The Effects of Undergraduate Research Program on Convergence Competency, Major Satisfaction, and Academic Achievement (학부생연구프로그램 참여가 융합역량, 전공만족도, 학업성취도에 미치는 효과)

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of the undergraduate research program(URP) among Korean students. URP is frequently implemented in STEM(Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) majors, and this study tested whether the participation of URP was effective in convergence competency, major satisfaction, and academic achievement. Data were collected from 101 participants and 117 non-participants of URP at an A university. The research results showed that the mean scores of convergence competency, major satisfaction, and academic achievement of the URP participating group were significantly higher than those of the non-participating group.

  • Humanity faces the fourth industrial revolution, a time of technological revolution by the collaboration of various industries including the fields of artificial intelligence(AI) and big data. Many countries are focused on fostering AI talent to prevail in the coming technological revolution. While Korea also provides some strategies to enhance the cultivation of AI talent, it is still difficult for Korean undergraduate students to get involved in AI studies. Through on the implementation of 'Big data analysis based AI education', which allows an easier approach to AI education, this paper examined the changes in the attitudes of undergraduate students regarding general AI education. 'Big data analysis based AI education' was provided at undergraduate level for 5.5 weeks (15 hours). The attitudes of undergraduate students were analyzed by pre-postmortem. The results showed there was a significant improvement in confidence and self-directed in regard to receiving AI education. With these results, further active research to develop basic AI education that also increases confidence and self-initiative can be expected.

소상공인의 디지털 전환(Digital Transformation)은 실질적 성과가 있는가?

  • 최근 정보통신기술의 발달로 인하여 디지털 전환의 발달이 활발하다. 특히나 이런 디지털 전환의 영향은 대기업에게만 주는 것이 아닌 소상공인들에게도 많은 영향을 주고 있다. 하지만 소상공인들을 대상으로 한 디지털 전환에 대한 연구는 적은 편이었기에 본 연구에서는 디지털 전환으로 인한 소상공인의 실질적인 성과가 있는가를 살펴보았다. 연구 방법으로는 보다 디지털 전환을 겪으며 소상공인들이 느꼈을 의사결정과 갈등의 현상을 파악하기 위하여 사례연구로 진행하였다. 연구 대상자로는 국내 대표 플랫폼인 N사에 디지털 전환 시스템인 스마트 스토어 개설과 라이브 커머스 등을 이용해 보고 싶었던 소상공인 여섯 팀을 섭외하여 진행하였다. 소상공인 디지털 전환을보다 면밀히 과정 기록 및 도움을 주기 위하여 경기도에 위치한 G학교 경영학 학부생들과의 협업으로 진행되었다. 연구는 총 12주 정도 소요되었고 프로그램이 끝난 후 각 소상공인 대표들과의 심층면담을 진행하였다. 본 연구에서는 소상공인들 스토어의 매출 및 고객 유입수가 모두 현저히 증가한 것으로 보여줌으로서 실질적인 성과가 있음을 보였다. 면담에서는 소상공인들이 디지털 전환은 새로운 고객 유입 및 홍보와 언제든 고객을 맞이할 수 있는 환경을 위해서는 선택이 아닌 필수라고 언급하여 정성적인 성과로 증명하였다.

The Exploration of the Factors Affecting Burnout among Young Working Adults (사회초년생의 직무소진에 영향을 미치는 요인 탐구)

  • This research aims at drawing implications by positive and negative variables affecting burnout of young working adults. The authors derived social support and empathy from sorting out the positive variables, and job boredom and job stress from the negative variables. Many studies have shown that these selected variables are believed to influence considerably on burnout. This research is achieved by the method of hierarchical multiple regression analysis. The results indicate that four positive and negative variables influence on burnout, and the negative variables(job stress, job boredom) have the greater effect than the positive variables(empathy, social support) do. Thus, there is an urgent need for care and concern for the social beginners.

The Relative Productivity to the Technology Frontier and Korea's Productivity Growth (기술선도국과의 상대적 생산성 수준과 한국 제조업 생산성간의 관계)

  • In this paper, technology gap between Korea's manufacturing industries compared to technology frontier countries was estimated in order to take into account Korea's status as a technology follower country. Then by using this measure the role of technology gap was investigated in explaining total factor productivity growth of the Korean manufacturing at industry level. The main empirical findings are as follows: First, the conventional factors that were emphasized in the previous literature such as R&D intensity, trade openness and human capital play important role in explaining the growth rate of Korea's total factor productivity. Second, the larger the technology gap between Korea and technology leader country (and the faster the technology growth rate in the leader country), the higher the growth rate of total factor productivity in Korea as well. Third when the technology gap is large, the most efficient way of absorbing higher technology from frontier country seems to be the international trade channel rather than R&D or human capital accumulation.

  • 분자동역학 모의실험을 이용하여 간단한 van der Waals 상호작용하는 이성분 혼합물 계의 섞임 자유에너지 및 섞임 엔트로피 등 섞임과 관련된 열역학 함수들을 계산하는 방법을 소개한다. 각 혼합물의 과잉 자유에너지는 열역학 적분 (thermodynamic integration)방법을 이용하여 계산하고, 이성분 혼합물의 섞임 관련 열역학 함수들은 Hess의 법칙을 확장함으로써 구한다. 계산 결과로부터 온도가 증가할수록 계의 섞임 Helmholtz 자유에너지는 감소하며, 섞임 내부에너지도 감소함을 알 수 있다. 섞임 엔트로피는 온도가 증가할수록 이상기체의 섞임 엔트로피에 접근함을 알 수 있다. 섞임 Helmholtz 자유에너지에 대한 섞임 내부에너지와 섞임 엔트로피 기여도를 조사한 결과 이 계의 섞임 과정을 주도하는 추진력은 엔트로피에 의한 것임을 알 수 있다. 본 연구 방법과 결과를 이용함으로써 학부생들이 혼합물의 열역학 성질을 이해하는데 도움을 주리라 기대한다.

An Analysis of the Impact of Independent Research Program on the Educational Experience of Undergraduate Students in Science and Engineering Colleges (이공계열 학생들의 탐구능력 향상과 자기주도적 학습을 돕는 학생연구프로그램의 운영 성과 및 평가)

  • In this research, we analyzed the effects of the independent research program on the educational experience of undergraduate students in a research-centered university setting. The independent research program was developed to provide undergraduate students with opportunities to engage in self(student)-initiated, self-regulated and self-responsible research projects. We hypothesized that outcomes of the program would be utilized as a baseline information in formulating the strategies for improvement of the undergraduate curriculum. Eighty three undergraduate students participated in the program during the period of 2003-2009. In order to evaluate results of the program, we carried out survey and in-depth interviews with the participants. According to the participant reports, the independent research program has helped them to develop self-managed research abilities and problem solving skills. They also indicate that the program has offered them the opportunities to survey the various major fields transcending different domains, so as to help them to contemplate on their future career choices. We suggest that such information may provide an essential guideline for developing an innovative undergraduate curriculum.

Structural Changes of Exporting Industries and their Changes of Total Factor Productivity in Korean Manufacturing (한국 제조업 내 수출산업의 변화와 산업별 총요소생산성 변화 분석)

  • The purpose of this paper is to examine the structural change of Korean manufacturing industries and the differences of total factor productivity(TFP) between exporting industries and import substituting industries in Korean manufacturing industry from 1980 to 2013. The empirical results show that over half of total 13 industries have experienced changes of direction from import to export or export to import, which implies that there was a considerable structural change in Korean manufacturing industry. The output growth rates are higher in exporting industries than in import substituting industries. All industries employ more capital than labor during the period, which means that production methodology in Korean industries changes to a more capital intensive one. Finally, the growth rate of total factor productivity is higher in exporting industries than in import substituting industries, and it is also proved in panel regression analysis.

Factor Analysis & SDLRS Assessment in Science and Engineering Fields' Students; In Case of KUT's Students (이공계 대학생의 자기주도학습준비도 진단 및 요인분석 - 한국기술교육대학교 재학생을 중심으로)

  • In this study, the assessment and the factor analysis of the self-directed learning readiness for engineering students were conducted. As measurement tool was used the self-directed learning readiness scale of Guglielmino's SDLRS questionnaire in Korean translation. It was surveyed under 519 students of Faculty of Engineering of Korea University of Technology and Education. Responded questionnaires were 496. As a result, seven factors were identified: (1)openness to learning, (2)initiative and inquiring mind, (3)independence and basic learning skills, (4)creativity, (5)accepting responsibility for learning, (6)love of learning, (7)positive orientation of the future. And the scale was confirmed in validity. It was confirmed that the mean value of openness to learning and of love of learning were higher than average, while mean value of independence and basic learning skills, accepting responsibility for learning were lower than average, there was the difference in SDLRS by students' personal backgrounds, but there were statistically significant differences in seven factors.
