  • The HPFRCCs show that the multiple crack propagation, high tensile strength and ductility due to the interfacial bonding of the fibers to the cement matrix. Moreover, performance of cement composites varies according to type and weight contents of reinforcing fiber. and HPFRCCs with hybrid fiber have better performance than HPFRCCs with single fiber in damage tolerance. Total four cylindrical specimens were tested, and the main variables were the type and weight contents of fiber, which was polyvinylalchol (PVA), polyethylene (PE). In order to clarify effect of hybrid types on the characteristics of fracture and damage process in cement composites, AE method was performed to detect micro-cracking in HPFRCCs under cyclic compression. Loading conditions of the uniaxial compression test were monotonic and cyclic loading. And from AE parameter value, it is found that the second and third compressive load cycles resulted in successive decrease of the amplitude as compared with the first compressive load cvcle.

  • HPFRCCs (high-performance fiber reinforced cementitious composites), which is relatively more ductile and has the characteristic of high toughness with high fiber volume fractions, can be used in structures subjected to extreme loads and exposed to durability problems. In the case of PVA (polyvinyl alcohol) fiber, it is noted by former studies that around 2% fiber volume fractions contributes to the most effective performance at HPFRCCs. In this study, flexural tests were carried out to evaluate the flexural behavior of HPFRCCs and to optimize mix proportions. Two sets of hybrid fiber reinforced high performance specimens with total fiber volume fraction of 2 % were tested: the first set prepared by addition of short and long PVA fibers at different combination of fiber volume fractions, and the second set by addition of steel. In addition, in order to assess the performances of the HPFRCCs against to high strain rates, drop weight tests were conducted. Lastly, the sprayed FRP was applied on the bottom surface of specimens to compare their impact responses with non-reinforcing specimens. The experimental results showed that the specimen prepared with 1.6% short fibers (REC 15) and 0.4% long fiber (RF4000) outperformed the other specimens under flexure, and impact loading.

  • In this study, an effect of fiber blending on material property of Hybrid Fiber Reinforced Concrete (HFRC) was evaluated. Also, Compare and evaluates collating and mechanical property by the mixing rate of fiber for HFRC was determine. Modulus of rupture and strength effectiveness of Hybrid Fiber Reinforced Concrete mixed with macro-fiber(steel fiber) and micro-fiber(glass fiber, carbon fiber, cellulose fiber). Test result shows, in the case of mono fiber reinforced concrete. As the steel fiber mixing rate increases to 1.5$\%$, the strength effectiveness promotion rate rises. However, when is 2.0$\%$, strength decreases. In the case of hybrid fiber reinforcement concrete, synergy effect of micro fiber and macro fiber happens and higher Modulus of rupture and strength effectiveness appears than mono-fiber reinforcement concrete. Use of hybrid fiber reinforcement in concrete caused a significant influence on its fracture behavior; consequently, caused increase by mixing rate of steel fiber + carbon fiber and contributed by steel fiber + glass fiber, steel fiber + celluloid fiber in reinforcement effect in order. And was expose that steel fiber(1.5$\%$) + carbon fiber(0.5$\%$) is most suitable association.

  • Modulus of rupture (MOR) and flexural toughness in hybrid fiber reinforced cement pastes mixed with micro-fiber (carbon fiber) and macro-fiber (steel fiber) and replaced with silica fume according to the fixed ratio were researched. Reinforcing efficiency in specimens were estimated by two factors, such as strengthening factor $(F_s)$ and toughening factor $(F_t)$, which were calculated from the analysis of variance (ANOVA) of the response values, such as MOR and absorbtion energy $(W_0)$. According to the experimental design by the fractional orthogonal array, nine hybrid fibrous reinforced paste series and one non-reinforced control paste were manufactured. Specimens of each series were tested by the INSTRON Inc. 8502(model) equipment in three-points bending and then measured the load-deflection response relationships. Considerable strengthening of cement pastes resulted in' the case of other factors without carbon fiber and toughening of cement pastes about all factors showed high. Based on the significance of factors related to response values from ANOVA, following assessments were available; $F_s$ or MOR: silica fume $\gg$ steel fiber $\gg$ carbon fiber; $F_t\;or\;W_0$: steel fiber > carbon fiber > silica fume. Optimized composition condition was estimated by steel fiber of $1.5\%$, carbon fiber of $0.5\%$ and silica fume $7.5\%$ in side of strengthening and steel fiber of $1.5\%$, carbon fiber of $0.75\%$ and silica fume $7.5\%$ in side of toughening.

  • New hybrid composite material CPAL(Carbon Patched ALuminum alloy), an Al2024-T3 plate doubleside reinforced with carbon/epoxy laminates were made. Fatigue crack growth tests were carried out at R=0.2, 0.5 in the CPAL specimens. The retardation mechanism and behavior of fatigue crack growth were examined basing on investigation of the crack and the delamination using a X-Ray and a ultrasonic C-Scan. The fatigue crack growth rates of CPAL specimens were remarkedly retarded compared to that of the Al2024-T3 specimen. The retardations amounts of the fatigue crack growth rates get higher in $0^{\circ}$/$90^{\circ}$ CPAL specimen than in $\pm$$45^{\circ}$ CPAL specimen, and get higher at R=0.2 than at R=0.5. The retardation of fatigue crack growth rates in CPAL specimen was generated by the crack bridging mechanism, that is the behavior that the fibers in CFRP layers decrease the COD in the Al2024-T3 plate.

  • In this paper, we present a part of results to develop new type hybrid FRP-concrete composite pile (i.e., concrete filled fiber reinforced plastic circular tubes, hybrid CFFT, HCFFT). The purpose of this paper is to evaluate compressive loading capacity through compressive strength test. Before compressive strength test of HCFFT, we investigated mechanical properties of pultruded fiber reinforced plastic (PFRP) and filament winding fiber reinforced plastic (FFRP). For estimating the compressive strength of HCFFT, uni-axial compression strength tests of HCFFT compression members were conducted. The test variables are compressive strengths of concrete and thickness of FFRP. In addition, uni-axial compression strength tests of concrete filled fiber reinforced plastic circular tube (CFFT) except PFRP members were conducted. The test variable in the test is thickness of FFRP. From the test result, the compressive strength of the HCFFT in larger than compressive strength of CFFT as much as 47%. It can be observed that the uni-axial compressive strength of the HCFFT increased if the concrete strength and the thickness of exterior filament winding FRP tube increased. In addition, the finite element analysis result is compared with the experimental result. The difference between the experimental and FEM results is in the range of 0.14% to 17.95%.

  • An appropriate way to fabricate a hybrid composite containing evenly dispersed carbon nano tubes(CNTs) is to stacking B-stage resin films that contain evenly dispersed CNTs and various reinforcing fiber layers alternatively. In the present study, B-stage resin films are manufactured via shear mixing and three-roll milling. CNT dispersion in resin via these two processes are evaluated by SEM on their fracture surfaces. For more efficient process, the dispersivities are evaluated according to the number of calendering passes. Samples are made for different number of passes during calendering, and their dispersions are evaluated via SEM fractographs as well as by measuring their electrical conductivities. Additionally, the optimal process conditions are obtained by measuring the electrical conductivity and evaluating their dispersivity of the samples prepared by gap mode and force mode.
