  • This study is to suggest IC(Information Commons) as an alternative to solve the digital divide in the Information Age. The value of IC is based on the OA(Open Acess) and the essential elements of democracy. On the basis of previous studies, physical space was divided into six parts to realize the value of the IC. This study investigated and analyzed the use patterns and made several suggestions for applying IC in the Public Library.

  • According to the changing of information environment and user's need, discussion of changing role is increasing gradually in the library, in consequence, interests about the concept of Information Commons, which are integrated IT, education, learning, and cultural functions, are becoming larger. However, in order to adopt the Information Commons in the University library, the model about the consideration and application of basic element is essential. So that, the purpose of this study is to suggest the ways which are adopting the elements and process of the applying Information Commons. In addition, based on Information Commons of Arizona university Library & Indiana University Library which is well organized with model, researcher tried to attempt the virtual renovation to the 'S 'University library'. Through presenting the applicable model of Information Commons, it aims to provide the example of discussion with actively about Information Commons.

  • Providing adequate amount of spatial impression for spaciousness) has been known to be one of the most important design considerations for the good acoustics of rooms for music. and the measurement, of room acoustics using parameters. such as LEF and IACC, forms an essential part of such evaluation. However. it is unavoidable to use different transducers (figure of eight microphones. head and torso) for the measurement of each parameter and it tends to make the measurement procedure complicated. The Present work tried to provide a simpler way to measure these binaural room acoustic parameters including monaural ones with a single measurement system using both spatial information collected through a 5-channel microphone and a trained neural network. A computer simulation program, CATT-Acoustic V7.2. which allowed us to obtain exactly the same spatial information as a 5-channel microphone was used. since it requires quite a large amount of data for practical training of a neural network. Since each reflection has different energy. delay and direction, energy should be integrated properly. the concept of ray tracing method was applied inversely in this work. Also applying weightings according to the delay times was considered in this work. Finally, predicted results were compared with the measured data md their correlations were analyzed and discussed.

  • A quest in MMORPG functions as a unit of game narrative. It is an essential part to progress game narrative and to construct player's own storyline. In addition, it makes player to expand her territory and helps with character growth by giving reward. A quest consists of four essential elements : the quest giver, the background story, the objective and the reward. A quest shows a blanch structure with two nodes which is same as Claude Bremond's elementary sequence. The sequence of each functions cannot be changed, therefore, it can be explained through a syntagma model. On the other hand, spatial disposition of quests follows a paradigm model. In order to construct a MMORPG narrative, a player connects quests into a single narrative by carrying out them.

  • Recent climate change has led to an increase in the probability of forest disasters (forest fires, landslides). However, disaster systems providing information for forest disaster response lack unified information provision. Therefore, this study aims to provide essential disaster information from a unified system for swift disaster response. To achieve this goal, we conducted a fundamental study on the necessary components for designing a forest disaster platform, explored methods for visualizing platforms enabling swift response and information provision during forest disasters through case studies, and presented the findings. Our results indicate that both domestic and international forest disaster response platforms commonly utilize spatial information to provide location-specific information. Key components identified for designing a response platform for forest disasters include constructing forest disaster big data, including climate information for target areas, developing technology for integrated diagnosis of forest disasters at each stage, and designing tailored safety care services for disaster areas.

  • The National Sejong Library of Korea that is constructed in Sejong City is a public library as well as a library specialized in policy information and children's service. Thus, this study intended to suggest measures of space composition in the National Sejong Library of Korea. First, it proposed strategies for space composition by analyzing cases on spatial factors that are key elements in a national library. Second, it suggested space composition and circulation plan that can support policy information and children's service in order to establish a user-oriented national as well as public library. And finally, it collected opinions from operating managers for the effective progression of space composition in the blueprint on each floor while focusing on users' circulation plan and granting spatial characteristics.

  • According to the changes of the city's paradigm, the demand on u-City increases rapidly. u-City has been built at 54 areas in Korea (as of May 2009). One of the important determinants of success or failure in the increasing of u-City is how to provide u-Services. Most current u-Services are Sensor Network-based monitoring services to manage urban infrastructure. u-GIS is one of fundamental requirements to implement 'any time and any where' u-Service which covers the essential meaningful term "ubiquitous". Hence, in this paper, we 1) describe the definition of the spatial awareness, 2) discuss how to converge (Spatial Embedding) among different spatial data : topographic spatial data, sensor spatial data, and more, 3) bring forth an advanced form of u-Service, 4) analyze the state-of-the-art u-GIS techniques.

  • Today's dynamic nature of the construction environment requires management systems to be active enough to take real-time decisions. For real-time decision making, effective 3D spatial information acquisition is imperative. Various 3D data acquisition technologies are being developed and tested for 3D spatial information acquisition and its use for wide range of areas in the construction industry, however, there are shortcomings in these technologies. The major problems are long processing time and high cost which make current technologies impossible to be used for real-time applications. Laser-based Flash LADAR that illuminates the entire scene with diffuse laser light is comparatively fast and cost effective, therefore it is well suited for 3D spatial modeling of dynamic environment on a construction site. This paper presents experimental results to evaluate the performance of flash LADAR and discuss issues of applicability of Flash LADAR to 3D spatial modeling on a construction site.
