Truncation Error Problem of Error Diffusion Method (오차 확산 방법의 절삭 오차 문제)

  • The error diffusion method is one of the digital halftoning methods that diffuses quantization errors of current processing pixel to neighboring pixels and get a high-quality black-white image. This method has the problematic case which partially increase or decrease summation of diffused errors in the process of diffusing the quantization error. In this paper, we analyze Floyd-Steinberg method, Jarvis-Judice-Ninke method, Stucki method, and Shiau-Fan method as a representative case of error diffusion methods and propose a solution method of this problem.

  • In this paper, photovoltaic module integrated converter (MIC) based on active clamp current-fed half-bridge converter is proposed. The converter stage operates in zero-voltage condition using active clamp technique. The theoretical study and circuit design for proposed inverter are confirmed with PSIM simulator.

  • This paper presents a new hybrid control method of asymmetrical half-bridge converter (AHBC) with low voltage stresses of the diodes. The proposed new control scheme can observe variation of secondary diode voltage stresses by using feedback of the input voltage and then decide the control portions, which are symmetrical control and asymmetrical control. Therefore, the proposed control scheme has many advantages such as a low rated voltage of the secondary diodes and low conduction loss according to the low voltage drop. The principle of the proposed control scheme is explained in detail and its validity is verifiedthrough simulated and experimental results

Obstacle Position Detection on an Inclined Plane Using Randomized Hough Transform and Corner Detection (랜덤하프변환과 코너추출을 이용한 경사면의 장애물 위치 탐색)

  • This paper suggests a judgement method for an inclined plane before entrance of it and the detection of obstacle position. Main idea is started from the assumption that obstacle is always on the bottom plane, and corner appears at this position. The process to detect the obstacle consists of three steps. First the 3D data using stereo matching is acquired to detect an obstacle. Second a bottom plane is extracted by using limit condition. Last the obstacle position is found by using Harris corner detection. Obstacle position detection on an inclined plane was verified by outdoor and indoor experiment. In error analysis, it is confirmed that an average error of obstacle detection in outdoor was larger than the error in indoor but the error are within about 0.030 m. This method will be applied to unmanned vehicles to navigate under various environment.

  • In the medical field, applications of plasma are applied sterilize instruments mainly but with the advent of bio-plasma technology, the scope of application is expanding. Recently, In addition, high-density miniaturization with handheld is required for sophisticated procedures when irradiated directly or treated with non-standard conditions. Rosen-type PZT is a device with a structure that generates high voltage plasma by achieving voltage transformation through electro-mechanical coupling using piezoelectric effect.and is used in portable plasma generating devices as an advantage to increase energy density relatively. In this paper, Rosen-type PZT was modeled using equivalent circuits and was carried out and a plasma generating device for medical application was designed and prototype tested. Prototype plasma generating device generates an output voltage of 5.8 kV with 12V input power and is designed to operate at high voltage by applying the half-bridge topology power converter. The results of the study confirmed the availability of various medical devices, such as plasma jets or direct exposure equipment.

A Method to Detect Multiple Plane Areas by using the Iterative Randomized Hough Transform(IRHT) and the Plane Detection (평면 추출셀과 반복적 랜덤하프변환을 이용한 다중 평면영역 분할 방법)

  • Finding a planar surface on 3D space is very important for efficient and safe operation of a mobile robot. In this paper, we propose a method using a plane detection cell (PDC) and iterative randomized Hough transform (IRHT) for finding the planar region from a 3D range image. First, the local planar region is detected by a PDC from the target area of the range image. Each plane is then segmented by analyzing the accumulated peaks from voting the local direction and position information of the local PDC in Hough space to reduce effect of noises and outliers and improve the efficiency of the HT. When segmenting each plane region, the IRHT repeatedly decreases the size of the planar region used for voting in the Hough parameter space in order to reduce the effect of noise and solve the local maxima problem in the parameter space. In general, range images have many planes of different normal directions. Hence, we first detected the largest plane region and then the remained region is again processed. Through this procedure, we can segment all planar regions of interest in the range image.

  • In this paper, bidirectional AC-DC converter using dual half-bridge converter is proposed. A transformer leakage inductance in the dual half-bridge converter is used for making resonance with the capacitor of the voltage-doubler, which can help the switched current to be sinusoidal without extra inductive component and also the switching loss can be reduced through operation such as ZVS, ZCS. Both circuit analysis and design guideline are described, and also the feasibility for the proposed converter is shown through the hardware implementation and the experimental results.

  • We considered of the buck and half bridge series DC-DC converter. It has good applications in areas with low voltage/high current, wide input voltage. The buck converter ratings and the half bridge converter ratings are $36\~72V$ input and 22V/5A output, $19\~24V$ input and 3.3V/30A output, respectively. Developed the buck and half Bridge series DC-DC converter ratings are of $36\~72V$ input and 3.3V/30A output. The buck converter is operated with zero voltage switching process to reduce the switching losses. The $80.1\%\~97.6\%$ of the efficiency is measured at $18.4{\mu}H$ output filter inductance of buck converter. In the half bridge converter, the $86\%\~96.4\%$ efficiency is measured at 150kHz switching frequency with PQI core. In the case of synchronized the buck and half bridge DC-DC converter, the measured efficiency is higher than that of the unsynchronized converter. In the synchronized converter, the maximum efficiency is measured up to $92.3\%$ with PQI core at 150kHz. 7A output.

  • This paper presents the high-efficiency DC-DC converter using the multi-resonant-circuit. The proposed converter has the power topology of half-bridge and utilizes the multi-resonant-circuit that is composed of 2 inductors (LL) and 1 capacitor (C) to achieve high-efficiency. The multi-resonant-circuit forms each resonant circuit of series circuit type with each resonant frequency, according to the operation modes. This paper first describes the operation pirinciples of proposed converter by the operation modes and steady-state fundamental approximation modelling. Then it shows a design example of the proposed converter based on the principles. And it is validated that the proposed converter has the operation characteristics of high-efficiency DC-DC power conversion through the experimental results of prototype converter implemented by the designed circuit parameters.

  • This paper presents a mode transition method that applies frequency compensation technique of an LLC resonant converter for stable mode transition. LLC resonant converters used in various applications require high efficiency and high power density. However, because of circuit property, a wider voltage gain range equates to a greater circuit loss, so maintaining high efficiency at all voltage gain ranges is difficult. In this case, full bridge-half bridge mode transition method can be used, which maintains high efficiency even in a wide voltage gain range. However, this method causes damage to the circuit through overcurrent by the mode transition. This study analyzes the cause of the problem and proposes a mode transition method that applies frequency compensation technique to solve the problem. The proposed method verifies the stable transition through simulation analysis and experimental results.
