This paper deals with the flexural performance of a composite girder system designed to readily form a composite section without a formwork and to easily realize multistage preflexing and prestressing. After a 3-Dimensional finite element modeling for construction stage analysis, the parametric numerical analysis was performed to analyse the stress distribution on the composite girder sections and the prestressing effects along with concrete pouring method and strand tensioning method. Based on the stress distribution analysis, a favorable construction stage model has been rationally chosen and then the ultimate flexural strengths were evaluated to conduct a comparative study, which exceed the nominal flexural strength suggested by the current design specification(ASD). It can be concluded that the proposed composite girder and fabrication procedure should have a sufficient structural performance.

The partially prestressed concrete members have intermediate degree of prestressing between the reinforced and fully prestressed concrete members. Partially prestressed concrete members take advantages of both the merits of fully prestressed concrete members under the service load state and those of reinforced concrete members under the ultimate load state. Total 12 partially prestressed concrete T-beams were m4de and tested to find the effects of prestressing ratio, stirrup arrangement and shape of cross section on the flexural and shear behavior of the partially prestressed concrete beams. In this paper, the test procedure and the ultimate behavior of test beams are described. The validity of prestressing indices is checked by analyzing test results.

Steel fiber is a effective composite for crack resistance and improve structural performance under tensile loading. This study presents an evaluation of crack resistance and structural performance in cement mortar with steel fiber and expansion agent through internal chemical prestressing. For this work, cement mortar samples with 10% replacement of cement binder with CSA (Calcium-Sulfo-Aluminate) expansion agent and 1% volume ratio of steel fiber are prepared. Including basic mechanical properties, initial cracking load and fracture energy are evaluated in cement mortar beam with notch. Initial cracking load and fracture energy in cement mortar with CSA and steel fiber increase by 1.75 and 1.41~1.53 times compared with those in cement mortar with steel fiber. With optimum mix design for steel fiber and CSA expansive agent, the composite with chemical prestressing can be applied to various members and effectively improve crack resistance to external loading.
Prestressing tendons in a nuclear containment building dome are non-axisymmetrically arranged in most cases. However, simple axisymmetric modeling of the containment has been often employed in practice to estimate structural behavior for the axisymmetric loadings such as an internal pressure. In this case, the axisymmetric approximation is required for the actual tendon arrangements in the dome. Some procedures are proposed that can implement the actual 3-dimensional tendon stiffness and prestressing effect into the axisymmetric model. Prestressing tendons, which are arranged in 3 or 2-ways depending on a containment type, are converted into an equivalent layer to consider the stiffness contribution in meridional and hoop directions. In order to reflect the prestressing effect, equivalent load method and initial stress method are devised and the corresponding loads or stresses are derived in terms of the axisymmetric model. In a companion paper, the proposed schemes are applied into CANDU and KSNP(Korean Standard Nuclear Power Plant) type containments and are verified through some numerical examples comparing the analysis results with those of the actual 3-dimensional model.

In this study, in order to asses the structural performance of trapezoidal PSC girder using a socket joint system and it is possible to calculate the optimized cross-section of the web element tests were carried out for each specimens. we conducted a socket joint performance test, web bending and shear performance tests and all tests were performed at 4 point loading method. The initial crack load of socket joint specimen was significantly lower than the reference specimen but post peak behavior was no significant differences. And the length of the loop joint of the reinforcing bars had no significant effect on the maximum load. As a web shear tests, to obtain a maximum load of the specimen has a prestressing rod reinforced at tension side. As a web flexural tests, to obtain higher diagonal cracking load in specimen of reinforced using prestressing rod than reference specimen.
The pavement system constructed by tieing a number of precast concrete slabs employing prestressing techniques is called the precast prestressed concrete pavement. The behavior of this type of pavement system under post-tensioning was analyzed using a finite element model. First, the optimal number of anchors was determined by investigating the distribution of compressive stresses in the pavement system due to post-tensioning. Then, the effects of the parameters such as the horizontal resistance of underlying layers, the pavement length, the slab thickness, and the bearing area of the anchorage on the distribution of compressive stresses were analyzed. The horizontal resistance of underlying layers induced the loss of compressive stresses, and the loss increased in the middle of the pavement. As the pavement length increased or the slab thickness decreased, the stress loss due to the horizontal resistance of underlying layers became larger. However, the bearing area of the anchorage where the compressive forces were applied did not much affect the distribution of compressive stresses.

PSC girder bridge is known to be more economical than other types of bridges and has been usually applied to a span range of 25 m to 35 m according to the standard shapes for highway bridges in Korea. The spans of the recently developed new types of PSC girders are also limited to 50 m at most. In this study, therefore, feasibility of the long-span PSC girder that reaches more than 50 m is investigated by applying several strategies from the perspectives of materials, design and construction. A systematic procedure is proposed that can be used to assess the effect of each strategy on the span. The proposed scheme adopts a graphical approach that represents a relationship between the number of prestressing tendons and the span, and is derived on a basis of safety assessment equations of the girder in each stage of fabrication and in service. In the companion paper, the amount of span extension is quantitatively evaluated by applying the proposed scheme into a sample PSC girder bridge.

This paper introduces a remained tensile force estimation method using SI technique based on evolutionary algorithm for externally prestressed tendon. This paper applies the differential evolutionary scheme to SI technique. A virtual model test using ABAQUS 3 dimensional frame model has been made for this work The virtual model is added to the tensile force(28.5kN). Two set of frequencies are extracted respectively from the virtual test and the self-coding FEM 2 dimension model. The estimating tendon tension for the FEM model is 28.31kN. It is that the error in the tendon tension is 1% through the differential evolutionary algorithm. The errors between virtual model and the self-coding FEM model are assumed as the model error.

Bridges are deteriorating over service life due to over weight vehicles, environmental conditions and so on. In addition to that, those could be classified into low level bridges which are not fit for highway because of upgrade of the design load. Consequently, such reasons impel the bridges to be repaired or strengthened. Among the rehabilitating methods, FRP sheets and externally prestressing methods are preferred recently. This paper presents experimental results about the behavior of PSC beams strengthened by external tendons and CFRP sheets.
