  • The prevent methods of Alkali-Silica Reaction (ASR) are studying after the failure cases by ASR were reported in Korea. In this study, the freeze-thaw test and scaling test for premixed fly ash cement were performed. The ratio of fly ash and cement is 20 percent and 80 percent by weight of total cementious material. The results show that the dynamic modulus after 300 cycles the freeze-thaw test for most of specimen except the specimen have less 3% air was more than 90 % and the loss of weigh the specimen after 50 cycles scaling test was less than 1kg/$m^3$.

  • The cement industry is considered a major industry for reducing greenhouse gases, increasing the amount of binding materials that can replace cement in concrete is known as the most effective method for reducing carbon dioxide. Therefore, research is being carried out to utilize large quantities of by-products that can be used as alternatives to cement. However, there are problems with reduced strength at early age and retarded setting for major reasons that do not increase the amount of mixture of binders used to replace cement. Thus, in this study, normal cement and high-fineness cement were used and physical properties were reviewed by placing differences in fly ash usage depending on the type of cement. As a result, the characteristics of strength were similar, and the hydration temperature was the same level. Also, the durability test showed that the length change, carbonation resistance were better than those of normal cement. Therefore, it is confirmed that the use of high-fineness cement is effective to reduce the amount of cement used and using more by-products.

  • According to Vietnam government establishes additional coal-fired power plants to secure generation capacity, emission of ashes is accelerating and processing them is urgent issue. This study targeted utilize fly ashes that occurred in circulating fluidized bed combusion (CFBC) power plant to use ground solidification materials. CFBC fly ashes are used to make solidification with ground granulated blast furnace slag (GGBFS), gypsum and cement. Then produced specimens by mixing with soft ground soil to confirm mixing effect of fly ash in solidification. As a result it was possible to find mixture design that is satisfied 3 MPa compressive strength in age 28 days and reduce weight loss rate over 50% in acid immersion test than plain specimens that using only ordinary portland cement.

  • Recently, the amount of the mineral admixture including fly ash and ground granulated blast-furnace slag was increased for the purpose of $CO_2$ gas emission reduction in the concrete industry. However, in the case of korea, estimation model of strength development in concrete structural design code was prescribed a constant value according to cement type and curing method about the portland cement. therefore, the properties of strength development according to time of concrete using fly ash and ground granulated blast-furnace slag does not reflected estimation model of strength development. Accordingly, this paper was evaluated strength according to time on the concrete strength range using fly ash and ground granulated blast-furnace Slag and the strength development constant ${\beta}_{sc}$ of concrete according to the kind of the mineral admixture and mixing ratio was proposed.

  • For the purpose of developing high performance marine concrete with improved crack resistance and durability, this analytical study aimed to estimate strength, hydration heat characteristics, and chloride attack resistance of concrete with mineral admixture. Ground granulated furnace slag and fly ash were considered for mineral admixture. The replacement of ground granulated furnace slag and fly ash considered in the analysis was in the range of 0~70% and 0~40 %, respectively. The analysis results indicated that both ground granulated furnace slag and fly ash decreased compressive strength, and the effect of adding ground granulated furnace slag on mitigation of hydration heat was limited whereas fly ash had an noticeable influence on it. It was also found that the replacement with ground granulated furnace slag enhanced the chloride attack resistance but fly ash deteriorated the resistance. From the analytical studies, It could be expected that a ternary blended cement composition with proper amount of ground granulated furnace slag and fly ash might be effective to control crack resistance as well as chloride attack resistance of marine concrete.

  • The aim of this research is providing the fundamental data for treating and recycling the byproducts by using the wet processed bottom ash as a fine aggregate replacement for cement-based extruded panel. Although the cement-based extruded panel was used mainly as a cladding component with its high strength and outstanding durability, it was hardly spread because of low economic feasibility due to the high cost of additives or fibers which were used to achieve 14 MPa of flexural strength as a cladding material. As a solution of this drawback, by the previous research, it was possible to replace cement by fly ash up to 80 % by decreasing quality criteria with restricting the application to indoor purpose. In this research, based on the previous research, by using the bottom ash as a replacement of fly ash, improvement of shape retention performance is tried. As a result of the experiment on evaluating the optimum content and PSD of bottom ash, as the fineness modulus and content of bottom ash was increased, the extruding performance was decreased and penetration resistance was increased. Additionally, the optimum content and the maximum particle size was found as 20 %, and 0.3 mm, respectively.

  • The purpose of this study was to review application of ASTM C 1260 for cement matrix with flyash and lithium nitrate using reactive aggregate. The experimental program included the accelerated mortar bar test (AMBT: ASTM C 1260) for the slate which was evaluated as reactive aggregate by ASTM C 1260 at the previous study. The cement, which was substituted by 10, 20, 30% flyash containing less than 10% CaO, could control ASR expansion. From the experiment applying lithium nitrate to control ASR, the mortar bar containing lithium nitrate showed more than 0.1% expansion at 14 days. This is probably due to dissolution of lithium nitrate in NaOH solution during test periods. Thus, it is necessary to adopt another test method to verify the control effect of lithium nitrate against alkali-silica reaction.

  • In the industry, due to the carbon dioxide gas produced during cement production is increasing, research on recycling by-products has been actively conducted. In the industrial by-products, the high calcium fly ash(HCFA) produced by the blast-furnace in the circulating fluidized bed combustion method has a high ratio of CaO and CaSO4. In view of this, the purpose of this is to use high calcium fly ash(HCFA) as a stimulant in blast furnace slag powder and use it as a cement substitute. As a result, it is judged that the substitution ratio of HCFA should be 15% or less. In addition, although durability and strength are relatively lower than of OPC, it is considered that it can be utilized as an environmentally building material.
