A Study on the Wed Based Design Education -Mainly on Usabilities and Problems- (Web 기반 디자인 교육에 관한 연구 - 그 유용성과 문제점을 중심으로 -)

  • Web Based Instruction has its theoretical background in constructivism paradigm of education. According to social changes called information era and thanks to the sophisticated internet mechanism the constructivism in education has been dominant paradigm. In this paradigm information and knowledge are not merely given by a instructor facing the loaners. This system of instruction has n almost every field of discipline introduced. This article aims to examine how far WBI and constructivism are applicable for design education. Richard Branchia predicted that the learner oriented instruction method would become the dominant education system. He stressed an interactivity of the teacher and students. Upon this can the applicability of WBI for design education be affirmed. This article suggests several ways to solve the problems web based design education faces, including the lesson should inevitably combine the outline and of online study.

The Effects of Cooperative and Individualistic Learning Strategies by the Level of Achievement (학습자의 성취 수준에 따른 협동학습과 개별학습의 효과)

  • This study investigated the influences of the cooperative and the individualistic learning strategies on the academic achievement and the attitudes toward science instruction and science by the level of achievement. These two learning strategies endowed students with the responsibility of learning and emphasized student-centered learning which included higher order thinking activities. Cooperative learning group students studied the tasks through small group discussion, and individualistic learning group students solved the same ones individually. In the traditional group. teacher-centered expository lesson was used. The subjects of this study were 7th graders of coed middle school, and were taught about separation of mixture for 10 class periods. Two-way ANCOVA results revealed that the test scores of academic achievement for cooperative learning group were significantly higher than those of individualistic and traditional learning groups. The attitudes toward science instruction and science were also more positive in cooperative learning group than the others. No interactions between the treatment and the level of previous achievement indicated that the cooperative learning strategy was effective regardless of the level of achievement.

  • With the importance of creative learning highly valued, the demand for education in early childhood and adolescence has been increasing in recent years, but simple memorization-oriented and classical teaching methods tend not to prove high effectiveness in terms of learner-centeredness. Students who study static at their desks for a long time do not prefer boring classical learning methods, and there is also a lack of educational methods and educational content that conforms to the convergence education trend in the actual educational field. Therefore, this study has created a system that allows students to exercise and learn at the same time through a fun and familiar approach, and implement educational content through activation of brain plasticity.

  • Computer education is moving its focus from skill oriented education to improving students' creativity and problem solving ability. Thus, the importance of programming education is being strengthened. However, programming education was biased to grammar oriented language that has been limits of students' interest. Robot programming is problem solving itself, and by allowing students to directly see the robot which is the output of programming, can help interest and motivate to the students. In fact, it is still observed that the students are facing difficulties due to various kinds of errors during the programming education. Therefore, this study categorizes and analyzes the errors students are facing during robot programming, and based on that, a support tool to help treat errors developed. The developed supporting system for error solving reduces the frequency of errors and provides the set of coding instruction, NXC language and error message in Korean, examples and detailed information for each stage of education, function removing major coding errors, and code sorting and indication of row number. This study also confirmed that the supporting tool is helpful in reducing and solving errors after input.

Study of Effect of Information Representation Learning in Middle-School with Play Activities Materials on the Learning Achievement (놀이 활동 교육 자료를 활용한 중학교 정보 표현 학습이 학업성취도에 미치는 영향)

  • As the contents of information were reinforced the rules of computer science, it was necessary to develop the new teaching and learning plans and various education materials that encourage students and easy to access. So, in this study developed a wide ran of play activities and educational materials without using a computer for the area of information representation and applied to 68 students, second grade of middle school for 4 weeks. After the class, the effect on the learning achievement was verified by the t-test. As a result, it was shown that there was a significant difference between learning with play activities materials and the traditional lecture-type. It means that learning with play activities materials in the information representation influences a positive effect to the learning achievement.

Application of Serious Games for Effective Construction Safety Training (건설안전교육 효율성 향상을 위한 기능성게임 적용에 대한 연구)

  • Construction safety training has mostly relied on one-way transference of instructors' knowledge to trainees through traditional media such as textbooks and lecture slides. However, safety knowledge could be more effectively acquired in experiential situations. The authors proposed a serious game to provide a comprehensive safety training environment. Trainees who assume the roles of safety inspectors in the game explore a virtual construction site to identify potential hazards and learn from the contents of feedback created by the game as a result of trainees' input. The paper reports details of the game design and development process. The test results indicated that trainees were motivated to refresh their safety knowledge, increased their learning interests, and enjoyed the learning process. In addition, trainees showed positive attitudes towards using the game scoring as a way of evaluating their safety knowledge. The test results encouraged the continuous development of the game.

  • 효과적인 교육을 위한 다양한 연구들이 진행되어 왔지만, 이러한 결과를 실제 수업현장에 적용하기에는 많은 시간과 노력 등이 필요하여 잘 활용되지 못하고 있는 것이 현실이다. 따라서 교실 수업, 특히 지필 위주의 수업에서는 여전히 따분해하며 집중하지 못하는 학생들을 흔하게 볼 수 있다. 본 연구에서는 학생들의 적극적 참여를 통한 효과적인 교육을 구현하기 위한 방안으로 구성주의적 교수학습 방안과 정보 기술을 기반으로 교수자와 개별 학생들 사이의 실시간 상호작용을 극대화시키는 교수방안을 제안하고자 한다. 구현 사례로 통계적 추정의 표본추출 단원에 적용할 수 있는 교수학습 모형과 시스템을 제시한다.

  • Web based learning has been used for many educational systems by aid of the development of internet technique. The true process of education includes not only learning contents but also learning process and the evaluation. So far, Web-based evaluation mainly consists of the evaluation of the learning products or the evaluation of the cognitive domain. But, there is lack of the appropriate feedback for learning effects. In this paper, we design and implement an evaluation system for Web-based instruction. In our system, the learners are evaluated during the process of Web-based learning. Our system provides learner-centered instruction for students with instant feedback. The questions made up by teachers are stored in the database and can be searched by a keyword, grade, semester or unit. The evaluation system can also provide the feedback to right or wrong answer for each question. Our system provides the learners with instant feedback after solving the questions and also can improve the quality of learning process using the Web.

  • The Internet had been taken properties which were both a slow speed and low-bandwidth of the first time. It was impossible to transmit large multimedia data because of a Internet properties. After tens of Year Passed, many people began to transmit multimedia data in the Internet which had fast-speed and high-bandwidth. Some people want to team classes to be taught in school through the Internet. And, educators wish to use multimedia data in the educational field. Due to previous reasons, many parts in the educational field had tried to join real-time objects to multimedia objects. But, real-time data didn’t appear easily due to many faults like network errors and system bugs if we want to control data in order to teach and learn classes. Then, this paper separates real-time and unreal-time data and controls these data that aye made a time scheduler to have time information in the extended SMIL-file for deceasing these faults.

  • Most of the robot programming curriculums consists mainly of understanding robot programming language and learning a simple grammatical sentences rather than logical problem solving process, these curriculums impose a burden on childrens' learning. Storytelling offers opportunities for continuation of childrens' positive learning motivation to practice symbolic manipulations, hold multiple abstract concepts in their heads, and create meaning between these ideas. In this paper, to overcome the difficulty of robot programming curriculum in elementary school and find teaching method which derives the childrens' motivation, we used storytelling in study of our robot programming curriculum.
