The Effect of Learning Community Program Participation on College Students' Communication Skills and Cooperative Learning Competency (학습공동체 프로그램 참여가 대학생의 의사소통능력 및 협동학습역량에 미치는 영향)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of participation in the learning community program on the communication skills and cooperative learning capabilities of college students. To this end, in the second semester of 2018, pre and post surveys were conducted on 296 students at A University and analyzed using SPSS. The main research results are as follows. First, there was a significant difference in the participation of the learning community program in the cooperative learning capacity of college students. Second, in the analysis by sub-factors, there were significant differences before and after the program in the factors of cooperative learning competency learning participation and learning satisfaction. Third, the differences between grades showed significant differences between the 2nd and 3rd grades before and after the program. Fourth, based on the results of this study, suggestions were made for learning community program activities and follow-up studies. The results of this study analyzed the effects of learning community activities conducted at universities on the communication skills and cooperative learning capabilities of college students, and presented practical measures for the systematic operation and support of learning community activities.

  • This study analyzed the effect of participation in work and learning ducal system of small businesses on employees' job competency enhancement. The study results showed that performance assessment significantly affected job competency enhancement(p<.001, ${\beta}=.514$). In conclusion, it is suggested that small businesses should consider performance assessment more important and actively include it in training program as generally utilizing off-the-job or on-the-job training method. This study provided implications for analyzing the effect of participation in work and learning ducal system of small businesses on employees' job competency enhancement, so it broadened the scope of the study about performance of work and learning ducal system and verified the effectiveness depend on the type of training.

Effects of EngageGram on e-Learning Participation According to the Types of Learners' Social Comparison Motive (이러닝 학습자들의 사회비교동기 유형에 따른 EngageGram이 학습참여도에 미치는 효과)

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the effects of EngageGram which is a motivator of e-learning participation on learners' online participation according to the types of social comparison motive. Research participation was 144 undergraduate students (male: 106, female: 38) who took the course entitled "Creative Thinking." Social comparison motive of learners were investigated by two methods: social comparison motive scales and learners' opinions on EngageGram. As results, there was no statically corelation between the types of social comparison motive by using scales and online participation, however, there was statically differences on e-learning participation according to the types of social comparison motives by analyzing learners' opinions. Learners mostly have self-enhancement motive in a learning context so they are motivated to participate actively by EngageGram. This study provide useful implication in the research area of learning analytics.

The Effects of learner participation and interaction in web-based collaborative learning (웹기반 협력학습에서 참여와 상호작용의 차이에 대한 고찰)

  • This study aims to investigate better predictors, among learner participation and interaction, for collective self-efficacy and achievement in a web-based collaborative learning environment. Interaction requires communication among two or more learners, while participation does not. In this study, interaction was measured by in-degree centrality and out-degree centrality based on the social network analysis perspective. Multiple regression analysis results from 53 college students who performed team project via online showed that in-degree centrality predicted collective self-efficacy and out-degree centrality predicted achievement, while participation was not a significant predictor.

  • 학습동아리는 대학생들에게 학업보충 뿐 아니라 자격증취득, 취업준비 등 여러 목적으로 매우 유용한 도구가 될 수 있다. 본 연구에서는 학습동아리 참여 실태에 대한 조사를 연구 범위로 한다. 조사방법론으로는 대전의 한 대학교의 학생들에게 설문을 통하여 학습동아리 참여 여부와 미참여 시의 이유, 그리고 참여 시 참여 이유 등을 파악하는 설문방법을 취한다. 먼저 성별과 학년별 학습동아리 참여의 차이가 있는지를 분석하고, 미참여 이유와 참여 이유에 있어 성별에 따른 차이와 학년에 따른 차이를 SPSS 20 통계패키지를 이용하여 검증한다. 검증 결과는 남학생의 학습동아리 참여가 높고 학년별로는 신입생보다 재학생들이 당연히 참여 비율이 월등히 높아 통계적으로 유의한 차이가 있음이 나타났다. 참여 이유로는 자발적 필요성이 70%에 달해 월등히 높은 비율을 나타냈다. 한편 미참여 이유는 아르바이트 등으로 시간이 없다는 응답이 50%를 넘어 경제적 형편을 반영하고 있다. 성별, 학년별 참여, 미참여 이유는 통계적으로 유의한 차이가 없었다.

The Effects of Flipped Learning Applied to Home Economics Education on Academic Engagement, Self-Directed Learning Ability and Social Interaction of Middle School Students (가정교과에 적용한 거꾸로 수업이 중학생의 수업참여도, 자기주도학습능력 및 사회적 상호작용에 미치는 효과)

  • This study aims to investigate the effects of flipped learning applied to home economics education on improving middle school students' academic engagement, self-directed learning ability and social interaction. The subjects of this study were 129 third-grade students in middle school. To verify the effects of flipped learning adequately, 129 middle school students divided into two groups have participated in the study over a course of nine weeks. One group was taught in the traditional instructed learning method while the other one in the flipped learning methods. The two groups were taught in 13 sessions in total once or twice a week, and each session took 45 minutes. For pretest and post test, the questionnaire consisting of academic engagement scale, self-directed learning scale and social interaction scale were used. To analyze data, ANCOVA was used to examine significant differences between two groups. The main results of this study were the following : First, students who participated in flipped learning are more improved than those who participate in instructed learning in academic engagement. Second, students who joined in flipped learning are much more improved than those who joined in instructed learning in self-directed learning ability. Third, students who join in flipped learning were much more improved than those who joined in instructed learning in social interaction.

The Effects of Gamification E-Learning Classes Based on Self-Determination Theory on University Students' Class Participation, Learning Immersion, Teaching Presence (자기결정성 이론에 기반한 게이미피케이션 이러닝 수업이 대학생의 수업참여도, 학습몰입도, 교수실재감에 미치는 효과)

  • This study is a descriptive survey to develop a gamification e-learning class based on self-determination theory and to check its effectiveness. The data collection period was from March 1 to June 15, 2023, and 59 students at G University in G Metropolitan City were surveyed on class participation, learning immersion, and teaching presence before and after the course. IBM SPSS/Win 26.0 was used to analyze the collected data, and descriptive statistics, analysis of variance (ANOVA), and analysis of covariance (ANCOVA) were conducted. The results showed that the self-determination-based gamification class significantly improved students' class participation, learning engagement, and teaching presence (p<.05). An analysis of covariance (ANCOVA) was conducted to determine whether the general characteristics of the participants affected the results of the post-test, and gender affected the post-test results of learning engagement, with an effect of 7.9%. Based on the results of this study, it can be seen that self-determination-based gamification e-learning class is effective in improving learners' class participation, learning engagement, and teaching presence. As the demand for e-learning in universities is expanding, self-determination-based gamification e-learning classes should be developed in various fields of liberal arts and majors.

Attendance Appraisal for Learner Participation Degree Based Virtual Lecture (학습자 참여도 정보기반 가상강좌 출석평가 모델)

  • In The increasing use of computers and high-speed Internet network has greatly influenced education, causing a veering away from the typical and traditional way of delivering instruction. Specifically, the various kinds of Web-based multimedia technology, the interactive activities on the Internet, and satellite broadcasting technology are accelerating the emergence of a virtual-lectures-based educational model, which transcends time and space. Such virtual lectures make it possible for the entire teaching-learning process to be done in a virtual learning environment, thus giving rise to problem regarding learning guidance, feedback, and appraisal. In this paper, we propose a system for attendance appraisal for learner participation degree based virtual lecture, an appraisal element in virtual learning environments. This appraisal model can set the elements of virtual learning environments in such a way as to reflect in the attendance appraisal of the opened virtual learning environment information regarding the learner's participation in class. In addition, this model motivates the learners to actively participate in the virtual learning environment and to support instructors by accomplishing the activities that are needed for attendance appraisal.

E-Learning Strategies Affecting the levels of Participation, Achievement and Satisfaction in the University Blended Learning Environment (대학교 혼합학습(Blended Learning) 환경에서 학습참여도, 학업성취도, 학습만족도에 영향을 미치는 e-러닝 학습전략)

  • The present study is to investigate the elements of e-learning strategies affecting the levels of participation, achievement and satisfaction for learners who participated in the university blended learning environment. For this, 58 subjects were recruited who participated in the blended learning class at K university. E-learning strategies, achievement and satisfaction levels were measured for data collection, and the level of participation was measured by analyzing the LMS log-in database. For data analysis, first, means and standard deviation were computed to find the level of e-learning strategies of the subjects. Second, linear regression analysis was conducted to find the e-learning strategies that could estimate the levels of achievement, participation and satisfaction. As a result, variables to estimate the achievement level included time management strategy and overload management strategy. Variables to estimate the participation level included self-directed strategy, time management strategy and overload management strategy. Finally, variables to estimate the satisfaction level included multiple discussion management strategy, asynchronous management strategy and sociality. Based on these estimated variables, the author suggested some ideas to increase the educational effectiveness.
