  • The purpose of study was to obtain the data for development of oral health improvement programs for the high school students by investigation of oral health education experience. Excluding 19 inadequate answers, 279 questionnaire copies were analyzed. First, the analysis results is knowledge level of oral care, the students who smoking or drinking were found to be more than without experience groups (p=0.025). Second, in regard to the self perception of oral condition, the group with experience of proper tooth brushing techniques has statistically significant difference compared to the group without experience (p=0.000). And third, the question about oral health behavior was significantly higher than the group with no smoking experience. The importance of oral health care is closely related to oral health knowledge. It's necessary to provide oral health promotion program and smoking cessation programs in high school students.

  • The purpose of this study is to explore high school students' understanding of the distinction between scientific theories and scientific laws. Understanding of the distinction between these two concepts, which belong to the nature of science, has been receiving little attention. We surveyed thirty-two students from a local high school with three-part, open-ended questionnaire. The result revealed that these students shared common misconceptions such as 'scientific theories are unproven, scientific laws are proven and absolute', and 'if a theory is proven with enough evidence, it becomes a law'. Moreover, students tend to regard earth science less sophisticated than physical science, because they recognize a lot of its theories to be unproven in their view. It is indicated further that teaching the difference between scientific theories and laws explicitly could help students possess more appropriate view toward earth science.

  • To improve elementary mathematics education teaching and learning method and environment, the survey of elementary school students' attitude toward mathematics and their images on mathematician was conducted to mathematically gifted students and non-gifted students of 6th grade of elementary school. The study results show that mathematically gifted elementary students have deeper understanding of mathematician and their works than non-gifted students. But they are not enthusiastic to be a mathematician. On average, awareness of domestic mathematician is turned to be significantly low. And most students don't know well of mathematician. Since this study was applied to the limited range of objects, significant results were not shown in external and internal image of mathematician. Thus, the future study needs to generalize the study results by compensating this defect and developing various materials to improve students' attitude toward mathematics and images of mathematician.

  • In order to find out a method to improve awareness of biomedical laboratory science about forensic medicine education and suggest a plan for invigoration, we carried out a survey targeting 100 students of biomedical laboratory science of Daegu Health College in Daegu region and implemented their awareness and requirement forensic medicine subject, which suggested very high awareness of most of the students about forensic medicine as a result. Out of 100 respondents, in the result of survey for students' awareness of forensic medicine, 94 (94%) answered that they were aware of it, We could find that they have high expectation from forensic medicine, and current biomedical laboratory science showed very high awareness and requirement for forensic medicine education. Therefore, rather than focusing only on core courses required for medical technologist, it is necessary to set up a program to introduce forensic subjects for expansion of professional areas and activation which can promote employment of medical technologists.

  • This study was intended to explore the changes in teaching methods when freedom to choose curriculum, instruction, and evaluation methods is allowed and when 'free semesters' are free from entrance examination for high school. For this question, we analyzed free semester education plans of eight sample schools and interviewed 33 teachers and students respectively. The results were as follows. Firstly, all schools planned to use teaching methods for meaningful learning, although they are limited to those exemplified in guidelines for free semester. Secondarily, teaching methods adopted for free semester were characterized as activities enhancing student participation. Thirdly, teaching methods such as career exploration, scientific experimentation, cooperative learning, flipped learning, interdisciplinary learning were used only a couple of times in a semester. Changes in teaching methods were referred to enhance students' interest, confidence, self-regulation, creativity, problem-solving and cooperative learning.

The results obtained through the analysis of the pre & post questions and student works are as follows. First, the students used the shot size and stable composition through the interview video production. As a result, this class was effective for the acquisition of the basic video grammar. Second, students improved their ability to ask and listen, understand and organize through interview. As a result, students were able to apply the basic video grammar through the interview video production lesson, effectively producing the interview image.

  • We have developed art and career convergence class for career recognition through drawing a neighborhood job map. Thus, we want to expand the students' career recognition. 3 Classes were conducted in 16 elementary school students from 5th to 6th. Through pre & post-questionnaire, and the interviews with the students' work, job recognition with job value and job prejudice, self-understanding and career attitude were analyzed. As follows. First, students' job recognition was expanded. The ability to identify the needs, values and purposes of jobs has improved. Changes in job values that all jobs are worth have occurred and job bias has changed. Second, the career attitude changed on the basis of self-understanding. Thus, in the context of deciding the job demanded by the society rather than the student's will, art and career convergence class was effective in career recognition.

  • The purpose is a qualitative study that explores the essential meaning of problems in the academic performance process with respect to college life targeting Nursing students in Mature-age students. The participants of this study were 15 students who were 4th graders from a university in K city, Gyeongsangbuk-do, and who had passion for learning and had an awareness of it. As for the data collection, the experiences related to the life of Mature-age students were written through interviews and self-reports within 48 hours of asking questions as a student. The collected data were analyzed using Krippendorff's phenomenological method. As a result of analyzing the experiences of Nursing students in Mature-age students, 34 meaningful statements in 4 categories and 14 topics were derived. The four categories were derived as 'endless hardship', 'the reason for being with them even at the end of the school year', 'the confidence to find slowly', and 'learning life in the academic process'. As a result of this study, it is expected that Adult Learners nursing students will be used as basic data for a program useful for stable and smooth college adaptation and nurturing healthy nursing professions in the future.

  • This study aims to examine how the use of Padlet, an online platform, affects students' English writing anxiety and English writing strategy in online college English writing classes. A total of 64 college students participated in the study and completed the survey including English writing anxiety, English writing strategy and demographic information. For the study, we divided participants into 2 groups, experimental group using Padlet for their writing tasks and control group using college e-learning during a semester. The results showed that students using Padlet used more writing strategies than the students using college e-learning platform. The use of Padlet, however, was not statistically significant on writing anxiety. English writing anxiety was differed by English level, but decreased at the end of semester regardless of English level. The results imply that Padlet is a useful online learning tool for English learners to actively use English writing strategies and even for learners with low English writing proficiency.

  • Biomedical engineering is a discipline that diagnoses and treats human diseases using engineering techniques based on medical and biological understanding. Proper biomedical engineering education requires education on medical terminology, human anatomy, and human physiology, but students have a preconceived notion that these basic medical subjects are subjects to be memorized. In order to eliminate these students' preconceptions, various educational methods must be developed so that students can easily access basic medical subjects. In this paper, we present a method to increase learning effectiveness by introducing observation practice of a human anatomical model to the medical terminology subject. The half-body model of the human body is a form in which various organs are assembled and can be observed by disassembling them one by one. This observation exercise consisted of questions about the organs of the head, neck, chest, and abdomen, with students working in groups to find answers. After the practice, students evaluated that this practice motivated them to learn and made it easier to understand the lecture.
