense of political efficacy. Increased interest in politics led to higher level of sensing political efficacy, then higher political efficacy positively motivated people to participate in politics. The theoretical and practical implications of the study were also discussed based on the findings.

  • The present study intends to understand how multimodality can be implemented in a content course curriculum and how students perceive multimodal tasks. Twenty-eight students majoring in English were engaged in a digital storytelling assignment as a part of the content curriculum. Findings from the questionnaire and reflective essays that investigated students perceptions of digital storytelling showed that students felt that the assignment helped them engage in the task and felt motivated. In comparison to traditional writing tasks, students perceived digital storytelling to be more engaging and motivating, but felt that the assignment required more mental effort and caused more anxiety. By supporting students to explore technology and implement multimodal aspects in the learning process, digital storytelling can encourage engagement and autonomous learning to create meaningful works that are purposeful and enjoyable.
