최근 다양한 기기와 환경에서 문자 입력에 대한 요구가 높아지고 있다. 이에 따라 효율적인 문자 입력 인터페이스 설계를 위해 문자 입력 인터페이스의 평가가 필요한 실정이다. 기존 연구를 살펴보면 문자 입력 시간을 시각 탐색 시간과 손가락 이동 시간으로 나누고 정보처리 이론인 Hick-Hyman Law와 Fitts’ Law를 통해 예측, 평가 하였다. 하지만 위 두 과정은 연속적(serial)인 과정으로 눈과 손의 coordination(협응)에 대해 관과 하는 한계가 있다. 또한, 기존 문자 입력 시간 예측 모델은 전문가라는 특정 숙련도를 가정하고 만들어졌기 때문에 실제 문자 입력 시간에 비해 과대 측정되어 왔다. 이에 본 연구는 문자 입력 시간 예측 모델에 눈-손 coordination 매개변수를 삽입하고자 눈-손 coordination의 시간을 측정하고 행태를 분석하였다. 또한, 비숙련자와 숙련자의 구분을 통해 시각 탐색 시간과 손 움직임 시간 그리고 눈-손 coordination의 시간 과 행태가 어떻게 변화하는 지 분석하였다. 그 결과 눈-손 coordination 시간은 문자 입력 시간과 밀접한 관계가 있었다, 그리고, 눈-손 coordination 시간은 숙련도에 상관없이 문자 입력 시간의 22%를 차지하였다. 또한, 숙련자와 비숙련자의 문자 입력 시간과 비교해 손과 coordination 시간 비율은 차이가 없었다. 하지만, 눈의 움직임 시간 비율은 큰 차이를 나타내었다. 이 결과는 눈-손 coordination과 숙련도 차이를 기존 문자 입력 예측 모델에 매개변수로써 적용하기 위한 기초 자료가 될 것이다.

빠르게 성장하는 유비쿼터스 환경 속에서 보육서비스 대부분 기반 기술 개발이나 학습 시스템 기술 개발에 한정되어있다. 따라서 이제는 유아가 성장하는 시기에 필요한 다양한 탐색적 경험이 제공되어 바람직한 성장과 발달을 도와주는 유비쿼터스 환경 기반 보육서비스의 질적 수준 향상을 위한 개발 단계에서 활용할 수 잇는 이용자 중심의 보육서비스 가이드라인에 대한 연구가 필요하다. 이를 위해 유치원을 이용하거나 관련된 이용자의 행태에 영향을 주는 정황(Context)의 중요성이 강조된다. 본 연구에서는 유치원 환경 Context 요소와 보육서비스 개발을 위한 도메인을 선정하고 유치원에서 유아를 중심으로 정황 조사(Contextual Inquiry)를 통해 현장에서 일어나는 다양한 태스크들의 시나리오를 행동 절차 순으로 분류하여 행태 정보를 구조화 하고 유아를 중심으로 관련된 사람과 사물 간의 상호관계에 대한 포괄적인 정황의 흐름을 분석하여 다이어그램을 통해 모델링 하여 사용자 니즈를 도출함으로써 유아의 상호관계와 행태 중심의 유비쿼터스 환경 기반 보육서비스를 기획하고 개발하는 단계에 고려해야 할 요소를 제시하였다.

The authors utilized two contested perspectives on the use and non-use of ICTs, especially the Internet, to verify three assumptions of urban ghettos as fundamentally excluded from the ICT structure, ghetto people as behaving in the same way, and deficiency as the sole explanatory variable of their non-use. The first assumption that the urban ghettos would be fundamentally excluded from the urban ICT structure can be nullified by our finding about the prevalence of ICTs in that area, albeit apparent lower level of access to ICTs compared to that of the urban core. The second assumption that the urban ghetto residents would display the same information behaviors would be challenged by our finding that the availability and usages of the Internet would be hardly consistent by gender, age, occupation, family size, and locational characteristics. The third assumption that deficiency would capture the Internet non-use by ghetto residents was found very tenable but could be rivaled by the choice perspective that use or non-use is simply a result of situated choice. Theoretical and practical implications were suggested.

엄청난 양의 정보와 정보기술들이 만연한 정보환경이 도래함에 따라 사람들은 의식적으로 정보를 탐색하는 과정에서 원래 찾으려 했던 주제는 아니지만 유용하고, 흥미로운 정보를 발견하는 경험을 보다 자주 접할 수 있게 되었다. 이에 우연한 정보의 획득(OAI)에 대한 연구의 필요성이 제기되고 있다. 그러나 현재 국내의 문헌정보학 분야에 있어 이에 대한 연구는 미비한 상태이다. 이에 본 연구에서는 대학생과 대학원생의 과제 수행 시 전자학술정보를 사용하는 데에 있어 발생하는 정보 조우(IE) 경험에 대해 알아보고자 하였다. 이를 위해 먼저 선행연구 분석을 통해 과제 수행을 목적으로 가장 비중 있게 활용되고 있는 정보원이 전자학술정보임을 파악하고, 과제 수행 시 전자학술정보를 활용해 본 적이 있는 대학생과 대학원생을 대상으로 설문조사를 실시하였다. 그 결과, 설문에 참여한 응답자들은 Erdelez(2004)가 제시한 정보 조우의 기능적 모형에서 주목(noticing)과 검토(examining), 귀환(returning) 과정에 대한 경험을 비중 있게 인지하고 있는 것으로 나타났다. 반면 중단(stopping)의 경우, 상대적으로 긍정적인 답변의 비율이 낮았으며, 획득(capturing)에 대한 물음에서는 차이를 보였다.

The purpose of this study is to find out scholarly information seeking patterns of university faculty in Korea. It is important and necessary to understand their information seeking behavior and also to assess the characteristics of communication process of scholarly information seeking in order to build and operate efficient library information system. For this purpose, a questionaire consisting of 15 information seeking channels was designed and used for interviewing three major groups of professors namely science, social science and humanities. Based on the Statistical Analysis System analysis of the questionaire, it was found that there is significant differences among three specialization field groups for 11 out of 15 questions and there is significant differences among age groups for 7 out of 15 questions.

This study focused on understanding the Korean university students' (both undergraduates and graduates) use of foreign language for scholarly information retrieval especially in different search strategies employed based on users' characteristics. A new model was developed based on Ellis's behavioral model of information seeking strategies. The research applied both quantitative and qualitative methods to analyze the data. The students used a variety of foreign language information seeking strategies at different stages of academic information retrieval based on his/her field of study or level of education. The liberal arts and social science students had more difficulty in selecting proper search terms in the foreign language than the science and technology students. This difficulty resulted in less preference for using foreign language queries by the liberal arts and social science students. The students relied more on the bibliographic and citation information in scholarly information retrieval using foreign language queries than the Korean queries. The research outcomes should provide some guidelines on how the Korean university libraries offer information literacy programs and other services based on the patrons' characteristics.

Nation-wide support is being strengthened to vitalize pre-entrepreneur and startup initiatives. However, it is found that they have been suffering from the lack of necessary information in preparation for the start-up operation. In order to support more proactive and robust start-up process in aspect of contents or service, it is necessary to carefully analyze their information needs and information seeking behaviors. Information seeking behavior analysis is a method for improving information services in accordance with the information needs of the information service users in libraries and information service institutes. This study analyzed information seeking behaviors of pre-entrepreneur and startup. Focus-group interview as the representative method of exploring information seeking behaviors was conducted. Content analysis was introduced to search the business-establishing process, information-seeking status, and utilization level of startup-related information resources and their perception. It is expected that contents and services for pre-entrepreneur and startup would be improved by reflecting their information seeking behaviors based on the results of this study.

국내 유무선 인터넷은 세계 시장과 통신트랜드를 주도할 정도로 이용자 규모, 서비스 다양성, 서비스 수용성 측면에서 커다란 성과를 나타내며 이는 선순환 구조를 통해 단말기, 장비, 콘텐츠 산업의 경쟁력을 강화시키는데 기여하고 있다. 또한 국내 통신시장은 와이브로와 HSDPA로 대표되는 광대역 무선인터넷 시대를 선도할 것으로 기대되고 있다. 본 글에서는 전국 일반인을 대상으로 시장조사 결과를 바탕으로 유무선 인터넷의 이용행태를 파악하고 광대역 무선인터넷에 대한 니즈를 탐색하고자 하였다. 분석결과, 국내 유무선 인터넷 시장은 10~20대의 학생층뿐만 아니라 30대 이상의 화이트 칼라로 이용층으로 확대되며 이 계층이 광대역 무선인터넷의 핵심 이용자군으로 잠재력을 지닌 것으로 나타났다.

In this study, we investigated the information users' needs and information seeking behavior in the field of science and technology. We found that the science and technology researchers most frequently needed information while conducting the research & development related tasks and drafting research papers. The researchers attributed the main sources of research ideas to be the communication among colleagues and the literature review. The researchers's most preferred information sources were digital libraries, web search engines, and academic information portal. In conclusion, the science and technology researchers regarded the online use of electronic materials as the primary source of information. We hope that this investigation reported herein to be the foundation for developing user-centered information services for the science and technology discipline.

정보환경의 변화에 따라 도서관과 웹 검색엔진의 차별성이 있음에도 불구하고 이용자들은 인터넷의 자원과 학술데이터베이스의 자원을 혼동하고 있다. 특히 구글스칼라가 갖는 검색속도와 조작의 편의성이라는 장점에 따라 데이터베이스의 학술적 가치에도 불구하고 구글스칼라를 가장 많이 이용하고 있다. 이 연구에서는 구글스칼라가 갖는 장점을 반영한 메타서치시스템의 특성과 가치를 조사하였다. 조사 대상은 메타서치시스템이 갖는 인터페이스 측면과 전자정보원 측면에서 비교 분석하였다. 이러한 새로운 검색채널로써 메타서치시스템을 이용하는 기관의 이용통계를 분석하여, 이를 바탕으로 구글스칼라와 같은 웹 검색엔진이 갖는 이용자선호가치를 수용하는 상황에서 이용자 이용행태 패턴과 주제별 전자정보 탐색 행위 등을 조사하였다.
