Evaluation of Channel-forming Discharge for the Abandoned Channel Restoration Design of Cheongmi Stream (청미천 구하도 복원 설계를 위한 하도형성유량 산정)

  • The abandoned channel restoration is one of methods to enhance the environmental function and ecological habitat as well as the functions of water-utilization and flood control. The channel-forming or dominant discharge must be evaluated and defined to design the cross-sectional and plane geometries of the stable and equilibrium channel for the abandoned channel restoration project. In general, bankfull discharge, specified recurrence interval discharge, and effective discharge have been used to decide the channel-forming discharge. In this study, bankfull discharge, specified recurrence interval discharge, and effective discharge were calculated and compared for the abandoned channel restoration site of Cheongmi Stream and their relations to historical bed changes were analyzed. The bankfull discharge, 488 $m^3/s$, of the abandoned channel restoration site of Cheongmi Stream was calculated using HEC-RAS data and ranged between 1.5-year and 2-year recurrence discharges. Also, the effective discharge evaluated with the sediment rating curve and mean daily discharge data is greater than the bankfull discharge. According to the survey data of 1994 and 2008, the bed elevation of the study reach was decreased over time. It is indicated that the channel bed is changing to the stable condition to allow the effective discharge.

Studies on the Root Formation in Hypocotyl Cuttings of Maples (단풍나무류(類)의 배축삽수(胚軸揷穗) 발근(發根)에 관(關)한 연구(硏究))

  • In order to observe the anatomical phenomena of root formation in the hypocotyl cuttings of maples, the hypocotyls of Acer palmatum. Acer micro-sieboldianum, and Acer saccharinum were used as the materials. The rooted portions were sectioned by a microtom and doubly stained by safranin and fast green. The results obtained are summarized as follows; 1. A cross section structure of hypocotyl cuttings of Acer sp. is consist of epidermis, cortex, vascular bundle and pith from the outside. The vascular bundle makes circular shape forming polyarch in A. saccharinum and tetrarch in both A. palmatum and A. micro-sieboldianum. 2. An adventitious root of A. saccharinum originated in phloem parenchyma, while that of A. palmatum and A. micro-sieboldianum originated in interfascicular parenchyma related with phloem cells. 3. The hypocotyl cuttings of Acer sp. is commonly composed of parenchyma tissue having vigorous differentiation capability. Therefore, the originated root grow easily through the cortex and epidermis breaking their tissues.

An Experimental Study on the Charring Rate of Solid Sawn Timber Exposed to Fire (화재에 노출된 제재목의 탄화속도에 대한 실험적 연구)

  • In this study, we have measured the charring rate of solid sawn timber as a preceding step for develop performance based fire safety design method of wood framed building structures. The follows are the summary of fire test results carried out with $400{\times}400$ mm cross-section Douglas-fir in varied of thickness and grain directions. I) When the timber thickness increase under same dimension, the charring rate decreases gradually. It is seemed the charring layer up on a thickness roles as a insulation, gives combustion delaying time to specimen. 2) The charring rates measured at different depths (10, 20, 30, 40 mm) in timber which varying thickness (20, 40, 80, 120 mm) when exposed maximum 1 hour standard fire increase by 30 mm depth, but decrease at 40 mm. It is seemed the minimum charr layer should be 30 mm for having role of insulation. 3) The charring rate of cross section surface (direction of perpendicular to grain) was more high than that of grain direction. It can be explained by the cracks and gaps from greater charr contraction made more heat flux incident into timber.

A Comparative Study on the Types of Vascular Bundle Sheath of Sasa with Those of Bambusa (Sasa와 Bambusa속(屬)의 유관속초형(維管束鞘型)에 의(依)한 비교연구(比較硏究))

  • The morphological characteristics of vascular bundle sheath occurring on the culm wall were investigated by using many species of Bambusa and Sasa in order to test new classification method for endomorphological charateristics of Bamboos. The results obtained were as follows. 1. As for the thickness of the culm wall in the culm, it was shown that the culm wall of the Bambusa becomes thinner in propertion to its nearness to the upper part of the tree, but no distinctive difference appeared in the Sasa. 2. It was shown that many species of Bambusa has a, b types but the Sasa had a' type and had a, b types. 3. It was shown that many species of Bambusa had e', h, and i types but the Sasa had not them and both of species had not f type. 4. It was shown that many species of Bambusa had c, d, e, and g types, but the Sasa had c, d, and e types and had not g type. 5. In the classification of Bambusa and Sasa, The method of the physiological classification was more effective than test of external observation, and it will encourage further study.

Experimental Study of Changes in Channel Characteristics at Stream Confluences (하천합류점의 하도특성치 변화에 관한 실험적 연구)

  • Flume experiments are conducted to describe channel adjustments at stream confluences and to examine some factors to which changes in channel characteristics are subject. There are different factors controlling channel size and shape; shereas the fomer is primarily controlled by water discharge alone, the latter including channel slope is influenced by sediment load as well as water discharge. The morphometric adjustments of confluent tributaries can be consequently classified into three types based upon changes in sediment concentration which are associated with the relative increasing rates of water discharge and sediment load at these sites. Flow is accelerated at stream confluences due to the convergence of confluent flows, causing an sharp increase in velocity. It restrains an increase in channel capacity, and furthers a decrease in channel slope, of a receiving stream. As a result, effects of slight increases in sediment concentration hardly appear on changes in channel characterisitics at stream confluences.

  • This research experimented on the change of the multiple colleague scan angle facing one scan object facet to many directions of the form of 3D about the visual angle nervous system forming the cubic distribution with the gradient magnetic field of the mri system and considered the existing basic angle oblique direction test coverage and comparison. MR system can freely select various pulse sequence and image slice. To oblique imaging for optic nerve viewing, we have studied the variation of scan angle between typical oblique scan method (sagittal-coronal plane) and multi directional angles oblique scan method (sagittal-coronal-axial plane) using gradient of MR system. In this study, the subjects of the experiment were normal adults in our country. As a result, we confirmed that multi directional angles oblique scan method can display anatomical information of more wider area than typical oblique scan method. In addition, to clearly display optic nerve, we also confirmed that image slice thickness and pulse sequence have effect on it.

Analysis of smoking experience and their smoking attitude among elementary schoolers (초등학교 학생들의 흡연 경험과 흡연에 대한 태도 분석)

  • The purpose of this study was to analyze the smoking experience and attitude including affect factors to smoking for elementary schoolers. The cross-sectional descriptive study design was used. We selected 810 students from 14 elementary school located in Chungchung-do and Gangwon-do by convenience random sampling and received IRB from Y Univ. 810 students were included in the final analysis using generalized linear model. Among 810 students, 7.3% of students reported to have smoking experience. The result of analyzing the smoking affect factors for smoking students who were having friends who had smoking experience, unable to smoking suggestion and those who were male, had significantly more smoking experience. According to the results of this study, there should be an intensive tailed smoking related program development for male elementary students, especially for smokers who have smoking friend and including smoking refusing program. And the school system services of elementary school should be strengthened to protect the elementary students from further the critical situation caused by smoking experience.

The Trip Generation Models with Time-effects (시간효과를 반영한 통행발생모형 개발)

  • This research introduces a trip generation model reflecting time-series effects derived from a panel analysis with the data collected from the national household trip surveys conducted in 1996, 2002 and 2006. The existing methods are unable to reflect time-series effects from the change of socioeconomic conditions because the parameters applied to the model were basically from the base year of study - the parameter values were unchanged. This study proposes a new trip generation model developed through a panel analysis performed with the data collected from the last three national household trip surveys. From the results, it was found that the number of school trips increases and that the number of shopping trips decreases as time passes. The results showed that there are time-series effects affecting in trip generation.

A Taxonomic study of the Ophelia D. Don(Gentianaceae) in Korea -Anatomical and ultrastructure- (한국산 용담과 쓴풀속(Ophelia) 식물의 분류 2. 해부학적형질 및 미세구조)

  • Anatomical characters such as stem, leaf, ovary, calyx lobe, ultrastructure of stigma, epidermis of leaf blade and midvein, corolla lobe, nectary, seed coat and pollen were examined on 6 taxa of Korean Ophelia, including 5 taxa distributed in south Korea and one taxon considered to be the variation type of Ophelia wilfordi, in order to clarify the limits of intersection and interspecies and to establish the taxonomic position. One taxon distributed in north Korea was also included in the description of species by observation of herbarium specimen of the University of Tokyo in Japan. The two sections were successfully distinguished by internal structure of ovary, morphology of nectary, surface sculpturing of corolla lobe and pollen, ultrastructure of seed and seed coat, which were useful characters to distinguish taxa higher than species. The variation type of Ophelia wilfordi was not distinguished with other species except for absent or present of purple spot in corolla lobe.

한국의 경제성장에 대한 교육수준별 영향: 내생성장모형과 1975-2004년 동아시아 7개국 자료 분석

  • 본 연구는 지난 30년간(1975-2004년) 한국의 경제성장과정에서 교육의 부문별(초등 중등 고등교육) 역할을 추정하는 데 주목적이 있다. 본 연구는 우선 신고전학파 Solow의 외생적 경제성장이론을 접목한 Cobb-Douglas 모형을 확장하여 1인당 경제성장 추정을 위한 내생성장모형을 제시하였다. 또한 자료 한계를 극복하기 위하여 동아시아 7개국 자료를 바탕으로 시계 및 횡단면 자료를 블록으로 구축하여 앞의 내생성장모형을 이용한 pooling방법으로 1인당 경제성장에 물적자본, 단순노동력, 인적자본, 지적자본(R&D), 초기년도의 기술수준 등의 기여분을 추정하였다. 이러한 각 생산요소의 직접적인 추정결과로부터 각 요소간(고등교육, 중등교육, 지적자본) 상호작용으로 인한 간접적인 기여분 추정을 위해 연립방정식체계를 구축하고 각 요소의 영향력을 재 추정하여 보정된 결과를 제시하였다. 1975-2004년간 한국의 경제성장 과정에 있어서 인적자본요소인 교육은 40.7%를 기여였으며 이를 다시 분해하면 중등교육이 가장 큰 87.0%, 초등교육이 6.6%, 중등교육에 간접적으로 기여한 대학교육이 -52.9%를 보였다. 물적자본이 39.6%, R&D자본이 24.1%들 보였으며 지식 정보기반사회에서 그 의미가 감소한 단순노동력은 -1.4%, 기술추격을 가능케 하는 1975년도 초기기술수준이 -3.0%의 추정결과를 보여주고 있다. 향후 정책연구 과제로는 한국미 지식기반사회에서 선진국으로 진입하기 위해서는 경제성장과정에서 대학의 역할을 제고할 필요성이 있음을 제안하고 있다. 이를 위해서는 기존 대학의 양적인 구조조정이 필요하다. 특히 대학의 질적 경쟁력을 높이기 위한 정부의 대학 지원 역할 역시 제고되어야 할 것이다. 또한 이 글은 교육시장과 노동시장을 어떠한 방법으로 연계 시키는가를 논의하고 세계시장의 급격한 기술변화와 체제변화에 따라 국내노동시장의 필요한 산업인력수요의 내용도 같은 속도의 변화를 요구하고 있음을 상기시키고 연계지원 정책을 주장하고 있다.
